1 year? Or 2-3? Everyone has their own opinion so I hope this thread can be a place where everyone can share theirs with everyone else. I personally think Jove will become a playable race when member count is in decline two years from now as a last ditch effort by CCP to keep people interested. Don't get me wrong, I hope EVE keeps going until 2020 and then some, but with how upset CCP has made a large portion of their player base recently I would be a fool if I didn't have my own set of doubts.

Its almsot 5 years now, or passed it. And the subscribtion has seen rise only, why would CCP end the game when its their income, if anything they can sue the income for bigger ambitions. In another word we'll get screwed, thats as bad as it can get for now.

The people who post on the forum are only a minute portion of the actual player base of Eve. Also if you notice it's the same group of people whining about how EVE sucks. I'll keep playing as long as it entertains me.

I'm going to leave room for the faint possibillity of some horrible change that destroys the concept of EVE entirely however unlikely. Barring that i'm the same. Also I don't get why the op thinks the devs have ****ed many people off lately. They've done some GREAT work. Considering the population was about a third what it is now 3 years ago and many times more then when it started I don't expect EVE to die any time in the next decade. Especially if they periodically update the graphics like they did with trinity. _______________

Try not to count me as one of them, I appreciate EVE for what it is even with all its flaws. I'll admit it is difficult for newer players to dig their heels into a game that permanently rewards veteran pilots via skill points but I'll be the first person to say that early adopters should see some benefit from that and also that although EVE isn't without it's own set of problems almost entirely separate from other MMOs, that I wouldn't have it any other way.
Keep on keeping on, EVE.

Please please please tell me how you think the 20 original posters and their countless 'back up my line of reasoning' alts in a some random whine thread no mater how many pages it gets to constitutes a large portion of the playerbase? Most of the playerbase don't know the forums exist or even care if they do. Now if you had said large portion of the forumbase I would have believed you but since they only make up about .02% of the playerbase I don't think Eve is in any trouble of loosing sufficient members to shut it down. Why not. |

Actually it's 23 DEC, isn't it?
I've been thinking of organizing a mass call- in to Coast To Coast AM on 24 DEC 2012 if it's still on with the main objective being simply to point and laugh.

EvE has the potential to last almost indefinitely. It can be expanded at will as long as financial resources are available.

would CCP still provide EVE game service if world war 3 broke out?
maybe mothball the database and wait for better times, or start fresh?

Lol, I can honestly say I read someone write the exact same predicition about Jove 2 years ago . Here is my comment on the future of EVE, ignoring your "****ing people off comment".
One of two things happens to every MMORPG, an identical game comes out that quickly pulls away subscribers, or people slowly dwindle away out of lack of interest.
Every space MMO I have heard of in recent years has either been a flop or not even made it to release date, so I don't think EVE will be going quickly. And seeing as subsription rates havn't started going down yet, I don't think we are in the regression stage either.
Here is something to think about with regards to EVE randomly dying. Everquest is still alive and going after 9 years, and it survived both WoW (Another fantasy MMO), and EQ2 (Its successor) being released.
EDIT: Removed comment about his last comment, as it had already been clarified, need to learn to actually read all the posts in the thread, not just gleem them

I have been here now for like 2,5 years, and I still cry blood that I was not here during Beta.
I have tried most of the current online games. I have seen most of the coming online games. And as it stands, not one is able to compete with EVE in any way.
For me, this is the only online game. And from what I know about this game, it can go on forever just like real life! Adding for example Ambulation and planetary terraforming, inhabitation etc.
ill be around for some more years no doubt about that!

So which one are you complaining about? Did the RMT ISK you bought get confiscated, or was your hulk ganked in hi-sec, or what? I'm guessing this obvious troll is obvious post is RMT related... but that's just a guess. |

Big guess. I was just throwing the question out there, nothing happened to me and no wrong was done or anything like that. No need to flame pre-emptively. |

Can't say for sure I'll be here until the servers shut down. I might die first.
Even in the unlikely event that some other MMO grabs and keeps my attention, I think that enough people love EVE that it will have a nice long run.

CCP has to pry the steering-wheel of my Caldari Navy Raven from my cold, dead, lifeless hands before I let them close the game down :P
I've been playing well over a year in total - I wouldn't say I'm a old-dog yet but I have never played a MMO this long and not get bored of it yet. I have no reason to believe that CCP is dying now or will be in the near future. This game has been around for a while as it is, and still has many years ahead of it IMO. |
