Got a 360 myself due to mass-effect and a few other titles (plus xbox live) Did not like the ps3 much, it's controller seemed kinda strange and awkward (probably due to the bumper being the trigger) and current titles as-well as forth-coming titles were pretty un-interesting to me. This alone, plus the actually realistic (for once) physics of the game would make me buy a PS3. To Spawny, a great guy, a great laugh. Rest in peace buddy.

If I had the money, there would be very little to get me into buying a ps3. Less choice in games, more expensive games, gfx (from what I have seen) are nothing spectacular, online gaming is subpar plus sony shfted the euro's by not making it ps2 compatible, I truly hate sony for that. Maybe in a few years they will be able to make use of it's potential, prices will fall, blueray discs wont be over inflated prices, they will make it less chunky and ugly. I'm not a complete m$ fanboi though as I fear the red ring of death, 360 can sometimes lack the power to truly make games shime, it's all about the money (M$ points and the live malarky), no freaking x16 asf!!!. Hopefully the next gen consoles will fare better.

The 360 basic cheapo model is indeed very cheap and MS has slashed it again recently. But you don't get a HDD, its not got HD output etc etc. Its pretty bloody gimped. PS3's all come with HDD (I got mine early so its got more media device slots than the ones out there now, but its still feature packed). What this means is that PS3 games can all take advantage of HDD, which is great for developers. In fact dev's have become more vocally critical of 360 and started to enjoy the PS3 which is slowly becoming the lead dev platform. There's also growing concern about the near future of the 360 and where its headed. As regards to software, if you like mediocre sports games, on the rails shooters, keggers and knuckle punching your mates going DUUUUDEE - then the 360 is for you. PS3's software lineup is starting to mature (MGS, Little Big Planet, Haze, GT5) while a lot of multi platform hits are also coming up. All this without taking into account the failure rate of the console. If you are thinking about buying a 360, or want to know more about the failure rate this is a must read. MS have still refused to comment on this article.

Both my boys (9 &5) love the Wii, I play it with my mates after a few beers, and even the wife (who never played any sort of 'computer game' before we got it) joins in. It may not have spanky graphics, or the best hardware, but it is - by far - the most fun console I have ever owned. Eve-Online: The Text Adventure

Now as for best console, the ps3 is fine but its pretty pricey, not to mention I plain out like the 360 better.

The PS3 comes at a comparable price now, and there aren't enough exclusive games for either system for that alone to swing my decision. When it came time to buy Rock Band, I bought a PS3 along with it. I just got a Wii in the last week (they're still almost impossible to find in my area). My friends had a blast with Tennis. Rock Band intimidates some people, as they feel they need actual musical skill to play (if you watch some of the YouTube vids, you'll know otherwise), so for party games, I think it'll be Wii all the way. Plus, there are exclusives for the Wii that actually matter (Metroid, Smash, Mario). The only PS3 exclusive I care about is GT5. Still, Rock Band and Burnout Paradise are a blast on the PS3. At this point, I struggle to see a reason for an x360.

The 360, however, I've had since launch and the only fault I've had is with one of the original controllers which gave up last week. I wouldn't mind a ps3 but I don't have a hd tv, don't really watch dvds, and the only game I'm interested in is Gran Turismo, hopefully it'll make it worthwhile to buy it.

Then got a PS3 with The Darkness, Guitar hero III, Assassin's Creed (meh)... The 360 is inferior. It had over a year to build a library, and programmers to learn it. The PS3 is catching up, and some games (Burnout) show that the 360 simply cannot go where the PS3 will stay. Have you seen the Wipeout HD trailer, in 60 FPS and 1080 support? PS3 is the best choice for the future, IMHO.
3rdD Dave Deadly Addiction Un-Natural Selection	Posted - 2008.03.22 22:35:00 - [47] I have to chip in. The xb360 was released a year in advance of the PS3 theres IT BLOODY SHOULD HAVE GOOD GAMES!!! But its turning point wasnt until GEARS was released, nearly 1 year on. The PS3 also one year on, has its killer app ( DRAKE, RACKET/CLANK). Its funny. I did the metrics on it ages ago using metacritic. Using that data and also other sites i was able to compare the first year in games on the 360 to the PS3. Now this is the surprising part. The Ps3 statistically has had a better first year in game reviews that the 360. Why? What i found was, the games during the first year of the 360s lifespan werent scoring the best. Now when the PS3 was released it was getting bad ports from the XB360 ported over, but these ports were actually scoring higher than the games that the 360 had giving a slightly higher mean. There wasnt much in it. The 360 had more games scoring lower, the PS3 had less, scoring slightly higher but end of. The ps3 has had a better 1st year than the 360 and like I said. It was released a year before, it better well damn have better dev`ed games. Also, the console war is far from over. Sony is doing well with its trojan horse console. The only region its not selling as fast as it would like is the US. But believe me this will change. I strongly believe Microsoft has caused a "gilted nation" to coin a phrase. All the games site i goto, im always reading peeps saying how ****ed off they are theyre 360 has failed so many times, and not only that, the drive is scratching games or not recognising discs. Even my sons 360 has refused to play his gears game, he had to get it exchanged, and now recently Call of Duty 4. Infact Google it, youll see huge lists of threads where players cant play said game. All in all. Microsoft has truel shafted its player base. Why buy a defective product at all? Would you spend money on any product if you knew before hand it had a 30% plus chance of failing? Would you spend the cash if you knew it had a 10% of failing? I know I wouldnt. ITs the bloody reason i ended up with a PS3, but I dont regret it, had good fun with it, looking forward to my new 42" LCD to play BluRays. Personally, I dont think MS done themselves any favors this gen. I personally think the fallout will come next gen.

