I remember that saying, that respect is earned and not given.
This is really the case in the tourney  . You earn your compliments from the matches you win, and how you win them - style points.

Got to say but so what if they beat up on you if you're winning?
Take a look at the footage on the two U'K matches.... Our rep coming into this tourny? bad. we did ok in the first and crap in the second, none factors in the 3rd and 4th as we weren't here. KIA, past history.
Opening match, vs KIA. KIAEdz on panel, unsuprisingly, roots for his team, smacks us a bit and plays it a bit liberal with the truth... so what. Obviously he'll support his own team and if he thinks we'll be a walk over then thats his own call. We win the match convincingly and there's only so much he can say to talk it down.
MM, I believe it was called a whitewash against us in the first 10sec by a commentator and the studio called it against us again. We won that match also with a convincing end result.
Day 3, didn't fight but got a fair bit of air time, various people gave us new respect, various people (Edz.... :P) actually said something nice about us! why? because we had fought well, nothing else has happened to change their opinions on us.
Get out there and make a name for yourself. If you get into the knockouts as a small alliance, relatively unknown, you'll be recieving a fair bit of scruitiny and there's a fair chance you'll have done a lot right and I expect you'll get credit for that in the commentary. Its rather unlikely that you just managed to 'get lucky' in 4 matches in a row after all!
Stiff upper lip, don't complain, get the job done. If you win then what does it actually matter what the commentators said in the opening stages? :)

Well, even we were slated, our first setup which was apparently extreme defense, wasn't anywhere near extreme defense, it was simply built around defense.. This annoyed me somewhat.
Also we are the only team yet to not lose one single ship, and not fail to kill the entire opposition team, but hardly any praise thrown our way.
Also eddz is only saying all that stuff, cos he is jealous of stavros who is in a cool alliance.

? You mean of teams which have played 3 matches? There's several other teams which have THD'd all of their matches thus far.

As stated previously.
As of yet:
Molotov Coalition
Notoriety Alliance
Green Alliance
and
Evoke
are the only teams will all possible points as of week 1.
Seems Tri lost some points too :P
Most of these teams have only had 2 fights, but all have max points.

On a more serious note, everyone is going to take flak at some point as opinions change and teams under or over perform.
As experts, we have to review the negatives as well as the positives, and if a team hasn't been doing well then there are more negatives to talk about.
Logic wins the thread.

Ive watched almost all the games. I think the comenating has been great. I have learnt alot as a new player. I do think alot of the big player have got alot of stick. But they are just that big player who should know better than to bring awful setups. or borring ones. they should know the entertaiment value they can provide. also it keeps getting said over and over again that in the group stages you need to kill stuff, the spend the hole match grinding is for the knock out stages.
every game and comentry i have watched has been in good humor. people are just getting bored. |

I can see both sides of this argument. This is hydra's first tourney, and 2-1 isn't bad, especially since we aren't a big pvp alliance, yet i haven't heard one positive word about any of our matches on evetv. The way they handled our third match was disgusting. We fielded a similar team to what Tri fielded in their first match, yet our setup was boring, wtf.
One a positive note, those teams that are getting respect are earning it with wins. Alot of the smack has been about teams that are expected to do well in the tourney, like MC, who are kick-arse at pvp in general, they just can't seem to do it well in the tourney. I think a little more objectivity would be nice, but imo that isn't the way people generally are, and the evetv people are just normal people, why would u expect better from them.
No matter what has been said and how we finish, this tourney has been a blast, and we hope to improve in next tourney. GL to those who end up advancing, and if we can't win TRI better. If u don't win u are total noobs.
