I've had my account for 21 days and I am already thinking of quiting because I am a little frustrated with the Aunenen situation in Lonetrek.
Basically, I have lost 50% of my ISK because I can not get by the gate campers in Aunenen.
I have lost a ship with a bunch of equipment (ship was insured but my equipment lost is valued at 3,000,000 ISK). I got pod killed so I have no implants anymore. I have 2/3 of my wreck bounty in Uesuro on the wrong side of Aunenen and there is no way of getting there without going through Aunenen. (Yeah, I have checked the map, there is no path to Uesuro that does not go through Aunenen). And the only advice I got was "Log on early when the server comes up and you maybe able to get through before the start to camp again."
I have only 5 agents available to me, 4 are in Lonetrek. So my only recourse is just to abandon my stuff, move to The Citadel fo the short term. The worst part is for the SWA, my best agent is in Lonetrek, so my progression as an early character is hobbled.
OK... PvP is part of the game. But when huge capital ships can camp gates where new players *HAVE TO* go through, it sucks. It just sucks.
It would not complain if I have some decent skills and/or ships and was ready for some PvP action. But to have to deal with this 3 weeks in... well... it just sucks.

Move out of Caldari space. It's overpopulated, and that is why you run into so many gatecamps.

You actually have plenty of agents available to you in other space. Move to Amarr space for the most underpopulated areas. Set your autopilot for "Prefer Safer" to keep you out of low-sec for now. Move away from your early base. There's realy no need for you to stick around there.

What the other guys said... take a lower quaility agent a bit further away, even just moving down to The Citadel in the Haatomo/Juunigaishi systems is better than hanging around Aunenen
Or say forget running Caldari missions altogether, you can earn Caldari standings by running Amarr missions, and since you're new there should always be *at least* one good to decent agent available to you from any race/corporation

I lost my first ship in Aunenen. Admittedly it was an auto-piloting cormorant.
Last I checked, *surprise* you don't have to fly through that elephant's graveyard. Fly around it, not too hard. If you need good level three missions, head to kusomonmon or suroken. Or you could be a little bastard like myself and take from others.
I found the best way to escape grief is to bring it unto others.

I can understand your frustration, as someone who was a noob in the same area 4 and a bit years ago I can tell you that Aunenen has always been a pirate hotspot and a risk to go into. So, frustrating as it may be, nothing's happenning to you that hasn't happened to thousands of hapless pilots before you. It's no comfort, I'm sure, but it's part of life in Eve.
What advice i can offer - you don't have to go into aunenen. You can turn down a couple of agent missions in a four hour period (give or take) without loosing standings, so for now, just stick to missions that keep you in high sec, or less deadly low sec, systems. If you're unlucky enough to get 2 missions you don't want in close succession, move to another agent for a few hours. That'll keep you out of the danger zone at least.
After that, leave SWA and find a decent corp. If you find a good sized local corp there's a fair chance they'll have people in and out of aunenen too and so you'll be better placed to get intel on when it's safe to go in. Or you may find people willing to take a shuttle in ahead of you to see if the gate's clear. No matter how many skills and expensive ships you have, and no matter how long you've been playing, your friends are your strongest asset in Eve and you'd be well advised to make them early
That all said, gate camping a 0.4 gate close to noob systems in a cap ship is indeed lame.

They made life harder on the non pirate low sec population by making Hic's so overpowered, At least before you could fly safely through low sec in a Interceptor or a shuttle but know low sec is just as dangerous as 0.0 but with smaller fleets.

I've got some cheese and I'm bringing it to you as quick as I can.
If you can't escape a HIC in a ceptor you fail at EVE

Thanks for all the advice.
I guess I will abandon my stuff (about 3,000,000 ISK of wreck bounty - which I could really use by now) and find another home. I just wanted to buff my character in the State War Academy while I was young. I thought that is how I was going to learn the game.
Getting killed by NPCs while learning, well, is a learning experience. Getting gate camped by trolls in capital ships just seems lame.

Go to Youl. You can start missioning for the Amarr Navy there, and progress up to L2 agents in the very same system. You're running into pirates because Caldari space is overpopulated and choosing Caldari tells the world "I'm an ISK farmer". Get the hell out of Caldari space, in other words, and in fact re-roll your character now would be the best advice.

well at least the items will not be going anywere.
Best bet is to start fresh in a new area until you can geta gatebuster ship.
You could also start your own corp to take on the gatecampers. **--------**--------------** While blood, carnage, and distruction may be my "happy place" that is nothing like the feeling I get while hauling 2 mill isk in goods thru low sec. |

Getting into aunnen is not terribly hard, keep playing and learn. Join a 0.0 corporation as fast as you can, your learning curve will be a lot shorter.

You realize aunenen is the lowsec carrier jump point for like half the alliances in the north? Thats why its perma-camped, not because its close to some random noob starting system or whatever.
Although carriers camping the gate in aunenen tend to not last long unless its ours.

reprocess it and sell it. Buy new stuff at your new location. Doubt it is worth it to move.

You don't need to abandon it.
Either create a Contract for it, or learn the skill that lets you place sell-orders remotely. |

Best to get to 0.0 space as fast as you can, and live and LEARN there.
Join a 0.0 corp that is part of an alliance.
Decent ship + Ratting in 0.0 = ISK.

Interesting. I managed to mission in Lonetrek well into Lvl 4's for Caldari Navy and I was never forced into Low-sec. You're not trying hard enough and you're not being careful enough. If you dont want to go into low-sec, dont accept the mission, find another agent and do those. If you have to go low-sec, make an alt to scout it for you. And no amount of decent skills or ships will help you if you solo run into a a gatecamp of a few people, it's just more ISK to lose. Be happy you're learning the ropes now rather than later when you'll really have something to lose.

Set autorout to "avoid lowsec" and it will show you a route. It might be 20+ jumps bit it is save(er).

3 mil isk ain't ****. If you wish I'll transfer 10 mil to you just so you can move on.
Getting killed by npcs is shameful. And yes I have a bit of shame too. Ran like 30 buff camps in my cheeta and lost it to a 0.0 spawn after it appeared and decloaked me as I was taking a leak. Gah.
Getting killed by trolls in capitol ships is the true learning experience. It should be a wakeup call that Eve is not a place to tread lightly.
