#2 is wrong. It is a well known fact that the French, especially Parisians are ungrateful snobs. All Americans know this and dislike the French. Basically people see "French" and are immediately turned off by Gallente, however I love their ships and only fly them.
No. Just no.
Hahaha. Of course you would say no... you are Gallente.

I'm sorry, have you been to Paris? They are obviously ungratefully snobs, and anyone disagreeing with me is foolish and uninformed. I say "All Americans" because the vast majority of Americans dislike the French. The number of Americans that like the French is statistically insignificant, so PLEASE take your obvious bias toward French people elsewhere.
I have been to Paris, I didn't encounter one single discourteous person while I was there. Paris is a beautiful, cultured city with a sophisticated population.
Please, for the sake of not clogging up the forum's bandwidth with trivial, bigoted bull**** - Shut up.

Wow, 'why I chose caldari' in game, degenerates into RL bigotry and racism in less than two pages.
Very big and clever. Oh yes.
I chose Caldari, because I like the cyberpunk genre, and Caldari sounded pretty close. I liked the 'militaristic and organised' part too. The fact that their faces look approximately human was just a bonus.
For sure I had no clue as to what the implications of Caldari ships, in terms of game balance were, nor did I have any idea as to the relevance of stats.
Gallente seemed hedonistic wishy-washy liberals. Amarr had the 'omg slaver' stereotype. Minmatar have the 'tribal-ex-slaves' thing going on.
Caldari ... was the logical, and attractive alternative.

Sarcasm is rather hard to detect through text. I've encountered a lot of over-the-top racism is on the net, particularly on forums, so I took it seriously without thinking you could be kidding.
That being said, I'm glad you weren't serious. Sorry for my defensiveness.

I have to admit being the enemy of the French was part of my reasoning as well. Do not like them for the most part. Caldari are also very cold and calculating something I can empathize with. Also it seemed to make it out like they were a serious military force to be reckoned with that could whipe the floor with the Gallente, HAHAHAHAHAAAA! Nice thought.

There is no nanophoon.
As for the french part, while I don't care for nationalistic tendencies in this game or any game in general I foresaw this dislike of the french, for whatever reason it might be, it seems to just be the in thing these days and I went for the frogs just in spite, pure defiance, true gallente.

Well done.
Both a gross oversimplification of Parisian people and a blatant, and frankly ridiculous, generalisation as to the thoughts of "All americans"
I'm sorry, have you been to Paris? They are obviously ungratefully snobs, and anyone disagreeing with me is foolish and uninformed. I say "All Americans" because the vast majority of Americans dislike the French. 1/ You said "all americans".
2/ Yes I have been to Paris. I am unbiased towards the French, I have seen aspects of their national personality that I like and dislike. I am however biased towards people who make statements like you did: "all americans" suddenly turning into "the vast majority of" and also claiming that an entire nation (thats what, 300 million people?) flatly dislikes another (entire) nation of people. Even if it were true, which it is not, I doubt you should be the authority to state it. My problem is not with what you believe, it is the way you said it. I couldn't care less if you're stupid enough to believe what you said but to try and deconstruct what I said with obviously flawed statements which are devoid of truth is just insulting.
No harm done however.

There's one very prominent reason that is probably more important than any other.
1) They aren't Amarr.
Note: this isn't an Amarr whine. I personally like the fact that their ships suck before you get into a Battleship. ---- One day...one day General will be worth reading.

If I remember correctly, only the Gallente main bloodline are related to the French, and considering that ancestral tie is extremely old, it seems weird to consider this valid. Caldari are the most common race for several reasons but, i'm sorry, you can't really tie it to blood origin, not EVERYBODY is that conceited.
None the less, Gallente 4tw. I'm sorry, but drones man....drones.

I also chose the Caldari because they seem to be a fusion of American/Japanese culture. In my opinion, both America and Japan are relatively family/duty-oriented (despite our media), dedicated to working hard, and heavily capitalist. For example, a disproportionate amount of mega-corporations in RL are American or Japanese.
I also considered Amarr or Gallente...the Gallente are very engaging, and I consider them to be an amalgamation of modern European countries. Very focused on the rights of the individual, freedom, and the arts. (Sorry, my fellow Americans, but Europe often outstrips us there.)
The Amarr seem to be drawn from a mix of Catholic and Eastern Orthodox ancestries. In fact, the Amarr remind me of nothing so much as the Byzantine Empire. Huge, ungainly, and very bureaucratic.
The Minmatar are, of course, the third world in many ways, though also young, strong, and growing fast. Go minnie!
This is, of course, my perspective. I mainly chose them because I value many of the same things the Caldari are said to embody: duty, family, and work.

Actually the people who get refered to the game also get taught and you have to admit, Caldari ships are the easiest to understand. Missiles use no cap, always hit so tracking isnt a problem. Optimal and falloff isnt a problem you just need to work out flight time etc. Shield boosting is easier that armor reps cause its quick.

Well you do have a point. The 4 choices (from a role-play perspective) are: 1) fascist holy empire, 2) rag tag ex-slaves, 3) narcissistic, meddling descendants of the French, and 4) high tech and highly talented soldiers who won a war of independence.
Its not hard to see why 4) is so much more popular, to the uninitiated noob.
Its also always struck me as odd why the Gallente are described as "descended from the French". I mean it's obviously not a problem for me (seeing as I picked it), but it seems so unnecessary. The games is set 10's of thousands of years in the future, after a perioid of massive colonization, a huge catastrophic dark age, and a complete rebuilding of society from the stone age and up. What possible relevance does the "French" thing have? Its not like all the others have got a similar label- Gallente are the only group in the game to have their specific, pre-EVE-gate origins spelled out, and I can't honestly see why. And bearing in mind RL cultural biases, it seems positively counter-productive. ------
