of course .But if you are playing 'there and then', there should be no problem. ( inho)
after-all if you dont notice your cargo hold getting full . for no apparent reason . apart from metal scraps you deserve everything that happens.

Al Thorr
That would be all well if you could jettison a can at any time you wanted. There's a timer that keeps you from doing that more than once every few minutes, so if you're moving around the place salvaging several wrecks at a time, you'll often find yourself with a cargohold full of scrap metal you can't get rid of fast.
you are assuming that you have a small cargo hold where 1 -2 metal scraps wuold fill your hold every 4 mins
... Stand by my arguement - (never had a problem with them)
not really worth much - but hey wtf

If thats the case they should throw in other useless loot of a comedic level. 10m3 units of toliets, garbage, the occasional thing of illegal medical waste....
That would be awesome. Fun to collect.
/signed If I am able to salvage "Shiny Golden Plates" 10m3 from Amarr ships all my combat ships will feature a salvager. Maybe, just maybe will I have enough to camoflage a Minnie ship as Amarr. Golden Phoon :P

One would think even scraps of metal would be slightly more valuable, but no. Metal scraps are the least valuable isk/space thing in eve afaik. Even garbage and soil are worth more per volume.

Simple, jet can your scraps and tow em round with your tractor beam adding to it as you salvage more wrecks. No 2 min timer penalty and no mither, chuck your boosters in there too.

I pretty much do this. But it's a needless annoyance.
I'm fine with metal scraps, except for the fact that they refine into 10 tritanium. If you think that's acceptable by any means you are wrong in the head.

Methinks they should be removed from the game entirely, or use the same volume as normal salvage since they serve no actual purpose whatsoever, and only certain wreck types drop them.
thoughts?

When the COAD alt poster calls someone out, you know the thread is dead.
Seriously, I spent quite a bit of time salvaging in a frigate and never had an issue. Salvaged in Providence and had no problem. I salvage in level 4 missions now and haven't had this problem. I don't know what you guys are salvaging that this is a problem.

Do what I do. Collect them DONT sell them. Wait for CCP to make them useful then cash in for profit... it's bound to happen, much like for those salvage components that see, to be quite useless .

tractor a jet can, dump everything in there as you salvage and loot, leave the scraps when you come back. One jettison is all you need.

Indeed. People who can't be bothered to just jettison the metal scraps they don't want are a new breed of rediculously lazy.
Me? I get to sell the metal scraps at a very nice price so I keep 'em.

Edited by: Merdaneth on 22/03/2008 12:18:39 Any decent manufacturer of salvagers would have adjusted their salvagers months ago not to include metal scraps due to overwhelming consumer demand.
In Eve manufacturers cannot change specs of malfunctioning products, only CCP can do that.

We never promised you a rose garden.
If we dumb down the game too much or remove every little thing that seems to hamper our quick and easy success...all those people that ***** about wow being too easy will turn into hypocrites overnight.
Let's...leave the s craps in and maybe find a use for them or simply let them (slowly) teach players that they're just better off being jettisoned.

Metal scraps have nothing to do with teaching you anything or 'making the game harder'. All they do is force you to jet them constantly, often requiring you to wait for the 3-4 minute timer to pass. That's it. ...

That's a good point. The metal fragments have such a low impact on the total population of the game it's a wonder they're making the forums at all.
Here are some suggestions. I use two of them, personally, and have absolutely no problems.
1. As stated previously. A few times. TB a can to the ass of your ship that you can dump garbage in.
2. TB stuff to one area so you're not drifting too far from your trash can.
Another alternative is to dump all your loot into a jetcan every 15 wrecks or so and go back to scoop it up with a hauler. The smallest of them will easily pick this stuff up and they're pretty cheap.

You know, if you justified it with "It will reduce macro miners"(which, of course, it won't), people might cheer to it. -------------------------------------------------- I'm a rich person. How I know? I can afford to be a miner. |
