That was never promised. It was made clear long ago that individual parts of ships could not be targeted.
IMO the biggest missing feature is laser sights on laser cannons

You sure about that? Because I distinctly remember them saying that it would be implemented at some point, though maybe they changed their minds after that.

Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

I'm very new to Eve, but already I am noticing a few problems with the game and am having a few ideas for improvements or additions to the game. In the Escrow, it's virtually impossible to find something specific quickly. I have to search through pages of escrow offers before finding one that appealed to me. Some sort of advanced search function would speed that up nicely. Why is it that whenever a ship locks onto you, that there is no way to lose the lock without going outside of their range? Surely a module could be introduced to scatter an already established lock temporarilly.
Somthing I hear occasionally that I thought would be excellent is a criminal flagging system with a permanant criminal record that corps could look up when you ask to join them. The idea, also, that certain nations will confiscate certain materials appeals to me. For example, the Gallente might allow drugs but confiscate slaves. A shuttling system where you fit your ship with a cabin bay and NPCs or PCs at the station agree to pay a certain ammount for safe passage to a certain system or space station - That's what I want to see. None of this flying about with 5 tons fo VIPs in your cargohold, looking for a place that will buy them for a profit nonsense.
There's probably more, but I have to sleep some time and now is as good a time as any.

That is something I would absolutely love to be reimplemented! The option to turn, accelerate and decelerate your ship manually with Ctrl and the cursor keys would put such a big smile on my face.

If I might just state to begin with that I used to play this game in both Alpha and Beta. (Quit at launch) And Was resently given the chance to play it again in the form of a trial account. I must say this game has progressed quite a lot since the last time I played. Market works great. The feel of the game is just about mix of hardcore SF that we all love. And quite a solid group it seems in the community working hard towards a better game expirience. The game has come together since I played. It also seems to be working better and better it seems on the game mechanics side.
But one thing, this game is very close to one year old. But it looks almost the same since I left. It almost looks like they sacked all those amazing graphical designers, that came up with all those jaw dropping scenery you face everytime you log.
I have been playing an unmentioned MMORPG that has rolled out over hundreds of small items that colour the world since its one year debut. I am sure there is a lot more out there in the world of EVE then spaceships, turrets, spacestations and planets. I feel that the devs are doing a good job overall. But this is something I would want too see and improvment in as well.
This is basically my oppinion from being a year away. (A decision Im starting to regret) But nevertheless I hope you all agree that some small extra variety besides game mechanics can also deepen the expirience.

DEFINITELY a paintshop.
and in general, a flexible visual appearance of a ship. for instance, when armour plating is outfitted, the ship should look more badass or for afterburners/mwd, an extra exhaust valve or something could b added.
but DEFINITELY a paintshop

Be nice for an EVE databse along the lines of the civilopedia in the Civ games, that way you could browse checking different items and ships as you travel instead of doing it in the market at a station. The Wahoo Shock Project |

Edited by: Wren on 20/04/2004 08:11:57 The contract system that was mentioned earlier in this thread and back in the days of BETA development was something that would have promoted a more personalized and multi-player environment.
Supposedly, you could contract out miners to obtain X ore to be placed in Y station before day ZZ/ZZ/ZZ at XX:XX eve time and they would be paid **** ISK.
Or hire player or corp A to provide escort for ship ABCDEFG from system XXXX to system YYYY. Once there, the escort ship's captain would issue the escorting ships the payment.
Or player X could hire player Z to kill player A.
Actually, the system was supposed to be agile and flexable, yet able to guarentee that payment would be issued upon successful completion of the contract.
I lament this being removed or dropped.
I also think that CCP has drastically underestimated how much people like to make things look cool / customize their characters, and unfortunatly, in this game, the ship is the character. So why don't we see neater/cooler effects or skins when we add moduals to our ships?
Example: When I install armor, I should see it. When I add electronics packages, I should see more antenna or dishes or something. When I add mwd or afterburners, I should see additions to my engines. All this would make the look at feature not only cool, but a valuable way to quickly guess what gear a ship is flying around with.
Next thing is those implants and boosters. We were supposed to be able to get skills, advantages, and other effects from using them. Gutwrencher or something was supposed to allow you to take more G's in space, thus allowing you to turn at a higher rate. I think that was one of the examples.
Market- The market and economy is so ... sterile. We have people who can buy milk and frozen seeds right next to people buying nuclear warhead missiles and tons of ammo to kill people with. Why and how could it be so easy for anyone and everyone to purchase weapons in a galaxy that is supposed to be on the ever-balanced cold war? I say that it is totally absurd. Buying a hand gun is different then buying a 500 ton battleship.
Colony/station/bases Something about making money and resouces (ore or trade goods?) from building stations or outposts around planets or close to asteroid belts.
Finally, the id codes that was supposed to be available for every ship in space, so that tracking them would be easy for the bounty hunter/ wannabe police.
Just agreeing with everyone else basically. --------------------------------------------------

PASSENGERS. Ships used to have this stat. If you could eject your egg *IN STATION* and board another player's ship to have him whisk you across the universe, that would be so cool. People could earn a living as super-fast transporters. Wanna move your corp buddies out? Whack 'em all in the back of your Crow and tear off to the arse end of nowhere. Wait, what's that? Oh yeah, you can't get your egg out in-station. Oh and, what? Indy's can't carry tiny unassembled frigates. Say? Oh the Indy's are far too tiny model-wise?

Yes please bring back the paintshop function and allow CEO's to come up with a corp. theme and also have corp. logos put on ships. (maybe offer skin options like show info so we can se them like we do with portraits in chat)...

Seconded.
Oh, and paintshop :P
I'm pretty happy otherwise, so far. I've only played 3 weeks or so though. :D But the lack of passenger transport and having to shuffle my ships the way one does is driving me raving.
The paintshop just seems obvious, since your char = your ship. At the least Corp logos, eh? --- Mining & Transport - Logistics Division - Hadean Drive Yards
