The Insurgency story.
First of all plz forgive my shocking spelling and punctuation. Its been a while since I was at school.
It all started in Fountain with celestial apocalypse, we were there fighting xelas and sometimes BOB, the xelas fight was going great and we controlled the middle part of fountain no problem, we even took the xelas outpost in pnqy for a while, which was fun, this was done with the help of ASCN.
Fountain was getting a little boring, as we had no industry, all we done was fight, when this dried up we didnĘt really know what to do, even though fountain is a massivly rich region, I want it back.
Anyways our friends from Outbreak joined us, BOB sent a couple of its corps out to us for fun PVP, who said BOB arnt sporting?. Anyways this was good, with BOB switching the corps. Although the PVP was nice we knew that if we continued this celes apoc would fall behind, everyone was getting these cool Supercaps, BOB had titans camping our station, we wanted these toys, also the tourney was close, and we decided to do that, so we voted on a name, and INSRG was born.
The tourney wasnĘt so good, lots of stress, we thought hey lets try the north again, we had friends in Morsus Mihi and RZR, and maybe we could go up there and carve out a little space. I recruited on EVE-O for corp members and also tried a little for good corps to join the Alliance.
Untill we recruited more corps it was mainly celes apoc, we went up roaming and had some nice fights with phalanx, we thought hmmm, maybe this is what we need, we relocated to HPA, then to avoid 9-2, we went to PF-Q, this was to be our home.
Now its hard to say who joined first as the last 6months have been crazy, but im sure it was corps like starlancers, corp1, muchos love to C4W3, hes been a superb guy to have around for INSRG as have many.
Our figths were becoming fun, more and more ppl wanted to join celes apoc, probably our long history of PVP, some more joined the alliance too, corps like phantom, hobos, etc, before we knew it we had a chance to maybe take space, we eyed the cons of 304, this was a rich region of branch controlled by CPU and GSA, we attacked it with everything we had, this was when NNC was born.
NNC were Rare, GSA, CPU, STEALLA, Phoenix, sometimes phalanx, and to the end ME, some others brought token groups I forget the names.
The struggle for 304 was around AH, this system was the key to the cons, the fight around there were epic to say the least, 100s and 100s of ships destroyed in each attack, This is where INSRG learned how to co-oridinate alliance wise. We stood alone the way we wanted it.
Eventually the fighting ended, CPU struck a deal to keep the outpost in 1ix and in turn moved out of 304, this was the same for GSA.

This was by no means the end, from then on 304 was constantly attacked, INSRG had no time to regroup and months of combat was hurting our wallets, this needed to end, an attack plan was wrote up, this was to be against the 2 of the larger NNC alliances, STELLA and PHAL.
While planning this TRI sent down a number of its corps to base from P-V, 2 jumps from our home, this was purely for PVP and kept the lads on there toes. A number of good fights were had and TRI eventually left.
The weakness to the enemy systems were Z-K, this was a choke point where you must travel through, this was also a great defence too as when our gangs travelled in they would cut us off, the battle for Z-K was planned and we were ready to go.
The very night of the planned siege of Z-K, we had a surprise, Outbreak and evoke jumped in its supercaps and freighters to our home system of PF-Q. Oh superb, were they hired by NNC/, we decided to go ahead with the attacks on Z-K. our entire alliance moved in and sieged, as expected NNC put up a superb fight, they knew lose ZK, lose the war. Up to 400 ppl were in this system at some points and thinking that Outbreak and Evoke were about to jump supercaps on us all the time didnĘt help.
This siege lasted a week, NNC were fought back, INSRG had sov 1, the battle of Z-K was over, at this point A LOT of pressure was put on us by morsus mihi, and to a degree RZR, both were still blue. They allowed NNC to base attacks into our home systems from BKG and LXW, something I never liked, now they were asking for more and more, things we couldnĘt give.
Speed was now the key, we must eliminate STELLA, and take the QCWA outpost, an op was drawn up, and I put my war face on, arghhhhhhhhh.
INSRG field 85 capitals and a massive BS fleet. We jumped in and the sun was blotted.the siege lasted 3 days, no NNC defended QCWA and I was taken by surprise and INSRG was ready for a long fight, we had taken our first outpost, huzzah.
Now the stronger alliances of the north were taking a little more interest in INSRG. Morsus Mihi quite rightly removed us from blue although INSRG and MM didnĘt wish for a pos warfare,, intel was a massive attack against INSRG planned for a Sunday a few weeks back.
This came in the form of a MM cap fleet consisting of 5 Titans and 10 mothership, very impressive MM. alongwith the usually NNC fleet.
A gang was formed and we put our heads together to see if we could take this, we couldnĘt at that time, maybe if we had an organised op, but the 5 doomsdays would have been nasty. That and the lag was horrid..
As the night wore on it became obvious that this was a show of strength and a warning, this did make me wonder if we could complete our objectives. We could hide from the titans or we could just do what INSRG does, and jump in half arsed and just get on with it.

