Ratting is work The corp is your government You pay your taxes
The are a few corps happy to take members for the value of taxes alone. Some will take you on just for the extra number, some for added conversation. There is hope.
Not everyone has forgotten that EVE is fun. An alliance is a business and it's business is providing fun for it's members. Not systems for it's e-peen, ISK for it's directors, or kills for it's kill-board.
Some people don't work or can't get enough of it and so they're happy to work when they get on-line. Good for them, that's what they like. But it's not for everyone. Some of us would rather have fun of a different kind, be it ratting, roleplay, gang PvP, trade, or whatever.

Its 17h54m local time and on the headlines today we got a nice mob on EvE-O general chat.
Has it ever ocorred to you people that not everyone likes pvp?The op likes carebearing in 0.0 so whats the problem? He contributes in his own way. _____________________________________

I have no problem with that but you shouldn't come and whine on the forum when a corp/alliance kicks you out for not pulling your own wheight.
There are plenty of corps that don't ask for anything from you (ours is one, funnily enough, apart from the taxes). I only took issue with your 'it's unfair' line. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I've been kicked out of The Graduates because I haven't been spending enough time doing BRUCE activities.
I was kicked out of Interstellar Starbase Syndicate for the same reason.
I enjoy ratting, trading, and making ISK in 0.0 but it's finding time for corp activities that's more difficult.
CEOs seem to think I'm up to something dodgy.
Has anyone else had the same experience?
Is there a 0.0 corp that would welcome someone like me?
Most 0.0 corporations and alliances need to fight for their home if they want to keep it! If all everyone did was ratting and mining there, padding their own wallet, soon that system and region would not be theirs anymore. So I dont find it strange or unfair that they require their members to participate in their operations as often this is needed.
Taxes helps, but honestly, hardly enough.

I can look back now and laugh. But at the time it was just shear blind terror and panick.
However, T2 polycarbs on a Cheetah work like a charm for getting round bubble camps. The mistake I made was not cloaking while travelling through low sec. Now I cloak everywhere- even in high sec.

Once upon a time, The Graduates was all about finding your feet in 0.0. Everyone regarded TGRAD as the 0.0 branch of Eve University.
These days, TGRAD is all about war - not just fending off pirates. TGRAD isn't neutral anymore. It's certainly sided against BoB, for example.

In response to the OP:
Unlike a fair number of 0.0 residents, I'm happy to see carebears enjoy a profitable game, and if they are careful, keep their profits for themselves.
But as far as carebears in 0.0, you gotta contibute MORE than just your good will. Your good will IS NOT ENOUGH.
As for Real Life issues, they don't count unless they stop you from playing completely. If you have only limited time in game, for any reason, you do your corp work FIRST, then personal stuff if you have more time. Real life does come first, but you log in for more than changing skills, then in 0.0 the corp comes first.
Having said all that, it is possible to have lot of very profitable free time in 0.0, but you really do need a "corp first" attitude.
If you don't have a "corp first" attitude, and others in your corp are similar to you, then the first time a "serious" group 1/10 the size of your corp attacks your corp, you will fail like a wet paper bag. If you do have the proper attitude, you can take on the combined pvp corps of 3/4 of the galaxy and make them pay for ever inch of territory.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

Well, I am willing to pay taxes.
I suppose the higher the tax, the less of a parasite I would be.
In real life, taxes are about 40% to 65% (depending on which country). In Eve, corp taxes are roughly 5% to 10%.
Perhaps the best situation for me would be a PvP alliance that has a carebearing corp with a higher tax rate

The better others are at securing my part of space, the more taxes they would be able to gather.

No no, its the other way around, sadly They kicked out aqnyone with a sense of good leadership or half a care as to not **** off big powerful entities when we're across AU-EU-US timezones with a 10-15 fleet max for any of those usually, and then wonder why they got permacamped for ****ing off EX-Rise acting like because they can play blue-balling docking games and show force until it comes time for their opponents prime time, losing their towers. At least according to Agent Marvin. (Yes, I am Former Knights of Syndicate, our whole corp is.)
Another one bites the dust. |

So let me see if I am understanding your position. You would like to stay out in 0.0 and make ISK and you would be willing to to pay the corp that you are in a tax amount for that. But as I am understainding it you do not want to PVP. So basically what you are really saying is that you are very comfortable to allow others to RISK their ships and lose their ISK and all you want to do fo r their ability to defend the space you are taking advantage of is pay a corp tax for htat privelage? Is that about right? How elitist of you! I would black ball you too. Why dont you just join a nice PVE corp and run level 4 missions. That is the the niche you seem best suited for.

Originally by: Jack Target Well, I am willing to pay taxes.
There are even deep space corporations out there with 100% taxes allready, and they too still demand people to support in pvp..
I would advice you to stay in empire for now. There are many many corporations there who would take you in! You wont get the same payout as in deep space, but then, you do not have their worries and problems either.
So on one sisde worries and problems with PvP with lots of fat rats and ore vs. no worry and problems with low payout rats and ore.
Since you cant have the fat ore and rats without having the problems, you have to choose. And, guess what. its you who have to do the choice.
Good luck

This attitude makes you a parasite, you live off a host, (your alliance) and get fat. Giving nothing but annoyance to your host.
According to the TGRAD info their tax rate is 15%, which means you paid next to nothing for your carebearing. Instead of whining about the fact you got kicked out, you should be thankful you lasted as long as you did.

Edited by: Brutoth Tain on 10/02/2008 20:51:56 Looking at those kill mails you must make a lot of ISK, but its not fair that you dont contribute to the corps there are ways to contribute to your corp other than pvp you could haul POS fuel or other stuff to make yourself useful and add a contribution and be a part of the team, even acting as a scout for your corp and doing recon for intelligence channels is something.
I cant see tax being enough and basically your asking corps to give you a home and defend you while you happily go about your own business farming ISK,
That just ain't cricket.