Azirapheal The Bastards	Posted - 2008.03.23 18:22:00 - [60] i dont have a TV beinga poor student :P my pc is everything to me, ive got a sick system built up around which my non working life is based, films, internet, gaming etc is all done on here. althougha few console games have grabbed my attention a little of late, notably assassins creed. but my big beef with many "modern" games is that they just dont have the same playability. my old playstation had tenchu - stealth assassins and its successors, FF7 FF8 FF9, GTA GTA2 RAYMAN, tekken, soulcalibur, tomb raider 1,2,3. to name a few greats, all games with massive amounts of playability. this was replaced by the PC with halflife a game which i can still hapilly waste a weekend playing through. but then i look at the new games. my mate has a 360 - halo3 completed in 6 hours, gears of war completed in 4 hours assassins creed? how long will that take me to complete? im guessing based on trends only a few hours in a hardcore session :( the thing that keeps me hooked to eve is that i still play the same game 3 years later, with different things going on. the things that kept me playing halflife were the mods and the fact that even the base game was EXPANSIVE i must have lost several months of my life to playing the FF games the ghey trend has even hit my favourite halflife series, hl2 - 12 hours of gaming ep 1 4 hours ep2 4 hours meh if this makes any sense to someone, tbh id rather play an old game on my ****ty playstation if it will occupy my time. snazzy graphics != fun

I think I suffer from a little bit of PS3 fanboi-ism, probably because the Xbox 360 came out first and everyone went on and on about it and perhaps I just wanted to be different. I've always always always said though, that despite the cost and the lack of titles for the PS3, that I think it's a better quality piece of hardware, and the fact that it has a Blu-Ray player built in (where as Xboxes require an add-on, right?) combined with the fact that it's actually quite a decent Blue-Ray player, gives it a bit of an edge imo. Which leads me onto the HD-war: I have always always always said that Blu-Ray would win, despite what all my peers think - because PS3s have it build in, you can buy one AS a BluRay player and 'oh look, we can plays games on it too'. All the same games are available for the PC and have higher resolutions, better graphics etc. Plus 360's are louder than my hoover. The only reason to get a PS3 is Gran Turismo 5, and that's not out til next year, so you may as well save yourself a couple of quid and wait. Or get an 8800gt. Or a Snes emulator. [MORTS]

CoD4 has given me hours of fun...while the 360 would have had me paying for the same. How much online action does a 360 owner have to see before the Ps3 was the better investment? That's not counting the fact that the PS3 is one of the best Blue Ray players in the market, and it also enhances your regular DVDs. Nowadays, most titles go to both consoles, but PS3 owners play online for free, forever. And PS3 exclusives (Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid IV...) are more appealing to most people. Not to mention most great 360 stuff is on PC on better graphics, and with modding and the advantages of PC gaming. I've tried my brother's Xbox 360 extensively. I love my PS3 more than ever.
AndrewRyan Imperial Academy	Posted - 2008.03.25 01:02:00 - [67] I own a PS3 and a 360 and a gaming pc, I use the PC the most but I use the 360 a lot more than the PS3 but its annoying when the 360 breaks down, I have had to return it twice now but although its aggravating I cant fault MS customer service as both times I just had to phone the support line and they courier out the packaging with a return address and you just call the courier to arrange a collection time and then they dispatch a new console and the whole process takes maybe 3-4 days. ========================================= A Man chooses, a slave obeys.