Plans were made for taking the phoenix space, the outposts were the real goal, 2 weeks of planning and logistics went into this, my head was hurting by now.. SUNDAY last week was the day.
INSRG managed to form up with a 300 man gang that day, massive amounts of Caps and supercaps, 100s of tech 2 sniper BS, when Kinsy had to upgrade the vent server to over 300 ppl I knew that the war was over. The siege was done in one night.
PHAL then asked for peace. A fair deal was then given to PHAL to remove assets out of Branch as they had fought us with honor.
Respect to our enemies for making INSRG into a SERIOUS fighting force that grows each day.
To the guys who said I would hold celes apoc back by not adapting, your rite, but that made us work harder for INSRG.
Iv missed so much out I imagine, and ppl can fill in the holes, 6 months on constant PVP, constant fleet fights, constant fun, late nights, early mornings.
Yes I am the leader of INSRG, but was merely a face, and a contact. the real work and respect goes out to all the PVPers here who put RL on hold.. Welsh, Butter, saltire, dacovale, C4W3, fedain, ewokpoacher, karazack, oh my so many amazing ppl, ermm shariona for keeping me straight. Kinsy for amazing logistics, cenila, JUGGER. Jimmysav for being at EVERY pos siege, ur the man. All the commanders of INSRG for planning and organisation Cuisinart for the amazing forums Agmar for giving us the supercaps. Iceinferno for being a superb diplomat, franky for being the hauling king. I could go on and on tbh.
I hope you enjoyed the read.

well mr solo, you are a man of honor and from our side much respect to what you have achieved.
we have lost branch and lost our home, we tryed to bring it EVERY time and i guess we did :)
Phoenix Allainz is going to regroup in empire, not sure what the future will bring for us, but most likely we will disband - too many corps left allready several weeks ago. They just couldnt counter the force that was put on them.
For the write up - i con confirm all the happenings and yes it isnt complete - by far not, but the milestones are correct and tbh you cant do a complete writeup for 6 months of insanity. --

the last 6 months in Eve are the most fun I've had in any mmo ever.
The feeling of satisfaction last night and sadness seeing our friends Phal surrender was amazing. I was surprised at just how gutted I was that it was over.
I learnt my pvping with UKC in tenerifis and then in fountain/branch with Fatal. I know what it's like to lose these stations and I'm pretty sure we're going to have to be on our toes to keep hold of them
Much <3 Insrg I suspect our challenges are just begining. :)

I'm going to get my arse kicked for posting here, but I'm going to anyway.
Great write-up darth, sounds like the whole things has been a blast (if at times stressful). We have always been on opposide sides of the fence, even when I was an ebil pie-rat and you were a noble crusader for peace and justice, but you have always been my nemesis of choice.
Funny to see how much Celes has changed over the years, both in membership and aims, but it still 'feels' like the same old corp. That is an impressive thing to have managed, and you deserve to be proud of that.
And Insurgency. Who would have thought that an alliance tourney :fake corp: could have become something so solid? Good stuff.
I know how many people used to joke about Celes being stuck in 2004 (and I guess for some those jokes were based in a bit of jealousy, especially by those involved in POS warfare), but you guys really are bang up to date - for better or worse.
I hope that Eve remains fun for you, your corp, and your alliance, you deserve it.

Too many chicken's in your roost. Lets see in 8months to a year's time, seen this Celes cycle over and over each time. Leadership will either go afk or you'll get hit hard by some random alliance and you'll be so soft your bandwagon corps will run off and it will be lil ol celes again. Good to see you carve out some space though.

Heh, you really don't know the INSRG I do
There is a core of very capabable and very determined corps who drive the alliance forward.
Its been said many times but INSRG for the past 6 months has been eve on hard mode. Any corp who has stuck through it against all odds isn't to be taken lightly

the thing i've learned to love about INSRG is the fact that it doesnt feel so much like an alliance, but more like one big corp. If a corp we to leave/be kick then those people who are actually regularly actve would rather join any INSRG corp just to stay in the alliance.
we are one big happy family.
thanks a lot to CPU, GSA, Stella, PHAL, Rare, ME, sometimes Phalanx and all others that were involved, I had an absolute ****load of fun right from the start of the assault on j7 right up to this week.
also, well done to all those people mentioned, and especially darth who has done a great job organising and keeping people in line, as well as all those in the background, who don't need naming coz they know who they are.

