Hi fellow Pod pilots,
For many years now I have been asking and hoping for change within EVE-Online. We as friends online in the same corporation have spent many nights discussing what should be and how best to solve problems within the game. I feel that by applying for CSM this will give me the first real chance to promote what we have discussed and the best way to represent the community. Many will agree that some changes are still required, some more important than others. Please have read through below and let me know what you think.
Restore the Balance
The single biggest issue with EVE Online at this stage is balance. With all the changes and additions, the older core systems have never been revised or updated, merely patched. Smaller adjustments are made in an attempt to restore some balance.
Why do we play games? To get a reward, if we donGÇÖt get the reward we expect then we move to the next game that will hopefully provide that reward. The more effort you put in the greater your reward should be.
Reward can be found in many forms in EVE Online; killing others, collecting assets, mining to attain massive wealth, mission run to attain favour with the empires, manage a super corp, etc... With the idea of EVE-Online, you can choose what gives you the greatest reward.
Currently these rewards are severely imbalanced and really need to be adjusted so that the value factor can be more even across all features.
Systems that need to be reworked:
- Moon minerals are imbalanced. They were a reason to fight for but the control by super alliances makes this a null and void feature for newcomers to EVE and 0.0.
- Ore/Mineral prices are skewed and should be rebalanced. With the introduction of WH space and the Drone regions the most sought after minerals in 0.0 is over mined and has caused their prices to crash. If you do not have 10+ Hulk pilots you cannot currently match the income of having 1 GÇô2 pilots doing Incursions for example.
- Sovereignty changes in Dominion has not promoted smaller groups to get involved in 0.0
- Concepts that were suggested where never implemented, e.g. treaties, new sov upgrades, etc...
- ISK/Hour is severely skewed across different sources. Mining vs. Ratting vs. Plexing vs. Incursions.
- Super Capitals have had a nerf recently due to the log out timer. This is great! But now more than ever itGÇÖs become a Mexican standoff. Nobody is prepared to commit to fights unless they are absolutely sure they have more of those classes of ships. There should be more open discussions. Adjusting the ships will not fix these classes of ships; more in depth research needs to be done to resolve this issue. Again a Balance problem.
- Older players, like me, need some more new goals to strive for.
Reason I would ask for your support:
- Started playing EVE in early 2005 / Long time player.
- Lived in every class of space in New Eden
- Currently have 7 accounts that are now all 95mill SP+.
- Own at least one of ever ship class from frigates, to supercarriers to titans.
- Done large scale mining, production, including super building and station construction.
- Strong understanding of game design, networking and physics.
- If you enjoy some of the more non-pvp related specialized professions like me. I wish to see it get some more focus!
- I would like to push for some more of the community driven ideas for new content and game mechanics.
- I have a burning desire to get more involved in the future of EVE-Online and the CSM will be a great start for me to achieve this goal.
- Lastly and most importantly. I would like to see Balance restored in the game ISK/hour and the specialized professions need to get more love.
About me
I live in Pretoria, South Africa. I am 29 this year. I have been gaming since I was about 6 years old and still game today. The first game I played was Pong on an old black and white TV. I am currently working for the largest ISP in Africa and my work position title is GÇ£Gaming Services ManagerGÇ¥. Current responsibilities are to develop and support one of the largest gaming organisations in Africa.
I have a degree in Computer Science which I received from the University of Pretoria, with focus in Databases, AI and computer graphics. Together with the above mentioned responsibilities I do game programming and web development.
I am happy to discuss my ideas and suggestions and hope that you will support me in helping build EVE-Online!

Catchphrases are very tricky because you run the risk of them being a flop and because you can easily overplay it such that even if it was initially humorous it becomes a bore; similarly, gimmicks if proven popular can quickly become run into the ground and then you're left with no leg to stand on once they've run their course. A possible solution is to just be a posting superstar whose prolific body of work is so large and diverse that any particular catchphrase or gimmick that begins to wane in favourability is simply discarded and replaced with a new one off the cuff like it ain't no thang.

Possibly, but I doubt anyone who gives me likes is doing so because of the fact I made a female Achura with a flat chest and a disproportionately large head.
