You haven't noticed that eh last survey used the number of jumps, not the number of characters?
That mean that they are active characters. You can wish to be a "hardcore 0.0 denizen" as much as you want, but if half of your time and activity is spent in high sec, you are a 50% 0.0 denizen and a 50% high sec carebear.
I wish to be a multimillionaire, but the fact that there was more than 1 million euro for some minute on my bank account while I was selling the old house and buying a new one don't make me one.

If the denizens of Low-Sec and 0.0 want "Empire Huggers" to experience life on their side of the fence, may I make a suggestion....
Collectivley excercise judicious restraint and not pull the freakin trigger on anything and everything that moves.
Hey! Val...we would you like to invite you to our house warming party. We have hired the finest caterer and we will be hosting several games and we will be handing out some great prizes.
(Val accepts the invitation)
(Val arrives at the party, bearing gifts herself and looking very dapper)
(Val rings the bell and the door opens and she takes a step inside....and there upon the foyer she is struck suddenly in the head from behind, bum rushed from the front and punched in the gut, beaten to a bloody and unrecognizable pulp, stripped naked, raped and robbed and tossed headfirst out the front door)
later...in the forums
Oh! Val why did you not come back? The party was just getting started...What did you think of our hospitality? And by the way...thanks for the gifts they were great.
If I were to pass up on getting a person in a destroyer, I might not kill anyone that evening. I don't camp gates, so finding people who are ratting in belts is my main source of income. Its really that simple. The reason why pirates don't pass up on small targets is because they might be the ONLY targets.

You know what I hate when I'm ratting? When some idiot comes into the system and wrecks my chained spawns.

And thus the carebears starve you of targets by refusing to come be your only snack of the night.

I have recently moved to Null Sec space just to see what goes on out there. I have found that whilst the rewards in both isk and LP's for lvl 4 missions are generally better, they are not so great as to outweigh the risks involved. I suspect the reason why the 0.0 corps and alliances want more people down there are this- the battles are generally against the same people. If alliance A fights alliance B its going to be the same people fighting day after day. This will become a tad boring in the end. And once you have seen off the opposing corp/alliance, what next? You either move further afield or you turn on each other. So, I think they want more people down their to be the targets of their operations. If they dont have targets, they dont have a game. That which does not kill us makes us stronger. The Universe is ruled by three basic principles- Matter, Energy and Enlightened Self-Interest! |

If all you're interested in is cheap kills, don't be surprised people don't feel inclined to come give them to you.
The ability of people to stay safely in hi sec is awesome simply for the whines and tears it generates on the forums.
