It's right in the same way cigarette manufacturers have got it right. WoW's infinite grind is addictive, but not much else. ---------------- Tarminic - 33 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.79.2 |

Originally by: Montague Zooma "Easy" and "hard" are irrelevant. Neither quality makes a game a good game.
If "hard" is the true defining fun factor, then we should all be competing in triathlons or trying to solve things like the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birch_and_Swinnerton-Dyer_conjecture).
So what if WoW is easy? Apparently, a lot of people have fun playing it. Isn't that what counts? I'd probably play it if I hadn't already burned out on Everquest long ago. I play Eve because it's a different fun experience compared to other games I've played. I don't care how "hard" it is. It's imaginary spaceships, for crying out loud!
Sex is pretty easy, too, but I don't see people complaining about its lack of complexity.
I think what people are referring to here is challenging. WoW may not be easy per se, but it generally doesn't require much active brain use either. ---------------- Tarminic - 33 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.79.2 |

Gimme five minutes and I bet I can find ten. ---------------- Tarminic - 33 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.79.2 |

Really? Get 40 ppl to clear Black Wing Lair, or better yet, AQ40. It takes sometimes Weeks to plan strategies just to clear the trash to get to the bosses, let alone the bosses themselves (Endgame Raids). Raids needed brains, coordination, flawless execution, situational awareness (ty vent). Of course, that was the Top 10%, which says something.
I still wish I started playing EvE years ago.
I was more referring to the process of getting from level 1-70, but that is a good point. ---------------- Tarminic - 33 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.79.2 |

Originally by: Dramund WoW doesn't cater to a varied type of gamer, it caters to a varied type of person. Anyone who has grown up on games can tell you how horribly easy it is to even master PvP in WoW or how following the "boss-kill-script" takes no extra work aside from memorizing it.
This has always been my problem with WoW - It's difficult in the sense that preparing for a vocabulary test is difficult, but it's not actually challenging. WoW required memorization, EVE requires understanding concepts and implementing them in different situations, which (in my opinion) is real learning and real challenge. ---------------- Tarminic - 33 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.79.2 |
