So all your character data would need to be doubled for adding one or two extra slots (which would even just be the skill id numbers) for use in a queue? The size of the data covering your wallet transactions would dwarf the added variables needed to store a few extra skills.
You'd only need to check for a skill queue once, and thats when you've verified they've completed the current skill. Thats one extra operation that only occurs after a skill is complete, and only then, the extra overhead there is going to be minimal.
And if you're worried about people queuing up ridiculously long skills make it so that if your first skill exceeds a certain amount of time (a month, a week, whatever) that your next skill can only be 24 hours long. Although that itself isn't much a problem as if someone was just logging into to update their skill once every month, they're not adding much to the community anyhow.

Simplest solution would be to allow to queue only 2nd skill.
If you cant log due to various reasons: net problems, vacation, PC broken, extended downtime, etc. after 1st skill is finished, 2nd selected skill continues. When 2nd skill finishes, then everything stops. That's all.
Cons: Character farming is little bit easier, but that's small price compared with what is given.

If ccp is affraid people will not log in anymore... why not make it a part of the gameplay? Give people for example 1 queue credit for xxx LP or for completing a mission. This way, people who dont play the game, will not get queue credits. Because it works with credits, you will not get an infint queue so you will have to use it well... perhaps give a starting account some queue credits (not a trial account).

Just please let us have a second skill "queue"
When i come home from work my wife will often go mad and yell "Can't you just come home one night and not turn your damn PC on" Because i need to set Cheese grating III or whatever.
All because i have to micro my skills.
I tried asking her to set a skill going while i was at work once...
Never again...

For those nay-sayers who are downplaying and saying 'God forbid you play the game': go on a vacation - let us know what you think when you go for 33 days or more (BS5 is about that). Have fun with the wasted days.
Also, bear in mind someone else changing your skills for you can get you banned. --

We don't really need a queue. Just continue the training until level 5 is hit. No extra database calls, no extra cpu time, no real ability for farmers to not pay for the account the next month, no downside at all. Everybody wins.
You and your alliance will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

You are asking that CCP create yet another new untested feature when they already cannot deploy patches that don't require several weeks and extended/unscheduled downtimes to get working?
/sarcasm
To bad they will never do this.. It is far too logical, and far too many people actually want it. Also, it is not a nerf, and I cannot figure out any way to "boost" anything else to make what you want happen.
if you don't have any technical knowledge of what it would take you shouldn't comment on it dude...
they already have all the coding for skills, the system and the switching, all they need to but in is a few lines of code, either it works or it don't,what they need to but in is not something that could create any major bugs, in worse scenario the skill will not switch automatically, but it is so little they need to field in that it shouldn't be a problem if done with some intelligence I declare war on stupidity |

actually this would be a bigger issue to do since you would need to althor the existing coding making it a much higher risk case. so would be a worse solution then just a skill queue you decide yourself I declare war on stupidity |
