I asked this in the windows technical help section but I'm not getting any responses over there since yesterday. So I was hopeing someone here could answer this...
I have a 19" LCD, and will soon be getting a 2nd one. I've been dreaming of playing EVE on dual monitors so that I can play both my characters side by side. However, I was wondering, for most of the time I will only be on one account at a time, is it possible to play EVE in a resolution that will take up the entire 2 monitors?

A triple monitor would 'fix' the problem of screen edges in the centre, but it would require quite an investment

Just get 2 accounts Imax =p. Play in windowed mode for both and there you go.

Thats what I'm currently doing ol' buddy. But it would be nice to be able to play side by side, rather then minimize to minimize. Plus I'm getting this monitor for free. Its a hand me down ^_^ so I'm just buying a new monitor just to play EVE twice

Do a google search for a program called EvE Launcher. It will automatticlly set it up so both accounts play in windowed and one to each screen.

Good luck with that.
I wanted to do the same thing ... went out and bought some extra monitors ... and ... EVE runs so badly in windowed mode on my system it is unusable ....
So ... after all that ... I'm back to alt tabbing between accounts ...

To increase frame rate on multiple monitors:
- Set your video to "Horizontal Span" mode. It's different to having 2 separate screens configured on your video card, and for some reason runs faster
- Turn off sun occlusion
- Turn off depth buffer
- Turn off effects
- Run EvE-Classic instead of EvE Premium

I run 2 client on dual screens all the time without a glitch, no need to switch to horizontal span or anything like that.
One thing you do need to do if you don't go with horizontal span is to setup the second client to be accelerated on the second screen. Open the ingame options, Display and Graphics Tab. Then click on the Display Adapter drop down. It should have 2 listings of your graphics card that look exactly the same. For example on my screen it says: NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT
The top one is your primary screen and the other one is your secondary screen. For the second client choose the second one and then drag the client over to the second monitor (or use EVE Launcher as suggested above to automatically move it for you).
As long as the game window is on the "wrong" screen (the one you didn't select) it will get software rendered instead of hardware which means MUCH worse performance. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

Well, I didn't have a chance to try your suggestion as I've already fixed it by figuring out how to set it to horizontal span (finally) But in response, I was only running 1 client and it was bad, no matter which window I was useing. But like I said, I didn't have a chance to try it out.
for future reference to anyone else with my same problem, if your unsure what "Horizontal span" is, basicly its more then just a 2nd monitor, its essentially making both monitors act like they are 1. The easiest way to tell the difference is if your background wallpaper and/or your windows task bar are NOT spread across both monitors then you DONT have it set to horizontal span.
Hope that helps anyone. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. |
