I've put an item in the market in the same station and sold it for 13.5m. A frend of mine wanted to give me 13.5M ISK but when he bought the item he didn't receive it nor did i 13.5M.
We double checked (before we bought it) if there's only ONE item .. and yes there was only ONE available at that station for that price.
So where did this money go ? or does the game have lag ?

Have him look in his wallet in the transactions tab and see who he bought it from, the sellers name will be there

Check to see what station/solar system the item was being sold at. Most likely he bought the item from someone else in another system in that region, or another station in system. Have him check the wallet transaction to see who he bought from. Next time if you want to send or receive money from a friend, just send money VIA the wallet.

We can't do that because we're on trial account.
We were in the same station. ODATRICK IX - Moon 2. We were both present in the dock with no one except us.

Edited by: Seven Reth on 10/02/2008 16:03:50 If the same item was for sale at a lesser price than your order, I believe the sale automatically goes to the lowest priced order, but at the price the buyer offered to pay for it.

He bought the most expenssive item and there was only one Small Armor Repairer I on the station for 13.650M ISK.

That guy had a buy or sell or whatever order set up at a proper price, and you had one up at a ridiculous price. The market automatically chooses the best priced item, and then gives that person the money instead. Why? To stop people doing exactly what you tried to do, primarily aimed at ISK sellers.

Whenever you buy an item you ALWAYS buy the cheapest of that item in the station. You cannot buy any other item than the cheapest one on sale.
If you right-click one of the more expensive ones and choose 'buy', you will pay the more expensive price, but the cash (all if it) will go to the person who had the lowest priced sell order and his item will be yours.

It is working as intended.
The market system always chooses the best order to fulfill first.
If your friend wanted to help you, he can buy stuff you need and trade them to you.

I would also like to add this: If a person has a sell order open, it stays open even if they are offline. So you can potentially buy something from someone who is not currently logged in.

I think this is an unintended benefit and not the main reason for the market working like this.
Simply put, the market's designed to reward the trader with the best price.

Not sure on that actually, because that would mean that CCP took the right of choice away from the players for no real reason. The thing about EVE is that you HAVE choices, so for them to (kinda) limit your options there must have a been a VERY good reason.
Limiting an isk seller's ways of handling his cash stream would be one of them.

Edited by: Merakys on 10/02/2008 19:29:13 Sounds like your friend just clicked the buy button rather than looking through the orders and finding the item you put up for sell. Hence he bought the cheapest item, instead of yours.
And really, what're the odds that I would read this thread, then look up SAR's on the market and see this?
BTW, all you other guys do know that all you have to do is view the details on an item, pick out a seller/location and right click to buy from that specific person... right?

Doesn't work this way. It still goes to the lowest priced sell order in the same station.

Nonsense. Right click > Buy this always gives you the order that you clicked on, no matter the price.

Please prove it (i.e. screenshots of list of orders, buy window, and the list of orders after you buy).

And you're still wrong. This only works if there is only one sell order at a station. Otherwise it's exactly as described above.

You will have bought the cheapest one in that station for the 274,995 price, regardless if the one you clicked was the lowest price or not. The person who put it up for the least amount of money got the sale, if that was less that you were willing to pay he got the amount you were offering.

What a pity, you tried to circumvent the restrictions placed on trial accounts and got what you deserved.... now as this guy helped you cheat, I shall have to add him to my KOS list.
