I really don't care about this argument in the least (I've run missions in high sec, progressed to low sec, went back to high sec and mined for a month then moved to pvp and out to 0.0) however I have read all the comments and it seems to me that fundamentally, people are failing to act correctly and pointing the finger of blame at others.
The correct course of action is to create a corporation and fill it up with people (or join one). Then move out to lowsec and run missions together.
This way, when you get that odd pirate come knocking, he has to think "Do I really want to mess with 3+ people in a mission?" rather than "Cor, some solo fool in a raven!".
Not that I want to make my brothers and sister's lives harder, but greedy solo mission running people really deserve a cold wet fish to the face for a reality check. Last time I looked, EVE was an MMO and in MMOs, the solo existence is awful. Try a raid in WOW solo :-)
Anyway, regardless of what you are all saying, seems to me the issue with people visiting low sec is held up by the fact these people have no friends or a very limited number. Truth might sting abit, but seems this is your biggest bugbear.
Stay in empire all you want, but its awfully small and crowded and you'll leave EVE through boredom long before you would if you had to go to an area where your guns might have to be trained on another.
You really are not experiencing life in EVE if you are :
A) Not in a corporation of like minded and happy people B) Doing the same thing daily in the same places C) have no 'dreams' or 'aspirations' to 'progress'
If you have more than 10mill Skill points, there are plenty of corporations looking for you! Join up, and remember, its just a game. Even if you lost 100% of your assets, you can make it back !! How long it takes is a factor of how close to Empire you are. The closer you are, the longer its going to take. -- Two cannibals eating a clown. Originally by: Hasak Rain Why do solo mission runners deserve a wet fish to the face? Just because it is a MMO doesn't mean you HAVE to group if you don't want to. People like you need to get it through your thick skulls that different people play these games in different ways and find their fun in their own ways.
Pay my sub and then we can talk about my play style.
BTW: I made over a billion isk running lvl 4's for the Theology Council in an 0.6 system last month. Bought a Nightmare the month before as well.
I thought I would add that tidbit since it seems to irritate you so much.
Play your own style by all means (Took you a MONTH to earn a billion? OUCH!! 5-6 days of effort ratting for those in 0.0), but please stop whining about the dangers and rewards that belong in low-sec being talked about being moved there. All seems very rational and sensible.
If you're irritated by the fact the game wants (it doesn't force you to do anything. Heck sit in Jita and level there for 5 years if you want) you to graduate to low sec for better rewards, you need to remember its just a game and others will play it their way too (and move out eventually).
While others are buying carriers and doing way more fun things such as piloting new ships, you're still doing the same old thing in your raven (yawn).
Honestly, macro players can do it and they aren't even at their computers! Go to the Misaba system and run missions. I lived there for a month and there were about 3 people to worry about.
Check out agent levels dispersed according to system security level.
- level 1 agents existing in 1.0 & 0.9 systems - level 2 agents existing in 0.8 & 0.7 systems - level 3 agents existing in 0.6 & 0.5 systems - level 4 agents existing in 0.4 & 0.3 systems - level 5 agents existing in 0.2, 0.1 & 0.0 systems
This is yet another 'graduation' progression that moves people away from the new pilots who have enough to learn without having to deal with all the lag killing them in missions.
Sure, you'll get a lot of people running level 3 missions, but they at least have moved to a system where hi-sec ganking is completely achievable even with Concord.
oh and I think the fact there is a lack of 'home guard' types out there that will actively look for pirates in low sec and keep it clear for people to run missions is a mis-wish that people are in a corporation where everyone looks after eachother when the bad man comes looking.
Stop expecting people to look after *YOU* and *YOUR* interests and go make busy with making friends. I'd imagine mission running corps would have a 0% tax rate and no corp hangers to maintain. Such corps are perfect for the current greedy solo mission runners.
oh and if you see me in your level 4 missions in hi sec, just ignore me, I'm just salvaging wrecks for free polys -- Two cannibals eating a clown. One says to the other "Does this taste funny to you?" |

Actually, zero agents in 1.0. Its considered highest sec, wtf are roaming badguy npcs doing there ? How did they get there? Not believable so don't do it :)

Zoinks, same here!
Now there are more people and more people playing EVE who came in without knowing what the flip side of the coin is all about.
I left WoW for a number of reasons, one of which is that after ganking the same guy 20 times in a row, I really hadn't "Achieved" anything other than making some guy walk back to his corpse 20 times. Certainly didn't get to walk off with any of his gear :(

Is it just me or does it seem like people are against going to low sec because they believe it just another attempt by pirates to get more phat lootz?
Low sec pirates operate best in systems that boarder highsec. Thats their optimal spot. Get passed there and make some system your home with your buddies and you'll see a whole new game open up for you. Thats all we're saying. Personally, I'm more concerned that EVE is being populated with people that aren't even at the keyboard playing. They are just loading up their navy ravens with FOF missiles and jumping into missions, then walking over to their computers to play another game! -- Two cannibals eating a clown. Last reply before I take my son out to play in the snow!
I think the empire trolls are seekretly wanting CCP to delete the outer regions of 0.0 because, lets be honest, there are systems at the very edges of the EVE Universe that are empty 99.9999% of the time.
I say CCP should make the edges 'wrap'. Do it in the next big update and call it EVE-Worm-hole-years. -- Two cannibals eating a clown. One says to the other "Does this taste funny to you?" |

Oh and this isn't me asking for CCP to do this. I don't run missions. Its what I believe the CCP masterplan is.
There is absolutely zero chance that doing this will kill the game. There is no threat of 100% of people leaving. Infact, I bet its about 33% of the active players that even run missions and of that, 10% are running level 4s. Of course, these are made up stats ;-) If the numbers are higher, it lessens the chance that moving high level agents to low sec will hurt CCPs bottom line. All those people going out to low sec at the same time would not make a pirates life easier.
Try camping a gate with 2 friends when 20 people jump through (even if they are random and not in the same corps). Its quite a harrowing experience. -- Two cannibals eating a clown. One says to the other "Does this taste funny to you?" |
