Quite frankly I'm somewhat disappointed, particularly as CyberDyne has such a good rep...first the lack of communication around the expected 2nd payment date and now this bombshell. Nevertheless option 1 is the most appealing to me, I can use the ISK for other things. |

Originally by: Vanora Kime Uhm, before I vote, I'd like to have the options clarified a bit ...
- Original IPO value was 70b. - Promised profit was 43% over three months, ~14% monthly. - First payout was 28b.
If I get this correctly, the 3 options imply the following:
Option 1: We get another 50b now, adding up to 78b. IPO will then be closed and we get 8b or 11.4% in profits (2.28% monthly if you take march->july into account).
Option 2: We get 38.6b (the 2nd payment plus the missing ISK from the first one), with no guaranteed final payment. At this point we would be at a loss of around 4.9% and would have to hope for a final payment that might never happen.
Option 3: We get 17b now (how do you make up that number btw, is that your current profit at this stage?), adding up to 45b, or an even higher loss of 36.7%. You then promise a final dividend payment until end of 2008. This means - if you are able pay out the full remaining 55b until that date - we'll get a monthly dividend of 4.77% (43% over nine months). Again, that might not happen at all.
So we have one option that lets us get out 'now' with a small profit (but at least no loss), and we can put that ISK elsewhere. On the other side we have two options that will put us at a loss and tie up our ISK for longer than originally planned, but with the slight hope for another dividend in the future. I have two questions:
1.) Did I understand these options correctly? Are any of my numbers wrong?
2.) In regard to this:
Originally by: Loney Due to the change in market prices far quicker then we expected CDRD will have to adjust its plan [...]
What makes you think that the prices for motherships/titans will 'recover' and allow you to pay the full promised dividends at a later date?
At the moment I'm thinking something like "I'd be lucky to get out of this without a loss", so I'm very tempted to vote for option 1. However, I don't want to rush that decision, so I'd like to have these two questions answered before I vote.
Thanks,
Vanora
Your understand of the situtation is accruate and your numbers seem correct. The "recovery" of Capital ship sales will most likly not happen, we can only hope they don't get worse.
Originally by: Mr Horizontal I did point out the capital market was a graveyard area, but you expressed such esteemed confidence in the market and you're impeccable reputation is second to none. And honestly, did you not realise 2008 would be the year of the Titan spam? Titans will continue to be sold at 65-75b, and Moms are frequently sold in below-cost firesales, too.
Now one area that you might want to investigate is actually buying these firesale supercaps and reselling them higher, as that is one profit centre you can capitalise on... those firesales are up there because the owners need ISK, and need ISK badly and quick.
I'm not 100% sure any of the plans have really been thought through enough expecting the market to continue as it is. Can you provide a little more detail of your plan of attack based on a continuation of the suppressed market, so we have a better idea?
Yeah, We analyzed that possiblity and hoped it would not be as drastic as it ended up being. :(

When voting, I also noticed a closed CDRE vote from 12/06 which had similar options...did you have a similar problem back then, have any of your previous IPOs gone full term?
Quite frankly I'm somewhat disappointed, particularly as CyberDyne had such a good rep...first the lack of communication around the expected 2nd payment date and now this bombshell. Nevertheless option 1 is the most appealing to me, I can use the ISK for other things.
You are correct, the 2006 vote had very similar options. It too ended early but sadly with a better payout then this IPO has now. Titan's are NO motherships!

Originally by: Loney The "recovery" of Capital ship sales will most likly not happen, we can only hope they don't get worse.
So that above 'guarantee' is based only on the hope that the supercapital prices won't drop further for the next 6 months. 6 months more with another 'guarantee' - no thanks, I voted option 1.
Also, would you please answer this question:

Essentially we were/are faced with a choice - we can spend the isk and build more titans (they take 4 months) and make a few isk (possibly) or we can take what we have fromt he sale of the last one and pay everyone off with some profit, in a lot less time then expected.
We will NOT leave anyone high and dry on purpose but due to the huge time requirements of buildign and selling titans a lot of isk will be tied up for a MINIMUM of 4 months. We could take this isk and just pay off the shareholders with some profit. But until the next titan is sold there's no guarantee that we'll be able to pay out the entire amount. It's up to the shareholders so please vote. Essentially - it comes down to can we make a lot of profit in 4 - 5 months? It's not a guarantee.

The simple answer is NO... this is not how a vote works. the vote has a majority winner and then that is how the company moves forward.
HOWEVER: If for some "RARE" reason the vote is tied at a 50/50 or 33/33/33 split.. then we can move on from there.
PS only a few hours left.. vote now!

Has any other investor received instructions for getting the payout yet?
It's now been more than 48 hours since Loney's last post. If he treats his potential customers the same way he treats his investors (i.e. saying he'll do something within a given timeframe but then doesn't), then it's not surprising the IPO didn't go the whole nine yards. |

No, I didn't. And to Loney: Seriously, it's been almost 5 days since your announcement. At least a note on why you are so late with these instructions would be nice ... along with some info on when we really can expect to get that payment

Honestly, I doubt he cares. With the way he has handled this entire IPO, its not surprising that he fails to follow through with his own time line. I think its safe to say that if he were to try for another IPO again in the future, this IPO will be hanging over him like an unhappy mother-in-law.

Confirming I have received the isk for the returned shares, thank you Loney
However I can't leave without sharing my thoughts on this IPO...
I had high hopes for this IPO and was sorry to see it fall apart before the 2nd payout.
Although I can appreciate the reasons for the failure, my major grumble about this whole saga is how terribly bad the communication has been and how certain deadlines have been missed without even a whisper from Loney.
For example, the 2nd payment date came and went without any communcation from Loney. It took several forum posts and evemails from the investors over a couple of weeks to get him to reply. Furthermore, after the final vote was taken, there was no mail from Loney explaining the buy-back process within the stated 24 hours that he himself set.
Quite frankly if this had been a RL business it would never have got off the ground. It'll certainly make me think twice before investing in any other IPOs. Yes, the investors eventually got their isk back, so Loney is trying his best to maintain a reasonable reputation (no-one can call him a scammer), but I will certainly not be getting involved with CyberDyne R-D / R-E again purely because of the lack of timely communcation on the part of Loney.
I hope he can improve on this point and has more success in any future IPOs if he decides to continue in this line of business.

A month on and I would like to do the books for EMFI investors as dividends are way overdue...To help with this task I would like to know what has happened to the first batch of 200,000 shares through on the behalf of EMFI and have received no contact or payment yet...
Any news yet? I'm now concerned at lack of news and we still have a fair few shares to send through. Can we please resolve this before the 15th when EMFI shares are due and I have to report to shareholders, many thanks
