11/03/2008 EVE Gets a Boost Trinity 1.1: Boost Patch has launched, filled with helpful and thrilling modifications, and not a single 'nerf'.
I think CCP may have a different definition in their database for the word "nerf"
STONE76 > wouldn't reducing the explosive resists of tech 1 ships constitute a nerf? Frank Crocodile > it is STONE76 > didn't they specifically state 'no nerf' in this patch? Phyridean > yes, they meant the foam-dart slinging toy guns Kailin Balien > reduce resistances hasn't been set up yet i believe Phyridean > oh no, it's in effect, Kailin Phyridean > your base EM armor resist is now 50% instead of 60% Phyridean > and exp on shields has been similarly reduced
hmm....weird....if it looks like a nerf, and smells like a nerf, I guess that doesn't make it a nerf if CCP says so. By taking away they meant adding to I guess. Didn't all ships get all extra shields armor and cap in a patch or two ago to make the fights able to last longer? Now they took that away a bit....tastes like a nerf to me.
p.s. if you want to make amarr more effective, reverse their damage output from EM Thermal to Thermal EM.

I'd add in the whole new undocking behavior as a rather large nerf. Whether you agree with it or not it fits the definition.

i dont see how lowereing resists is not considered a nerf. i agree with stone in the fact that the "problem" with the amarr shis is their damage type EM/therm. i think it could be easilly solved with a set of new frequency crystals that were maybe therm/em..... sounds like a improvement and not a cross the board nerf of t1 ship resists.

see definition of nerf: In computer gaming, a nerf is a change to a game that downgrades the power, effectiveness or influence of a particular game element in the attempt to achieve balance. The term originated as a reference to the NERF brand of child toys, which are made to minimize possible damage. In the same way, "to nerf" describes the action of making something less harmful.
my point is anyone can try to sugar coat it all they want. a nerf is a nerf.

Actually, reducing resists against EM/Explosive makes those weapons MORE damaging. So they INCREASED the power of those weapons (albeit indirectly). So a large number of weapons and drones and fighters just became MORE effective and MORE damaging.
So it's a reverse nerf. Let's call it a fren since you seem to live and breathe by stuff that the internet tells you to say or believe.

Nerfs in game balance don't exist.
If you nerf all the players, then you boosted the environment.
If you boost all the players, you nerfed the environment.
If you boost "X", then all "not X" have been nerfed.
If you nerf "Y", then all "not Y" have been boosted.
Here is a real example of balancing with chemicals.
5*C5H12 + 40*O2 = 25*CO2 + 30*H2O
to
C5H12 + 8*O2 = 5*CO2 + 6*H2O
OMG IT ALL GOT NERFED. /WRISTS
Balance always involves two sides to an equation. If you don't understand that, you've lost your right to talk. Ever.

This nerf benefits Minmatar EMP ammo users the most. Then it benefits Amarr laser users. Caldari and Gallente don't get any benefit, only the nerfing.

I provided a definition to settle any doubts of what a nerf means. Unfortunately it appears that you seem to live and breathe by the stuff that CCP tells you, pathetic really. That's ok, the world is full of sheep so you are not alone.
By reducing resists across the board you obviously increase the damage by drones and weapons. The point is that the resists were "taken away" "nerfed". Please continue to read into my statements and make moronic comments. Boost damage directly, that is a boost...take away resists to add damage "although indirectly" is a nerf.

Unless they have drones or missiles that deal EM / Exp damage.

Speaking of...did anyone see that new NERF mini-gun? It has a belt fed chain of 25 darts that fire rapidly. Even comes with a little tripod.
With some duct tape you could start mounting them to ships. New ammo type, NERF dart.

This is the very reason why i rarely decide to make points on the forums. I must accept the fact that most are mentally challenged or yearning for some sort of credibility they don't get when not playing a video game. Especially the yahoo who resorted to balance some chemical equation to prove his pointless point.
Go shoot a structure, more damage? uh no. thank you and good night.

If this balancing is positive or negative is a question about mindset. If you change the balance anywhere in the game it will have a negative effect on something and a positive effect on something else. Think about a scale, to have one side of the scale go up the other side has to go down. This is the art of balancing.

well a UNIVERSAL negative effect to ALL resist, sure seems like a nerf, no matter how it gets spun by the PR department. --

If the resist nerf had been applied to NPC's aswell, I might agree with you --

Ahh ok I get it so it was a BOOST only patch, if you were an NPC. Great...most excellent, where can I sign up to become an NPC.

When are NPCs getting titans, when are they getting carriers, when will they have the hitpoint increase that all player ships got 2 years ago.
i'm talking more like these sniping torpedo rats and such the weapon systems should be the same.

A scale.
I see, so its all for our own good and we should just accept being lied to?
It was a nerf across the board to the only two races I play, so just come clean and admit it, then reverse it.
How hard could it be to change the percentage of damage done by beams to another type? New crystals?

its kinda dumb to have a ship shoot torpedoes at you from 100km away when you get like 25-30 km with em. And because its still on the same damage scale so it would be nice to be consittant.

Duh, NPCs are way too hard in this game. I mean, NPCs be rollin', players be hatin'. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
