Ok, i know all the things that are going on around the gallente recons atm (there pretty much useless), but if you had to take on in combat (small gang warfare), wich one would you take? Lachesis because of the extra mid or the extra damage? Arazu because of the cloak or the extra lowslot?
Just able to fly the gallente recons, i know there sub-par at the best, but i want to try them nevertheless. Just want to hear your opinion on wich of the gallente recon ships you think is best, and if you dont mind, stick a setup for the one of your choice in as well
Thanks! ***Sig***

just my 2isk, but unless you NEED the cov ops cloak, the lachesis is a cheaper, higher dps, slightly more versitile ship in terms of small gang. you can do slightly more dps, but with an extra mid you can speed fit it with an injector or cap battery, and speed fit it easier to be cap stable. can toss any number of extra things in the extra mid to help if you don't care much for a cap stable speed fit, another damp, an ecm, eccm, sensor booster.. the list goes on and on. fittigns are really a matter of preferance, and the type of gang.

If I had to, I'd take either a shield tanked Lach or a TD fitted Arazu.

Thanks for the replies so far.
Mind to share a setup on the lach? I was thinking about a shield tanked/nano setup on the lach, but with only 3 lowslots and 2 rigslots i really wonder if that is going to be viable at all... ***Sig***

Well, I've been ganked by an Arazu a few times. It did fairly well against me but that's not a surprise. No experience with or against the Lachesis. ------------------------------------------------- Mac Graphics Performance Guide <3 my Drones |

T2 Blaster Arazu with sensor damps + Scan Res Scripts and 3x medium and 2x light ecm drones. Thats what I use...and the couple of engagements I've had with it went ok. It takes target a nice long time to lock you, and by then its probably ecm'ed, and when it regains ability to lock the damps stop it from locking soon and hopefully its ecm'ed again by then...

Yeah, you'll need a web in a situation like that. When fitting for damps, you'd be stupid to fit a web.
Fortunately, you'd be misguided (at best) to fit damps to an Arazu in the first place.

Bump! Need some loadouts on both ships, how would YOU fly them after the RSD nerf? ***Sig***

Don't get drawn into that 'they're useless' thing. It's not true. They're not as amazingly overpowered as they were, but they're still very credible threats if flown by somone who bothers to think how to fly them.
Arazu and Lachesis are different tools for different jobs. Personally I think being able to covops cloak is amazingly awesome, so would take teh Arazu every time. The Lachesis though does have a fairly notable amount of punch to it, and it's often underrated. Works quite nicely supporting a roaming gang - although I would probably still take the Arazu, because a cloaked scout is also useful - provided you at least have _someone_ bringing 'DPS'. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

Yeah, as far as my arazu setup concerns, how about this for verry small gangs:
High 1x Covops cloak 3x 250mm Rail II (not sure if this fits with recon 4, training that atm)
Medium 3x Phased Muon RSD (scripts to taste) 1x Warp Disruptor II 1x 10mn Microwarpdrive II 1x Medium Electrochem (400's)
Low 2x Nanofiber II 2x Overdrive II
Rigs 1x Poly 1x RSD strength rig
Drones 3x Hammer II 2x Warrior II
It is paperthin but i guess you can shut down at least 1 battleship. This ship will be mostly used in combination with a rapier and a falcon ( ), so the nano part is mostly about getting out when needed. How does this sound? ***Sig***

Nano is king in the current gaming environment. If you can set up to take full advantage of your dampening amount, e.g. aim to be fighting at 45km - your RSD optimal - then you'll do well. And nanofitting allows you to do this quite well too.
Alternatively, you might wish to consider combining ECM drones with locking time damps. It does cost you a lot of your damage output, but ... well, give it a whirl on the test server. I think you'll be impressed at how effective it is.
But either way, a cruiser tank isn't much of a tank in the best of situations, so maintaining mobility advantage, especially when using a module that's countered by 'mobility' such as the damp, is a good thing. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |
