I Turned on Eve-TV and they didn't have anything good to say about minmatar. Though I haven't flown in the tournament, it is something I would really love to do. Minmatar ships; however, have the greatest ability (when flown correctly) to win the tournament! I have a fleet setup for the tournament which would be pretty much unstoppable. I posted about it last tournament and am happy to help a team win the tournament (for a small fee). Feel free to convo me with questions in game, and if you have any disbelief about my ability to fit fleets and setup ships, simply talk to anyone in my corp/alliance history! Eve is based mostly around math (and logic), so the people who do the math will always have an advantage. If any of the eve announcers would think logically about it, they would realize that the minmatar have the greatest mathematical advantage for fitting ships in the tournament! I'm also happy to debate anyone who feels differently!

Mathematical advantages are the best kind tbh.
There was one great armchair general who convoed one of our guys to offer his insight after the fight. Seeing his "setup", much laughter ensued |

Well I would think after losing in a fight that bad, you would take any advice given :-P Either way, I would love to see someone fit ships more effective than me. I'm willing to take any challenge posted!

Minmatar don't tank well. They also tend to do lower dps than other races. The biggest strength they have in normal PvP is their speed and tackling ability, neither of which do much in the tournement since people can't warp out, and if you go too fast, you'll go out of bounds.

Maybe if you have no clue how to fit their ships :-D. Matar actually have the greatest ability to be effective assuming they don't need to worry about tackling (which, coincidentally, the tournament creates that exact situation)!

funny thing is there is no unbeatable set up.
if you state you have an unbeatable setup, your off the bat a bad FC.

This time, my setup is for sale! If I could fly for an alliance in the tournament, I would also be for sale! I'd actually probably just join up any alliance who would let my fight in the tournament for them since its something id love to do!

This essentially.
In the tournament you rely on tanking or pure DPS, neither of which Minmatar do particularly well by their nature of being a fast-strike skirmish based race.
Minmatar can do both things, like any race, but they can't do it as well. There isn't any reason in most cases to go for a Minmatar ship over that of another race.

Though in most situations I would agree with you, after estimating the chance that someone would create a actual counter setup to my fleet, I am happy to declare it unstoppable for the time being. We shall see though! If anyone enters my fleet, I would love to see something even come close to stopping it. Though, you have to be a very good FC and have good pilots to make the fleet work correctly!

NO... Minmatar merely require more SP to be as effective; however, minmatar can effectively tank and do 'EFFECTIVE' RAINBOW damage, which can be very useful.

I have exclusivly flown minmatar ships since 2003, and while I dont agree that minmatar ships are entirely useless in the tournement I would be hard pressed to think of a pure minmatar setup that i'd be confident in.
They simply arent suited to this style of pvp. If there were no boundries, it might be another story, as speed would come into play. They are middle of the road in everything but speed.

I totally understand where people are coming from with this whole speed deal. The problem is everyones lack of ability to think outside the box with ship fitting. Though I would rather not give any hints as to my specification of fleet fitting for the alliance tournament, lets just say it would be unfair to say that minmatar NEED speed for the ship setup! From day 1 I have been 100% pure minmatar and fitted out thousands of ships for any race. IMO the minmatar have some of the most stacked ships in the game: (rifter, rupture, vagabond) and although they are all smaller ships, thats perfect for use in the tournament!

as the OP says is a math factor...
lower tank + lower dps = you are going to die horribly
sure minnies get advantage to speed but bigger it get the ship and less is advantage is noticeable and really usefull
also in past changes minnies got quite big nerfs, more hps to ships made arty alpha less important, the idea to make ecm and damp more "specialized" is an indirect nerf to the minnie ships who armortank but have couple of mid slots to spare, same for nos nerfs as most minnie ships have more non primary weapon high slots than other races
note that most of these changes where good but in a way or another they reduced the minnie ships potential by a good margin so at this time, cept a pair of exceptions, minnie have not really much to put on the field, expecially in a enviroment so "strict" as the "tournament arena"

Unfortunately, rather than address the slot layout/tanking issues for Minmatar the Devs have simple declared that it makes us "versitile".

Lower tank and lower dps... hrmm well its good for a laugh but where is your math to show the difference from ohh.... say.... uh... the rupture to any other cruiser! DPS and TANK wise... I would love to see how it has LOWER dps and tank than other ships WITHIN restriction to fitting capabilities (thanks)!

call us up, we will let you test your unbeatable set up on us. If you give me ample notice, i will even field a similar force...best way to test your theory is under fire.
I'll even fit for tourney rules, to make it totally fair. You have till the tourney's final, and if your set up holds up under fire, I'll be sure to come back here and give a decent battle report as to the outcome.
In EVE, everything pretty much boils down to "proof or stfu"

I will simply say without getting into the whole flame crap started by some here.
Although Broch is a tad insane, I have not seen many able to fit a ship as madly as he does. I would personally have no doubt that a fleet that was put together using the fits he might suggest would have good odds.

THEY WHO DOUBT BROCH JUST DONT KNOW!!!!
As Space said broch is insane and his setups are just that. Very few people are able to think outside the box when it comes to setups, Broch is one of those people. Broch will never be caught in a cookie cutter setup. Some people laugh at his setups cause they dont understand, but once they see it in action they shut up and run cowering.
To add to a statement i said about broch once.