hi Buzee
I dont think ive meet you ingame yet, or behabs ur a alt of some1 we know well.
Ive been in CELES since nearly day 1 and have been a part of the ups and downs of our little old corp. And behabs ur right, behabs we will get hit a downtime in the near furture, we allways have in the past. CELES pilots have the attention span of a butterfly og atlest we used to.
You see theres a difference from the days of old and the present. CELES isent the main engine in INSRG. Its the collectve will of all the corp leaders. If CELES were to shutdowm and Darth were to go play the pipes in the highlands instead. Some1 else would take over. And same with the CELES members, alot of the crew now, isent in it for the sake of the old boy network, like before. The corp has changed into a part of a alliance, it does not matter what ur corp ticker say, its the ally one that counts.
So CELES is stone dead from my viewpoint. its is something that in many ways are abit sad for me.
But as long as the lads and ladies have fun, its all good.

Very good tactical overview, and a balanced analysis on what happened outa there. Even your enemies agree to your general layout of warefare.
To bad, that there's always a disbanding of the opponent, who seems had the balls for bringing it, as well as pide and honour. But thats the way war goes.

Great write-up darth, sounds like the whole things has been a blast (if at times stressful). We have always been on opposite sides of the fence, even when I was an ebil pie-rat and you were a noble crusader for peace and justice, but you have always been my nemesis of choice.
I hope i won't miss our constant smacking, chestbeating and all the childish stuff that went on as much as i miss the cruise missile kestrel . Perhaps not everything that is old is also good.
Now seriously, this is a disturbingly nice comment. BoB leadership, please be gentle with Avon's arse, i'm sure he was just trying to inflict a wrecking strike for internal problems on us

after 1 year fighting (me and my corp) for the north it's now time to say goodbye
the last six month against INSRG were full of fights, fun and hard work. the major point in this war was the attack from Destiny/ATF against Rare Faction and the attack of INSRG against Stella Polar systems at the same time.. that was to much and break the NNC.
i would like to thank all pilots from both sides for bringing the fights, daco and welsh for objetiv reports and Lilan for the hours of local chat

Congrats to Insurgency for fighting some nice campaigns and winning some very good space.
Very nice write up, darth. It's more or less an accurate story of what occurred. I think you leave out a few key points and mischaracterize a little bit (specifically with regard to RAWR's involvment), but I think that can be excused because none of that should take away from what Insurgency has accomplished.
Where you may have benefitted from certain parties specifically letting you determine your own course (out of friendship and respect for CELES, whether it was in their best interest or not), you have certainly grown into a respectable power in your own right and I don't think anyone can or should argue you guys don't belong where you are. In my view, you guys definitely earned that space. Things broke right for you and you did the work with the necessary dedication and skill. Well done.
The north will be a far more interesting place this year with you guys holding a nice chunk of Branch.
Once again, congrats guys.

I haveto say, Insurgency has suprised me quite a bit.
When I first noticed you on the map I thought to myself "ah, another nobody alliance unable to hold its own against anything renting space".
But as time went on, I noticed some good people were joining, I then noticed good friends of mine whom I had considered good pvp'ers were already members.
As I looked into it a bit more I notice that you're actually getting to be one of the better alliances out there.
From what I read here it sounds like you've become a very fine alliance indeed.
Now, I can't say that i'm looking for a new corporation, but if I was there are only two alliances in eve i'd consider joining, and yours would be one of them.
Keep up the good work. ------ I speak on behalf of my corporation PS. You suck |

There were some nice fights. We were not in there really over the constellation fight with GSA and CPU. Omg incredible how you owned them
However after you invaded us we didn't have much choice.(few Insurgency towers were in our system) Amazed were we that we repelled you from our space. And even won several battles. The interests we had as branch-line diverted somewhat. So you had time to recover. But it was something you did. And you came back stronger and stronger. And....more strong. Great fights we had.

From SPLR side I may say what we have much fun to. More than you, i'm think - we have fights in Branch before you, and almoust without pauses. I realy glad to see what you say about hard batles and much fun from fight with us - it's realy honor for SPLR who have 2/3 less than 1 year old pilots from our number (you have many jokes about drakes, yeah?). So - now we loose this combat, loose our territories and some corps, but we have very big ammounts of expirience, and I hope price what you pay for this not so small ). Also realy sadly what our coalition, what you named NNC, not have 80+ capital flit to give you more fun It may be more epic for all of us. SPLR not disbanded now, and i hope tipe "gf" to you many times in future. Do not foget about our drakes, they may return ) And at least - thanks for fun again, and I hope my English not so bad and all what I wrote before are readable )

