Thank you.
Um.. How am I supposed to bug report missing resolutions when I no longer have a client that lets me know what resolutions were available?

Yes I had this problem after patch, I play on 32 in widescreen in window mode at 1280 x 720 res, this is because using 768 resolutions I lose part of the display. However I can no longer see the 1280 x 720 resolution to select it as the after the patch it defaults to fullscreen mode.
I have got round this by copying the Pc.dat and user.dat files from the EVe/cache/settings folder to the new settings folder in the Eve directory folder, this has restored the 1280 x 720 resolution window operation but this resolution is still not available to be selected in the graphics settings area.
It should be noted that due to previous patches doing nasty things to Charachter prefs etc I did backup each of my clients cache folders to maintain latest BMs/ folder and Char settings as they have been known to be lost. This is where I copied the PC.dat and User.dat files from however you might still have the old pre patch files in the old Cache/setting folder.

Yeah, my choice of resolutions is missing too.
As far as I can tell, CCP doesn't have a lot of different machines to test their game on. They probably have nice, big widescreen monitors as well. I have a smaller monitor and can't afford a nice, big widescreen monitor (I have payments on a nice, big widescreen TV instead.) I really wish CCP would test things on a variety of machines before throwing out another patch.
Honestly, none of the remaining resolutions look good and if I have to choose between A). playing in one of the current resolutions, B). buying a new monitor, or C). leave EVE, I will just leave. I am very tired of having to reconfigure after every patch -- no matter of content or lack of wimps will counterbalance the level of frustration I have faced with the last three patches -- I've lost all my market settings, my computer didn't restart after it forced a reboot after patch, and now my resolution is missing.
Must I spent 2-4 hours after each patch just getting the game to a playable level? No other MMO has problems like this after a patch, and we're not even going to talk about the downtime of EVE compared to other games.
Please CCP, get with the program. |

There's a 1440x900 in the range you're claiming as missing.

Now would be a good time for CCP to allow user configurable resolutions in window mode.

"No other MMO has problems like this after a patch" - U never played WoW
"and we're not even going to talk about the downtime of EVE compared to other games." - U never played WoW
After almost every single wow patch, u have to update ur addons(ui mods) and reconfigurate them. To make a decent UI in wow u probably have to do this with about 15 addons.
Every Wednesday u have a downtime of 6-12 hours, on patchdays up to 15 and unplayable servers for the next 2 days. Even if no patch was applied , older servers are just laggy. At the top of that, queues of 400 at primetime per good servers are normal.
pls dont compare to other mmo¦s if u have no clue.
P.S.: sorry for my crappy english

Um, I am subscribed to WoW and EVE both at this very moment -- and have been for several months. I will compare the two, thank you very much.
First, you need an interface to play a game. On WoW, I have never had to spend hours reconfiguring my interface. Secondly, patching WoW has never caused my computer to not restart. Thirdly, Blizzard doesn't randomly remove resolution options, thus making the game unplayable.
Kindly, go copulate alone.

Speaking as somebody who has been suffering from developer's incompetencies since before the dawn of the PC, I have a suggestion (learnt from the darkest depths of experience) that will solve all of your (CCP) grfx problems. Collect up all your monitors, screens, PCs, terminals, etc. and distribute the crappiest, cheapest, oldest machines out to your developers. The next oldest machines should go to the managers. Then, after maybe two or three years, they will perhaps learn that not everybody has a max-specced PC fitted out with the latest and cutting edge graphics card driving a 36 inch monitor with 48,000 * 24,000 resolution and capable of operating at 350 FPS.
I am currently affected by two problems post-patch - there may be more but I can't get that far. I too used a (not remembered) resolution that is no longer available which offers me two solutions - fill the screen with windows (even when reduced to minimum) that also drastically reduce the available information due to text size, e.g. the list of names in local, or use 1280*1024 which leaves text that can only be read from about 9 inches. And the second problem appears to be one of overworking the card. (17" monitor with a 6600 card.)
Now I can maybe eliminate the most pressing of these by going from a 17" to a 20+" screen and hope that the bigger screen increases the text size to legibility. If it doesn't then I'll let you decide what I should do from the following options :-
1) Spend somewhere around 1000 UKP to buy a high spec PC to cope with the graphics load - a problem I only find in Eve or 2) Pack in Eve and save 2 subscriptions.
And before anybody wants to start offering suggestions which include doing all the stuff that's already been suggested - it doesn't work.

any ETA of a fix for this issue? I really can't run this game in windowed mode until this is fixed, and considering I have more than 1 account, this is frustrating to no end.
I can either play only 1 account in windowed mode.
Or I can't play as I either get too small of a resolution or my other two options push the bottom of the screen off the desktop viewing area and I can't click things like undock from station, and have problems seeing the bottoms of the chat windows, etc etc.. --------------------- Creator of another Mining Calculator |

I've just re-installed Eve on my laptop, I used to play in a windowed mode that was a little smaller than my max res of 1440x900, and god knows what res that was.
So any news on a fix to get these res's back? I know it's not a driver issue since I've never changed the driver on the laptop. Please CCP get something put in place, hell even a windowed mode that was not limited to a specific size would be nice.
The only reason I re-installed eve was due to a work mate thought that the problem with my mouse pad could be resolved by going back to factory settings - it worked for about 30 seconds until Vista updates kicked in

It was not automatic updates, it was a manual install of ALL important updates from MS. All I needed to do was re-install the mouse pad's drivers to fix the problem, but since I don't use the mouse pad as I have a mouse attached to the laptop 99% of the time I was not bothered...
I just want my 1280x720 (I think that was the video mode as it's the next one down in desktop size settings) resolution back...
Or a user definable window size which would be nice :D.

EVE worked fine on Windows 98/ME... until CCP decided it didn't. I suspect they didn't want to deal with an unsupported OS -- or maybe Microsoft paid CCP to discontinue the older OS. Who knows, maybe CCP got some extra money from the monitor manufacturers to try and boost the hardware sales of newer monitors? |

I still can't play in fullscreen at all. The EVE client forces my computer into a resolution or refresh rate that my monitor can't support. My monitor supports all standard resolutions so I can't understand how this can be.
EVE is the only game that does this, or has ever done this in the 14 years that I've been PC gaming.
What the hell, please?

Alright, got full-screen working by using the box on the display options instead of alt-enter. From there I was able to switch to a supported resolution before applying the changes.
But 1152x864 is missing, bug reported it.

After filing my new bug report I got a reply stating that the issue had been fixed on internal servers.
Perhaps that is why it didn't show up on the known issues list... let's hope so.

I agree but they said that it would be rolled out with the next official patch if they couldn't hotfix it. But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

I'm having the same problem, I used to be able to play in windowed mode and it occupied about half my screen and I could surf the web or do other stuff while playing Eve, it was wonderful. Now, all the resolutions don't work very well with windowed mode. This wouldn't be as big of a problem for me if you didn't have that bug where if I press the windows key or alt + tab and try to get into Eve but it doesn't let me in sometimes. Please fix this one either the alt + tab/windows key problem or the resolution problem.
