I can watch this over and over again
Have you seen the second one? That's actually a better movie, just more cheaply done.
To understand Starship Troopers as it is presented, you need to remember that it was made by the same guy who did Robo Cop and Total Recall.
If you go in understanding that it's a Paul Verhoeven movie - with all that entails it's not that bad.
For me, a movie doesn't have to be really good for me to enjoy it, although if it isn't good the replay value varies.
I saw all the Iron Eagle movies. Those are simply horrible movies - but they had lots of airplanes in them - and that's why I went. When the first one came out - the F-16 was a fairly new aircraft and I'd not seen a lot of footage of it. What was funny, was that right at the beginning of the second movie - the kid from the first movie gets killed - and everyone in the theater cheered! Ha! Ha! Still, with my having seen a good bit more air plane footage since then they're a little to painful to watch now.
Like Top Gun. Can't watch that movie any more - but - I can just watch the airplane parts and fast forward through the rest.
There's just tons of terrible Sci Fi out there yet - it's got space ships and such - so I tolerate it a lot of it.
Kathy Ireland was in a number of terrible movies - yet I'd watch them again just to see her. Alien From L.A. was simply awful ... but Kathy was really young and cute. Yet - I couldn't stand to watch Melrose Place when she was on it. I tried and ... just couldn't do it.
For me the things that will get me to watch a bad movie are:
1) A cute chick. 2) Hardware - airplanes, tanks, guns, ships
(I watched Under Siege any number of times as it had both the above).
3) Cool Special Effects.
Here is where movies like Starship Troopers really shine. The Space Ships getting blown up and coming apart were really well done. Verhoeven said that he remembered the British Bombers getting shot down at night over Holland when he was a child and that was the effect he was after. (Of course, there's also Dina Myer topless and Denise Richards - so Cool Special Effects + Cute Chicks counts for a lot.).
Here is where I really loved the last 3 (Episode I - III) Star Wars movies. Lucas had the money to do things just the way he wanted and I thought all the scenes of all those flying cars were really cool. Yes even cool enough to over shadow young Skywalker's antics. I've always been a sucker for massed action, except in ancients movies where it's usually nothing but two mobs of guys running at each other.

I agree with the guy above me. If you view it as a Verhoeven(?) movie rather than a Heinlein movie, it's much better. The way Verhoeven does it is really good in his own way. It's not really an adaptation of the novel so much as inspired by parts of it which he used to poke fun at a fascist society and show the horrors of war. He wasn't trying to be faithful to Heinlein, so I don't hold that against him.
The second one was total crap except for the end, which was so ironically fun that it almost could have saved it.

Originally by: DubanFP Have you ever seen Batman The movie. Not like one of the more recent ones. We're talking about the original 70s children's flick. Oh man is it HORRIBLE!!! The thing is it's hilariously horrible. I've yet to make it through to the ending though.

I absolutely love that movie and proudly declare it as superior to any other appearances of Batman, anywhere, ever.
The accompanying TV series is better, though. Lower budget ==> moar funny. __________________________________

OMG, I thought I was the only one who had seen them. They're super awesome hilarious. There's just something about watching someone speak Spanish in a martial arts movie that's funny.

Demolition Man. Just too stupid, but fun, plus Sandra Bullock.
For a series I like Dark Shadows. Low budget and no money for retakes. Had to get it done in one baby.

Disagree, good movie, but hey...to each his own.
DM showed the future of political correctness run amok. Great message, and the movie itself was just, as you put it, fun.

They are like the exact opposite of the english dubbed ones. For those that dont know.
English dubbed, mouth continue to move after talking has stopped. Spanish dubbed, talking continues for up to 30 secs after mouth has stopped moving.

QFT Kusha'an.
Also, that movie had some great quotes too.
