Been grinding level 3s like a man possessed working up to level 4 missions. Have been able to run them for a while now but I'm building up my obligatory Raven as running lvl4s in my Drake - whilst relatively effortless - takes an disproportionate amount of time.
Can someone give me an idea of the sort of ISK you make from running level 4 missions for an average/above-average quality agent? Is salvaging still the main money maker (moreso than the payouts/bounties) with level 4s as it is with the other levels? Do people looking to maximise ISK/hour bother salvaging/looting L4s?

Approx 20 mil/h is reasonable estimate for average reasonably effective missionrunner on good quality lev 4 agent in lower end of hi sec (at sec 0.7 to 0.5). It ofc varies a lot depending on setup, skills and tacktiks used.

Thanks.
I should explain (not that it's vitally important) that I'm not running L4s in my Drake solo, I've been tagging along with a friend who runs in a BS so I could get a feel for difficulty.

No doubt some will make 20m but 10m is a more realistic figure, not max skills and looting pushing towards 13-15m with some good missions.
Carniflex is rather good at missions and has posted some impressive times, way better than most average mission runners, run the mission return and loot takes a considerable time, thatĘs why many donĘt bother looting (modules just too big) or salvage (just another time sink).
Most new lvl 4 players will be looking to learn the missions/triggers and upgrade fittings as isk rolls in

Just running the level 4's with a raven a 6 month char, I'm making 10 million per hour not counting the lp. With alt there looting and salvaging and kicking in drone support I'm making 20+ million per hour. 20 million is the very low end of this, but this is because of the meta 4 items and salvage that drop.
Also I have lost ravens because of lag, so you should save up your isk so you can replace your ships.

If your running with an alt, Drone support helping loot/salvage, then you doing the same as Carniflex, the request was how much isk from lvl mission, not "How many alts do I need"
Clearly you seem to think everyone has and alt to help raise the isk/hr. The OP is running with a buddie to learn the ropes.

Edited by: Yargo Metash on 21/02/2008 18:46:26 I don't use an alt and I loot/salvage every level 4 missions I can, including mercs (dumping annoying cap charges and metal scraps...) Using the "Bookmark, come back later" process.
Average payout for a lvl 4 mission can be anywhere from almost a mil, to a couple mil for completion (I get around 1.7 to 2 mil from my main lvl 4 payout+bonus) Bounties, if done solo, will net you anywhere from 3-10 mil (low end battleships in sparse mission amount, to 750k+ battleships in thick mission amount, ala The Blockade)
Loot varies, meta 4 items are always a boon, and most battleship size guns (NOT missle launchers) will net anywhere from 100k-500k for non-meta 4, and they're plentiful as heck in merc/EoM/Faction missions.
Salvage also varies, due to metal scrap amount and amount of popular items (Trit bars, Melted Cap consoles, etc.) I usually range in the 2-6 mil area on MCC/Trit bar salvage alone, but if you sell all your salvage you can expect to add at least another mil on that.
That's about as in depth as I can make it, but 20 mil an hour is a good base estimate, missions/bounties/loot/salvage and all.
And for those who don't loot because of bulky items, they need to upgrade their loot/salvage vehicle (Using a cane with 2000m3 storage, only have to drop items for loot heavy missions). Most missions, it's the loot that really makes the money other than bounties.

That 20 mil/h estimate was for solo T2 fitted Raven with LP figured in over your average mission distribution in caldary space. Peak rewards can be higher ofc. Best missions yield already 20 - 30 mil in bounties / isk reward but crappy ones drag average down somewhat.
For beginning missionrunner 20 mil/h average might be out of reach tho. Solo isk/h varies from 10 mil/h up to approx 30 .. 40 mil/h (depends how pimp the setup is in higer end). I can't do 40 mil/h solo (on average), but people are using sometimes very pimped ride in missions. Second account, when used for damage will make your mission running approx 30 .. 40% faster (travel times remain the same), that translates roughly into 30% more isk/h.
Second account as 'wingman' in missions (when you use timecodes to keep it ticking) is reasonable if you run missions at least 6 hours per week (in T2 fitted raven or better) altho it's good idea to get familiar with missions before getting second account for wingman. At 6 h / week missionrunning your wingman would 'break even' meaning that having him present would earn you enough additional isk to cover his timecode price.

When i get into the Missioning mode ie I aint talking on msn .. No interruptions by phone calls and visitiors ..When i put my mind to it .. I make around 20 mill per hour .. Thats with crappy missions (like massive attack) , and that counted.
I have been salvaging alot less recently and found that my isk per hour has gone down .. So it is worthwhile salvaging .. i tend to only salvage where there is more than a couple of battleships .. waste of time salvaging frigates (although i did get a fleeting web of one of them which is worth a bit) .. So average mission say about 10 mill in bounties and mission rewards .. 10 mill in salvage
If i get some good missions though like blockage followed by vengence That amount can go as high as 30 mill an hour .. But i am a little amarr pilot flying a apoc with under 10 mill sp .. I am sure some well specced ravens can do better than me in isk making so that figure should even be higher..

when you are starting lev 4's looting, salvaging, and building rigs is best. Get an efficient salvaging ship, and a hauler to take your loot to a profitable hub. Now I make more in LP then loot, so I don't loot anymore. I make easy 50M / hr.

With looting I can pull ~20m an hour in high sec. I fly an Abaddon and take with me my salvage fitting. After clearing all the rats I dock refit for salvage with 4 tractors and 4 salvagers, an afterburner and full lows of cargo expanders.
I loot slavage everything and anything that does not sell for 100K I reprocess for mins to use later. I guess wish there was a way to do bulk sales. Some folks say to forget the loot and just grind the bounties. Most large weapons sell for 600k-1m isk so the are worth more then the bounties them selves. Its hard to turn down that kind of money maker.

I cannot beat the 25mil/h although I fly a faction fitted navy raven... but it's probably because I don't have any skills that increase lp pay out. I also do amarr mission (melted caps roxxx:D)

I can't give an average because since coming back to the game I've only done 1 mission, but I got a total of 15m in bounty and reward, 3k LP and I sold all the loot for around 20m. So that 1 mission got me around 40m. It took about an hour to complete and hoovering up the loot/salvage took another hour, so 20m/hour for that one.
It's more than it used to be - and I was working off a high level agent in high sec in an abbadon. I think I could have done it quicker in a raven

I disagree with you. You are doing 10 millions hour on each characters, not 20 millions hour. It is a important difference.
It is like mining with 2 characters, if both characters are in mining barges you can do 6 millions with each character docking every time you are full (use extenders and rigs) and returning to the mining spot. If you use a miner and hauler combo you can get 10 millions total, so less than if you have 2 mining characters.
With pretty good skills and a T2 fit you can generally get 20 millions hour. A raven probably can get you to 25 millions hour.
Maybe you can get more if you are willing to risk lag and go in the big mission hubs where you can choose between multiple agents, dropping those missions with low rewards.
