Ship contracting Any remotely serious Amarrian uses some variants of Tech 2 or Faction lenses, these things take "damage" when used, and our glorious contracting system does not allow damaged items to be contracted. If you have one or more of these lenses in your cargohold, you are screwed. A exception for lenses should be made regarding contracts.
Fleet battles, lense changing and you! Anyone that has experience this, knows its a nightmare. For those that havent, I can explain the misery For normal ammo, it just draws X amount of rounds from the stack and stuffs then into your guns. While each lense is "unique", damaged at different levels. So when you reload to a different type it takes the first lense in cargohold. You reload the second gun, it also queues up the first lense. Same happens on 3-8. After x minutes, you sit left with 1 loaded gun and rest empty.
The fastest way for us to change ammo, is to unload every gun (because sometimes it fails to reload because the gun is already full) Then manually drag a lense from cargohold to the empty gun. Maybe we could get room for multiple lense types in our guns, so we can reload in a laggy fight. (Yesterday my keyboard nearly flew out the window, corded keyboards 4tw!)

It would probably help your cause if you used the term "crystals."
That's what most people call 'em, right?
Maybe not.

I understand your pain, Even when I am no way affected by lag, if i change my crystals too quickly one or two guns will no be loaded properly.

This is the problem I have most often. If I click too quickly, I'll end up with only a couple guns loaded, so I have to go back to the ones that didn't load properly. Also, The ones that didn't load correctly can't be loaded with the type of crystal your were initially trying to put in until you change it to something else first. And if I'm experiencing any kind of lag, it can take minutes just to change crystals.

If you have empty guns after switching crystals too fast all you need to do is right click on the gun and select reload. This will automatically load one of the remaining crystals in your cargo hold of the correct type. No need to switch to another and then back; although it is still an annoyance.

Edited by: Kuranta on 13/02/2008 13:50:44 The reload thing surely is anoying, but a simple ctrl + R will help in most cases.
But since we're getting a "change ammo type on all guns" button soonÖ, the issue should be solved.
The contract thing should be looked into. Even a "Throw those damn crystals off the ship"-button when contryting would help.

CTRL+R does not work in heavy lag where you will experience the issues he is describing. All that will happen is you will get a different set of unloaded crystals to the set of unloaded crystals you got the first time.
It also doesnt fix the contract problem which is, imho, a more legitimate complaint. Lag causing problems is one thing, since you cant really predict it and game balance issues may some solutions as untenable. But the inability to sell or contract damaged crystals becomes a significant issue since you cant repair them.

All I want is to be in the same boat as everyone else, when it comes to reload in a lag-infested system.
Also contracting ships. Instead of having all the ammo jettisoned into the hangar, wouldnt it be more practical to send it to cargohold instead?

Ship Contracting is the main annoying one for me.
Lense changing is quick and just something ive came to deal with. Works alot better than standard ammo in most situations. Except not knowing how damaged they are.
Loading all guns with ammo at the same time would be nice. I do seem to have to use that "reload used" button too often. :[

Any mechanism for creating contracts ALWAYS needs to display a FULL list of whats being offered - otherwise the buyer doesnt know what items they are actually buying!
I suspect that the reason ship items are jetisoned to the hangar is because CCP used the simplest (quickest to develop) coding mechanism for ship contracts - i.e. re-use the existing routines that handle contract of hangar goods.
To avoid unfitting items CCP would have to develop additional routines to handle objects already fitted to the ship (or placed inside cargo hold), and ensure that items remain in the same location after transfer to the new owner. Nothing particularly complicated to develop - but additional development effort above 'standard' hangar based contracts nonetheless.

me thinks ccp shud add a "change all ammo to... (ammo name goes here) " like reload all but to change ammo, this way u dont have 2 clock on every gun and find the ammo and click on it 2 reload it with that ammo, with this new option you can do all guns/ launchers at the same tim...

We've been asking for this for years. [Heres where I suggested it- now locked]
Don't hold your breath, I should think any change such as this will be seen as an Amarr boost anyway, so meh.

Yes, it always amuses me when people trot out the old "ah, but laser pilots don't have reload" mantra when it's the laser users who have far bigger problems with:
- lousy falloff so need to change ammo more often; - greater investment in a "load" of ammo, so bigger cost on ship loss, especially with T2/faction; - contracting (as you say); - the glitched crystal-changing mechanism which hasn't been fixed despite being broken for several years;
Still, mustn't grumble. Amarr have now had their boost this decade, however long it was in the waiting... :/