Good to see you carve out some space though.
Oh dear, there's always one isn't there
I've been around a long time as many of you know and having been in several "Major" Alliances, I can tell you they all lacked the one thing that makes INSRG great - each Corporation's Leader and by proxy, each Corporation's general membership has a sheer will and determination to succeed. There will undoubtedly be rough times ahead, it's the nature of Eve but you won't see a single corporation leave due to those reasons. Indeed, it's the difficult times that encourages us all to succeed. So continue with your unfounded criticims, it simply makes us work that much harder to prove them wrong.
Great write up Darth, and to PHAL et al, thanks for the great fight. You gave it your all which is more than can be said for some former Alliances I've been in. I wish you success and fun in the future of Eve

I'll never forget the night in J7 that we had like a 20 man carrier gang with maybe a 50 man support watching a 100 man camp in AH-. NNC had about 10-12 caps in JTAU shooting a small pos that our carrier gang was itching to go take a pot shot at, so darth brought me into a private convo and said, 'We're gonna jump the caps in on theirs. Your job is to jump the support into them and bring a fight while we deal with them.' What we failed to know was there was about 100+ more NNC coming down the pipe that came in right behind us as we jumped in to engage.
We caught and destroyed 2 carriers in JTAU but threw atleast 30 ships against the wall just to distract the larger fleet from coming to save 'em or attack our carriers.
Good times though, just shows how suicidal we are I guess.

Well, what can I say, CELES. Congratulations on finally doing what every other functional and successful alliance does in the game to stay operational and competitive in 0.0. ItĘs what you do in the next six months thatĘs going to define your success, but so far so good.
As much as some of you will never admit, you are becoming more like BoB/DICE/ATUK every day and I mean that as a compliment. How does that feel?

Respect was never a problem between us Metal, your accomplishments are undisputed. If you mean that we'll become like you in terms of being a succesfull war machine, maybe, there are alot of great alliances out there tho . If you mean that we'll use any means possible to win, like start shooting blues, use spies to offline poses, or sabotage ppls voice comms, sabotage supercaps, NEVER and we have NRDS in lowsec.
We've never had a problem with what old BoB did, but the way they did it and can you blame us? No, we were shooting pirates and helped weaker ppl. However, i must say right now BoB seems compleetly different from what once was, so yes it will be good to become like you as you are NOW

Edited by: DigitalCommunist on 22/03/2008 04:29:53 The only thing going through my head right now, is whether or not this experience has made you understand the Fountain campaign better.
Your alliance got mocked and derided by groups (not just talking BoB here) for what was mostly interpreted as fear of change. You didn't want to adapt to the whole POS/industry/capitals route EVE took, and held onto outdated ideas.
I think you held back your corp just because you didn't think you could handle the level of organization and commitment it takes, and you believed all the logistics would make your hardcore pvpers softer. Obviously you now realize that is not true, and that bigger+slower fights can be as engaging, skillful and hardcore as smaller ones.
Basically, I don't think you had a lot of faith in yourself, or the people around you to accomplish something this large scale.
That said, I am actually glad you can't be written off just yet. The game is better with more war-minded groups, because it pushes the existing ones harder.
But like most people here said, once the newbie enthusiasm wears off and you start stagnating with goals and fun, it will be interesting how you react. Celes in the past has usually curled into a ball and hibernated through the worst times. I don't want to spook you, but I hope you realize the challenge has only begun. _______________________________ http://epicwords.net/ |

Great story Mad Jock. Being an ex member (soon to return) who was in Celes back in the days of killing ATUK I can vouch for the fact that the Corp has come a long way.
Having said that, its not all about Celes as Darth points out. It seems that like minded Corps has joined the Alliance as they all have the same goals as Celes, having fun!!!
A great job has been done by all members it would seem. Cant wait to join back up.
Brings a tear to my eye :)

We had plenty of faith in ourselves which we simply channeled into fighting.
We treated Eve as a PVP game and decided thats what we wanted...total PVP. Log on, shoot things, log off. That suited the entire corp, and we recruited and moulded around this ideal. We saw POS as a distraction, a waste of our time when we could be shooting things. We only formed Insurgency to take part in the alliance tournament to start with.
When Eve got to the point where 20 men in short range BS struggled to get fights at all, we hibernated, discussed, considered, and went for it.
Today, CELES could go into hibernation, but Insurgency would carry on with or without us. We've been at this properly for 6 months as a collective, but there's too much experience and wisdom within the ranks of Insurgency to ever let it stagnate.
Plim: I was driven to absolute idiocy by CCP Plim: Screw you Kinsy, I was already an idiot before i started playing eve. |
