I havent been to a Rave in 10 years
Very cool times though. I happened to live in chicago at the time. I went to one in an abandon factory, a lazer tag gallery, and...god, what was the name of those ones that were held once a year in like wisconsin...Oh yeah Even Further! That was a blast! _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. Using the word "rave" on this side of the pond got you blacklisted, as that was the fastest way to get the police to crash your event. They were "parties", "concerts", "events", but never "raves".
Flavor 8, Charlote, NC. One of the promoters was stupid enough to use the word "rave", either in print or on radio. A few hundred police officers, two helicopters, three dozen dogs, and national media coverage later... well, you get the picture.

I was never part of the old school as i was too young. But i remeber the beats back in the day when i was just a little child. I was often at the beach and saw the dunebuggys roll past and blast the speakers! I continued to buld my sand castles.
When i got home and turned on the TV i was both scared and impressed by this maniac with green and red hair..
So it's not strange that i've become a raver with a hardstyle flavour when i've gotten older. It's not hard to become a bit saddend when you realize how the world works so i really like to just dance away and focus on only the music at a rave. Forgetting about all else! And it's not hard with all those tunes pounding your senses!
But i also got interested in what led up to all this and started looking into it. I was completley amazed by how it all started. It's really cool that todays producers still use the 808's 909's. Something that has been quite popular is an overdriven 909.. But i must not forget the awesome 3 0 3!. I could go on..
This thread is by far the best i've ever seen on the eve forums. Keep on ravin' and let those hardcore feelings emerge!

2 Funky 2, Brothers and Sisters
omg it has a piano and a woman singing a high pitch = win
I got this feeling
666 + D.E.V.I.L
One of the better mixes but not the one I was looking for.
Dominator - Dance Energy
Oh man, Normski umm ruled? Dance Energy was quite a bizarre mix of BBC 2, Normski, Rave acts playing live and shipped in US rap acts, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
Amazing what having "relations" with Janet Street-Porter will do for ones career isn't it?
Fu Schnickens - Ring the alarm
Normski in top form introducing a great track.
Shamen - Coming on
Hat
DJ DR Cerla - Everybody Pom Pom
Happy memories of the mid-90s, fairly awful track on reflection :D
