Sure. I'm only 4 months old, I can hack it. Infact I'd love to start on a level playing field.
However considering the flood of tears and /iquit that would come from the 4+ year players, I really cant see this one happening.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 03/04/2008 19:30:04 Truth be told, DJ, the server has been reset before. I alone survived the event, and I've been waiting for someone bold enough to make the inquiry into this matter that you have chosen to do. If you do not hear from me again my blood will be on CCP's hands. Know this, and take heed.

Forget resetting this server... they need to make ANOTHER ONE and link it to this one. Let the new universe/server only allow players with 50+ skillpoints. You jump to the new server via a bridge on the old server, and you start there fresh with an empty wallet and a rookie ship.

Edited by: Hannobaal on 03/04/2008 19:41:38 There'd be a lot of economic opportunities for smart players early on before the econmy builds up and stabilizes, so sure. I'd play.
But there's really no good reason to do this when you look at the good of the game in general.
And no you wouldn't really be on a level playing field with a lot of those older players even if you had the same character sp.

Yes, I would train Anchoring and join the Great Moon Rush that would characterise the first two years of gameplay.

Happily.
It wouldn't change the balance of anything though; player knowledge and skills are more important in "succeeding" than character's SPs....

Sure, I'd go for a reset, it's my corpmates who keep me playing, not what ships I can fly.
I can imagine a few folks would be pretty annoyed though, after what they have fought for evaporates into nothing.

The whole premise behind EVE is that the things you do somehow matter in some way, they 'happened' and were part of history, helping to shape the EVE universe in the future.
A server reset would erase all that. ...

It simply will not happen, sorry. Since it will not happen, it is waste of energy to consider it. Since it is a waste of energy to consider it in the first place, then there is no reason for me to make the decision regarding playing or not playing, if the server is reset.

Actually, I would LOVE it if the servers were reset. It would mean that every 0.0 alliance would have to re-colonise all their systems, meaning that there would be a lot more fighting as all the previously entrenched alliances would be equal to other alliances. Think of the campaigns, think of the instability, think of the fun.

It would at least fix the damage done by the T2 lottery.
But they'd have to fix the finite moon resource problem, the scarcity of high quality agents, and the UI before I'd bother coming back. - Support fixing the UI|Suggest Jita fixes|Compact logs |

But... only if they were reset to the exact same EVE as was launched originally.

I disagree. That history, we lived it. That we did matters more than any physical traces we could hope to leave behind. No-one truly shapes the indefinite future, the only thing we shape with any certainty is the past.
And if the server were to be reset, we would see that the environment shapes responses. There would be more than a few echoes, especially if enough of the old timers gave it another spin.
