RE: This thread.
Yesterday I mentioned how there was very little warning, or rather, not as much warning as there could have been, about the extended downtime yesterday.
Now to today. I've literally just started EVE thinking 'ooh, I know it's quarter to 12, but it might already be up'. Far from it, I'm told by my login screen that downtime is extended to ruddy TWO O CLOCK - AGAIN! And I have another bleeding skill to change at about 1pm, just after which I have to go to work, which means I still won't be able to change the skill when the server does come up. I won't be back from work until 1AM - 11 HOURS after the server is due to come up, and a full 12 hours after my skill stopped training.
This is wasting time, time that I am paying for. At the moment I'm so busy that I don't have room in my day to play EVE for any length at all really, so at the moment, the only thing I can do is pop online to change my skills - except I can't do that either.
Yesterday's DT I can understand, and I'll just let that slide into unimportance, but today I'm just a bit frustrated. grr.

ZOMG!! Losing 12 hours of training is clearly unacceptable. We should sue CCP. I think one... hundered... billion!! dollars per minute lost is more than fair.

You are aware this is an unscheduled extended downtime to fix a problem from yesterday's patch right? Can hardly give you a week's notice on that can they....
Besides, could be worse, you could have your main banned from the phishing crap last week, and have another day of GMs looking at patch stuff instead of unbanning it.
Bloody whiners. Whine you've something to whine about.

I am quite clearly not demanding tons of money back or saying which should shut down CCP. My OP is an expression of frustration at something that could have been avoided.

Okay... Then I say, we should sue them for every patch they've applied to this game!

Perhaps it could have been made right in the first place? Apparently patch day was to fix one tiny weeney little problem that affected a small percentage of the population. Now it's screwed us all up.

There's still no Mac client stability fix in this patch. How's that? :p --- SVP OwlManAtt, Yasashii Syndicate |

If it would work, it'd be worth a try :-P In fact, yes, it would work - the money I get back from CCP would allow me to take some more time off work which means I'll be more able to spend time in the EVE-world and I'll see these downtimes coming which means I won't get this problem! Hurrah!

That's whine worthy. Moaning about an extra extended DT to correct something is not.

Aw shame. I've had 2 days of skilling missed now to someone being malicious resulting in my account being banned. So, frankly, jog on.

Read my words again. I am not moaning about the downtime - I'm frustrated that we don't seem to be getting any kind of obvious warnings that stop us from getting stuck with skill changes (re: that thread I linked to)

well if you wasnt such a noob you would of realised by now that ccp allways like to do more than 1 patch after a patch deployed :) allways set a long skill at dt :)

Only the MOTD, news item, and forum thread. Maybe they should have invented telepathy and beamed it into your head....

Just how much warning do you expect, given that this patch is an emergency hotfix to correct a problem with the previous patch? I'd rather they solved that the next downtime than give 48 hours of warning.
When i logged in this morning to switch skills the warning was up. That was 5 hours or so before planned DT. Given that they probably didn't even have a hotfix until 15 or so hours before DT and still had to decide whether or not to push it the next DT that's pretty decent.

Neither is something as stupid as "they should have done it right in the first place". Yes they should, but you're now complaining about them FIXING it.

You don't actually pay for the skill training. You pay for the privilege of accessing a digital world immersive enough that you're actually upset about decreased skill training efficiency in it. v0v
Besides, it's what? 12 hours? That's nothing.

That's an incorrect accusation, and tbh a bit immature and uncalled for.

I don't tend to assume I'm always going to be recieving a rubbish service wherever I go or whatever I do.

Op is corret. CCP never told us much about DT.
Solution is simple - add in a skill queue which can hold a maximum of 1 skill, so it cannot be abused. Problem solved.

I needed a particular skill to finish training (which very soon, it will have) to then train another one to level 1, so that as soon as I can I can attach a module to do a certain something as soon as possible whenever I get back from work later on.
