Ship Rewiring Rigs would allow a player to drop one ship bonus and replace it with another one (with penalties).
For example, you want a blaster fit Punisher, so you add a rig that removes the 10% small energy turret capacitor use bonus and replaces it with a +4% small hybrid turret damage bonus.
The rigs would have to be specific for every ship and their ship bonuses to avoid issues with removing ship bonuses the ship doesn't have and adding additional bonuses to the existing ones. any one ship can only fit one such rig at any time.
Granted, this could be a little complicated and would require lots of BPOs, though this could be reduced by only allowing one of the two T1 ship bonuses to be changeable and having only limited choices to what the ship bonus could be changed.
Ship Rewiring Rigs would allow the player to further personalize their ships without upsetting the overall balance too much.

Not a bad idea. Who cares what ships you fly, not everything in Eve should be about role playing. If you can build a space ships ship you sure as hell can make it fire any gun if you really wonted to.

its not about 'role playing' more as its more like the whole backstory to eve. countless times have proven that a ship fit outside its 'norm' will die. horribly, and will usually result in OMGWTF i died!!!11!! threads on here. usually the victim will go on and on about how <insert ship type> here is overpowered because the medium lasers they put on their armor tanked raven should DESTROY anything because it has lasers, and lasers go pewpew. The only thing you got right is that comedy fits by idiots without a clue fail miserably. What you fail to recognize is that ship rewiring is not for comedy fits, it's for changing the options to fit a ship. Take your raven for example: Instead of having the 10% Cruise and Torpedo speed bonus it'll get a 6% shield boost amount bonus. Is that still comedy fit? Or maybe a 4% cruise and torpedo damage per level.
Ship Rewiring is about adding diversity, not creating gimped ships. -------- Ideas for: Mining Clouds

So basically you want a rig that would allow anyone to turn anything into anything he wanted?
You're asking for the improbability drive. It's hilarious, but too impractical and exploitable to implement.

No, I was proposing the idea of having a rig that can be used one at a time on a ship to change a single specific ship bonus into another ship bonus, with some penalty, that is chosen out of a set of certain defined and restricted possibilities.

i believe what you are referring to is commonly known as, in the eve universe, as Boosters. check them out, they help your ship do what you want, be it tank (blue pill's), go really fast (x-instinct), armor rep (exile), and all sorts of things and goodies! Rigs themselves weren't really a good idea. Neither was heat. If this gets implemented someone will exploit it to make an unbreakable tank and someone else will start complaining on the forums and it will get nerfed and be useless.
Aside from that, Amarr ships were designed for lasers. Get a blaster boat... _________________________________________ A bad analogy is like a leaky screwdriver |
