It needs to be introduced on a micro level with megacorporations waging war against eachother and corporations and alliances siding with these or else it will fail big time and the game with it.
No blanket 4 faction all out war or this just might as well be elves and gnomes in space.

they are going to add more. more = factional warfare.
I'm sure it will be well thought out. Alot of changes and tie-ins need to be addressed such as systems security and new PvE/PvP gameplay choices along with the new potential moneymaking opportunities

When the devs say shelf life of 50 years or more... they do realize that at least 1 alliance will have enough titans to multi DD and kill a capital fleet by the end of next year if not by the end of this one right?

Amarr players take a mission to kill a Gallente Freightor. Gallente get a mission to defent the freightor. Gates control shiptypes going in, and NPC's spawn on both sides to balance it out. Its on demand 24/7 pvp with NPC's enhancing the pvp.

That's why they are adding ambulation - because in 50 years you will be able to walk from one system to another on the tops of titans there will be so many.

I would prefer to see NPC corps at war, and Player corps allowed to choose allegiance for the corp as a whole.

 Devs will add something than probably uber -super new ship cost 4000b-5000b 1 shoot titans probably named zeus or something like it ,j/k aside DD capital fleet may not be next year but in 2-3 years who knows

out of interest why? I do understand of course that proper PvP can only be conducted by hardened band of 0.0 dwellers. However as someone who runs a startup & has small children I have enough complexity and time sinks in my life. The idea of PvP in a controlled environment - where it is not just me having the cr*p beaten out of me because I am not in the right place or haven't got the right friends - sounds great. I get to play against other people (lets face it NPC's are not great) and experience some interesting challenges without giving half my life up.

While I am not questioning your pessimism, with very good reason, they are a) already at least a year late from what I can tell and b) starting to talk about it as if it where something that might actually happen. They must have a reason for this*. So there is a possibility it might be this june.
*I also accept that this reason may be unfounded optimism
