I've got a simple question. Say you rent a factory and start a job. But the rent expires right in the middle of that job, does that mean I lose 50% of all the minerals that job required? Something like this has happened to me when building a battleship.
Also, where does one file reimbursment requests anyway? The petition wizard doesn't seem to have the right type.. (It's not really a bug report and the "other" type only allows for small questions.)

Yes you do, which is why I always pay bills the second they come in

Your out of luck you won't get this reimburst.
I've had the same thing happen to me luckily while I was building "just" a cruiser. But indeed when the factory unrents itself because you haven't payed the bill yet, you will lose half the mins.

Thanks for the answers guys.
But damn CCP... that's just ******* great. Because one guy forgets to pay the rent, the whole corp (who have been mining their ass off for our first BS) gets the penalty? What purpose does a penalty like this have, beside demotivating/****ing off my entire corp?

The moral is it should impound the job much like it does with corp hangers when they expire. Loosing over 1/2 your minerals for starting a job and the job not completing before the expiry of the rental period is rather daft.
A warning before users insert a blueprint into a factory where the blueprint will take longer then the remaining rental period would probably avoid this whole issue. I doubt we will see this for a while though.

Or create more Factories and Labs and allow multiple weeks of rental at once.
More new players needs more game resources.

There was a pretty valid reason for the why this type of approach was taken, but it all revolved around the very early game mechanics where the factories all cost 1k, and never charged their monthly fees again. People hired all the free ones to just prevent competition.
When they fix that, there was a huge outcry from those people when millions was due to be taken in back rent.
So they decided if the factory/lab wasn't in use at the end of the rental period, it would be released for potential use by someone else.
I do think its a little silly it doesn't prompt you that you are installing a job which could take potentially longer then the remainder of the rental period. Do you want to renew your rent now as well? Just something simple to remind people

At this rate of rentals of research labs, we can try back to sell the slots.

Yes your Factory sends you an evemail at the beginning of each rental cycle.
Also any outstanding Bills are listed In your wallet under BILLS....Check your wallet each time you log on.

Heh, I hopped in my trusty Vigil yesterday and hopped 14 jumps to pay the labs.
A tip for ya....before putting a really important job in the factory, check the eve-mails from the corp you rent the factory from. Double-check the date and time. If its something that takes a lot of minerals, TRIPLE check it.
Before any important factory job, I refresh the rent usually (I'm paranoid). Couple of k down the tube for peace of mind, worth every penny.
