Nathan,
IF you decide to help people do missions then do what has already been suggested - dont use your nice expensive ship.
Also perhaps offer alternatives, perhaps a logistics ship. If they decline then it could well be an indication of what they are really after. And above all, make sure YOU create the gang, atleast you can control who is invited....
Finally....to avoid being ganked as you undock by suicide gangs use the 'Airwolf' tactic....and if you dont get the connection evemail me and I will explain :)

He just painted a target on himself with his silly thread. This is true.

Just so you know dude, around 3-4 ganks happen a day in Irjunen alone minimum, at thats just the ones at gates and station, so who knows how many get ganked mid mission. You only need 4-6 overheated Ravens to gank virtually any mission runner fit at a gate/station, and a aferburner condor to bump people to stop them escaping who are mid mission (you can gank with 2 ravens if the guy is tanking a full spawm)
If you want to warn others, better take a warning yourself and sell off all faction/officer/deadspace gear you got while you still get good money for them. Start running in setups that are likely to drop less than 200-300mil in loot can.
QFT.
Theres only 2 missions that cannot be done w/ a T2 XL Booster (enemies abound 5/5, AE4 Bonus room). Train t2 cruise missiles and you get a good ROF for cheap.
About the only thing worth getting faction would be the CN BCUs. And those not worth a suicide on.
5/5 and aelvl4 bonus can be done in a t2 raven solo as well, requires skills though. But Crystal implants + damage/rof implants make even 5/5 look easy. 5/5 got nerfed several times so it is no longer as hard as what it used to be. (the original 5/5 took us around 6 ships to complete, this was back in the days that you would get poped in 2 volleys by the 30 bs spawn) --

Originally by: suzie stormbringer Irjunen is only 0.5 Motsu isnt far away you would be alot safer if you missioned in higher security Motsu. Concord reaction times much quicker
Not necessarily, i fell for this "scam" after running several checks first, first checked the player for basic info yup npc corp and good standing with factions and security status so no war decs. 2nd pulled up info from eve-survival about the mentioned mission(in this case was worlds collide lvl4) and asked few specific Qs. Thinking if worst happens and being nice went along only to be met by a solo orange player who was unfleeted and i remained fleeted at all times so i knew. The ensuing battle then lasted 19mins without concord showing up after what should of been an illegal attack and the person i was fleeted with nevr engaged me once, this all took place in a 0.9 system. Dont rely on concord unless outside a station or stargate. |

"Post with an alt."

except it takes what 7 seconds to scan someone? 2 sec to lock 5 to scan? oh wait, its a 2 sec scan time
so basically he just saved someone a few seconds. except that someone already knew he has a nice fit. posting with an alt wouldn't have done much about anything

If the opening poster moved to Motsu it wouldnt stop pirate SCUM and general low lifes from trying to trick him into helping another player. With 400 people in Motsu its like being a pigeon in a flock of them. (dont help anyone its a trap) |

IDK why people even think of joining fleet with some random guy these days. Just let him give you a bookmark of the mission and go help without fleet .. if he can't be arsed to go to that little amount of trouble to get help or whines about wrecks/bounties he doesn't deserve any. This eliminates any half-assed war dec shenanigans which IMO don't really deserve to get ganks anyway (too little effort aside from finding someone stupid).
And yes, this would still raise chances of being ganked if you're flying around in a juicy target because you'd just have to sit those suicide torp ravens at said BM instead of waiting at some gate, but if you're flying a setup that's worth it you should know not to fly it in hubs / be always paranoid anyway.

Joining fleets is OLD HAT. Most players dont fall for that rubbish anymore. What people do nowadays is to hell with gang invite and bring on a suicide gank squad of hald a dozen torp ravens gank fitted that can gank even estamel fitted CNR's supertanked faster than concord arrives to help. heck these guys kill you on a gate before you even align to warp out! No tank can sustain the pvp punishment from gank overheated half a dozen torp raven setups.

a system is only as safe as u make it, if u see a baiter avoid em simple, i bin in irjunen now in a faction fitted nighthawk for over 2 months and nobody bothers me even tho i have bin scanned multiple times leaving the station.
follow 3 simple rules and ur fine:
1 nubbin pm's u baiting... just close it
2 only gang with people u know and trust
3 this is the most important one.... use common sense if ur gonna fall for baiting ur about as clever as a fish and deserve to be caught and flogged like a gibbon on a steroid bender!

No no - you dont get it anymore. Lofty tactics are old hat now. The baiters dont need to gang you anymore, they can get you at gate or mid mission with 7 gank ships and kill you before concord comes.
If you have any billion stuff, you WILL die eventually to a gank squad who "DO NOT NEED GANG".

If you ask me this sucide thing has been blown out of all proportion. Never have i seen a sucide gank. Its just one or two to scare the carebears. They wouldnt have the bottle to try and take rattlesnake with 80k plus hitpoints on shields in 0.9-1.0 sec space.
