Tis a very subjective Objective thing (always get those two mixed up) ha ha.
Ive met and fought lots of players in this game who are very very good at PvP! As for the best? Well I guess the only way to sort that would be to have a competition! Even then loads wouldnt enter who might be better!
I am so crap at HW :( Io toasted me last night pooo..

@ Fairlane: I think Darth meant that due to all the rumours going on you can never be sure whether those are the original players. I however believe that they are or at least hope they are because I think anyone should earn by themself what they have in this game.

No because best lists are opinions, even if you had a list the best can still be beaten which is what the saying always someone better then you means.
Mohammed ali is thought by many to be the best boxer ever, yet he was beaten by other boxers, does that make them the best?
(in that case the best boxer in the world was Rocky Marciano, undefeated in his whole carreer and heavywieght champ) Though i am biased :P
Someone like zap only got fame because he was in a cruiser pretty much first and then a bship pretty much first. Tank is famous for similar things and blames freinds glitches when he loses, i wouldnt class this as great. When you fly by a gate in your battleships just see how many pirate frigates you can take you on your way to the gate.. then you will realise how mighty these type of players are'nt.

BTW I think TWD deserves a mention I have seen him get some amazing kills, but like everyone says there is no best as sometimes it is the luck of having the right setup and the only skill is running when you dont.

Well Monica I did say that if you could rank them according to their greatness. To put it on more familiar terms for me then we can¦t compare Pele and Zidane (soccer players) because they didn¦t play at the same time. Soccer has changed a lot since Pele played. Anyway I was just being annoying  .
What makes a pvp player good is also to know when to retreat and Tank seems to have that pretty much covered. At least it is considered newsworthy when he is finally killed.

You can compare Zidane and Pele, zidane is far better all round then pele was, the standard of football was far lower then, hence most world class players now are better then pele ever was. Pele has just played in more world cups then most players now will ever manage because the level of competition is so high. He is only the greatest to those who look on the era with rose tinted glasses 
The best pvp would be the one none of you mention, they dont shout out thier own names, they dont gank easy targets caus they have low bordom thresholds or just because they can, they dont have an army of 12 year old fanbois loving them just because they do "naughty stuff" So the best pvp will never be in this list...
( ps its not me lol )

hahaha, had, as in having it on e-bay at one point. im only saying that when u see an auction, with ppl bidding, u tend to think they may be selling, no?....
hey, im just going with the evidence, doesnt make jack diff to me if they are the same, or different, sold it or not...
would make a difference to this thread though, and thats why i said it....
this game is full of chance though, diff loadouts, guys fitted for range, its mostly just luck, if u meet some1 that cancels out ur setup, u will either flee or die, does that make the other guy a better PVPer?, prob not.

If you got a really <censur> day it will probably make some serious impact on the outcome. Had days when turrets seems to do almost no damage at all and at other times they wreck for over 1k damage. (Without changing set-up or range.)
But one pilot I had "respect" for was Karnah from BOS, don't think he is still in the game though...

this game has about 25 thousand subscribers.
i could list about 100 ppl who are awesome pvp'rs who could all beat each other, on any given sunday. i will of course be giving propz to the guys in m0o and evol because i have flown with/vs them more than anyone else in this game.
any given sunday.
I would also like to note, that kills != skills.
If ccp ever makes a kill list, that ranks players by the number of kills they have participated in, it will be thought that those people are the best.
Jumpgate had a system like that, and while players who are pirates and sit around kiling everything in site are generally good at pvp(but by no means are they always good), they may not be anywhere near the top of the heep.

My vote goes to Kastovic Sm¦irle. He was with us till he left for more PvP. I learned very much from him and he¦s an awesome teacher. He is the only fighter i know that didn¦t get podded or lost any ship(not even his frig in CA raids at weekends)while being with us.

as long as i can remember. i have been alone. fought a war one vs 5 member corp we was in cruisers back then. i won 5mill off it. fought scarzz idiotsminions. in cruisers that was a war too i was alone. then fought gift corp i was alone too. then every started sayin i pirate so i pirate them might as well.. i was alone too... then i started ganking people out of madness... they judge me so i judge them... and yea i was alone too... and still now sorta'
only way to kill me is to ban. me cuz i wont let you have me. died twice. only 3rd time is a charm which i am not letting no one******me.
i have meet GM white. he came n visited me. n changed the sentrys numbers in .1~!!!! to 4 sentrys. but i aint complaining. he did mention Lord Zap to me though. even though i have no clue who it was or if he still play... but yea there is alot of pvper out there. im just one of them so few... i guess

You can only nominate people who you have flown with or against, I suppose.. the others are only by reputation.
In terms of PvP smarts, the guy I would feel most comfortable flying next to would be Homo Erectus. I mean, the guy must have at least a 200-1 kill/death ratio by now (yes, hes only ever been killed once and even that was due to a loading bug). By reputation, I guess people like Ecliptical, Zap etc would have to be up there.

Trev: Cre doesnt suck man ;/ he was just normally very careless about his ships. More careless then me even and thats alot lol. I flew alot with him and he had something very few had back then and that was guts but he also had great tatics. I have fought many good pvpers..i could say EVOL and RUS always gave good fights but many others as well.
