Love the way words "discuss" and "discussion" are mutilated over and over when stuff like this happens. So we're all discussing now right?

Even though the update arrived during my last post, my comments still stand as far as I'm concerned.

Originally by: CCP Valar I'm very sorry about the delay in startup. During todays downtime we were performing database maintenance aimed at increasing performance of the database. The maintenance took a bit longer then expected, but I started the cluster at ~12:00.
After the server was up it became apparent that something was not right. No player connections were being accepted. The database maintenance did probably not cause the issues, but we are still trying to find out what happened. It is starting to look more like a network load balancer issue.
Again, I am truly sorry for the inconvenience and hope that we can restore service soon.
Thankyou. And very deferential.

So you're saying that much like the code for billboards you have NO idea how the database works.
Congratulations CCP, you are the worst MMO company in the world.

Well in all seriousness an extra hour of DT is a big deal for me.. I play from AUSSIE time zone and it bad enough enduring the regular DT let alone an extra hour of impromptu serviceing during our prime time gaming time. Regular DT runs between 9-10pm here.. todays extra hour makes that 9-11pm.. so for all it matters to me the extra hour has in effect eliminated a day.. Have noticed of late there have been many sloppy exits from DT period by CCP where they frequently fail to resume service promptly at the promised time. I know it seems minor on a day to day basis but its a real inconveniance.. I love the game but hate the company that makes it.. Some form of compensation would be nice. Perhaps an additional 15 days free for the inability of their team to deliver the service we all pay for... Might be a start given the level of disruption in the game for hot fixes, database updates, dud patching, general grief and the ongoing lameness associated with lag.
Griefing is a violation of the EULA... CCP has caused me endless grief.. should i petition this?

Originally by: Zansatsja Always...extended...extended...but we never see a message like...well peeps you pay for the game but again you cant use what you payed for so here to all eveplayer 1 extra *** from CCP to your subscription.
Do you want to pay more when DT is less then an hour, which happens most of the times?
We pay a fee, it includes downtime of 30 hours a month on average (or whatever...) if they want do spend less than an hour then awesome, go for it! Don't charge us for the extra time playing? Even better and it's their choice! But don't take away people's paid playing time without giving them sufficient warning to plan other stuff etc. I personally don't mind waiting, but I speak for myself only.
They owe people that much, give them advanced warning (at worst, during the regular downtime period) but don't notify them after scheduled maintenance has finished without and ETA or even a "we don't know yet". Disgraceful. Some people set aside certain hours to play, not fair, no matter how you look at it.
It's all about communication, which they are pathetic at.
I agrre with you... at least so far that I would appreciate more communication between CCP and the players (At least a "status notice" on the eve-online.com main page so you can see the current server status and a short note to find out if something is wrong with the server without having to search the forums for the appropriate topic. On the other hand CCP can't possibly predict every malfunction, error or other issue that could occur. Are they supposed to write a news letter every day that goes along the lines of "There is a chance of 1 to 50023457383209871 against that the Downtime today has to be extended due to a power shortage in the southeast of brazil"..
btw, the server is up and running again so have a nice day and fly safe Lax

MY SKILLS FINISHED AT 13:45 AND NOW I CAN'T GET ON THE SERVER TO CHANGE IT WTF CCP I HATE YOU ALL I DEMANd COMPENSATION I HAVE NO LIFE AND THUS ALL I DO IS PLAY EVE ALL DAY INTERNET SPACESHIPS IS GODDAMN SERIOUS BUSINESS YOU UNDERSTAND?
Nah it's cool. All you people whining about the server, suck it up and do something else.
Read a book, I here those things have been popular for years. Do the washing up so you're not thinking "No clean plates, better order pizza." again. Clean your room maybe, get rid of all those Mountain Dew cans and the sticky tissues from when you saw that hot character portrait.
People whining about the server being down for a bit longer on one day annoy me more than the actual server being down.

Oh noes, it is the end of the world as servers are down extra hour which in turn makes CCP truly worst company ever. On top of that they actually managed to make this game so that we don't get random disconnects while online inspite of these bloody DT's which occasionally gets extented. Sheesh i'm utterly disappointed by this lack of crappy performance we are not getting which most of the other MMO's offer us.
(disclaimer: never been in Jita since i have brains, thus i can't say anything bout that)

Ok A now complete. B = Another brew on C = Had another 2 ciggies D = Still thinking about eating, but put off by: E = The cat had a dump in its tray in my hidey-hole cellar. evacuated same with great haste, leaving sounds of PC gagging violently. F = Put the 'phone down on another telesales person who started out with "Mr J... I hope you're having a good day...".
W*nker.
Oh wait... I wonder if he was from CCP?
No. Impossible. That'd be an oxymoron.

Whine whine, I want my 5 cents back! Also, its in the EULA that you agreed on when you payed that they will not reimbursed lost play time due to downtime.

Edited by: Rheddin on 07/04/2008 14:08:43 hmm if you add up all the time saved when the cluster has come up early (like, say, yesterday when it was up after 1/2 hour) and subtract that from all the hours for which downtime has been extended..
I be it comes up below 0. I bet you've had more early uptime than extended downtime.
So moaners, be careful. You might just end up owing CCP money!!
