I admit I haven't played poker in my entire life (nor do I have an interest for it) so how does this work? You put at stake some isk and in case you win you get a higher amount or you lose it all. Something like that? You say you will only gamble using small amounts. Well why the f do you need 15B unless at some point (determined by previous successes) you are going to gamble with the whole amount and face the risk of losing more than you can cover? I don't blame your for you for being who you are, the real culprit abusing people's trust and profiteer here is the one running the whole poker business, Selene D'Celeste.

That's not how this works. (Btw, poker pro's feel free to correct me on any of this)
In texas hold'em there is no 'house' at the table. You don't try to beat the house, instead you compete against other players for thier money.
E.g. I play a game with you, we both stake 1 bil. That means the total winnings are 2 bil. The house would then take a small percentage of this (don't know if that's what Selene does), lets say it 1%. So the house gets 20 mil and the pot is now 1.98 bil.
We then play poker, usually until one player has got the entire pot. That's then the end of the game and the player who won keeps the 1.98 bil pot.
Because you're not playing against the house, it is far easier for a good player to make a consistent profit playing texas hold'em than, say, blackjack. |

I would like to know more about how this service works (small percentages and crap) it could turn out to be a very lucrative means of passively gaining isk at least on the behalf of the house in which case I think some competition would be in order. Just imagine all those poker tables and the potential number of games. Small percent + small percent and so on.
Originally by: Selene D'Celeste I'm sad to say that we've had our first banker incident in our almost half a year history.
One of our bankers, known as both xG3NOCiDEx and Dragon Rose, lost a couple of games and owed 3b in debt to a couple of players that he lost to. Instead of paying, he decided to default. The actual bets given to Geno were refunded by myself, since that was theft and it happened in my establishment. I take no responsibility for his gambling debt, only the losses incurred by others. So while I wish that the folks who won the games against him could claim a few bil in winnings, they are going to have to hunt Geno down and extract that for themselves ;)

With all the negative comments about the legitimacy of this as an IPO, I think it's worth comming forward to say why I did choose to invest.
The MD regulars of you will probably have seen my name before. I've invested in a wide variety of IPOs and bonds in this forum. I don't make a big fuss about it, so it's likely that few of you have noticed me.
The reason why I invest in anything here and on Scrapheap Challenge, is because I have a large amount of surplus isk. I have a number of profitable enterprises ticking along in high-sec, low-sec and 0.0 which have a habit of producing more funds than I can easily make use of. I cannot easily scale my business operations or expand into new fields because I have limited time and attention. Also, like many EVE players, I tend to spend a large portion of my time making with the pew-pew so the amount of money-making time I have available is strictly limited.
So, what do I do with all this surplus isk? Simply put, I gamble it. I take punts on high-risk investment oppertunities, I throw money at people I find amusing, I bankroll hair-brained schemes just for the giggles.
Now this particular IPO has a number of factors that really push my buttons:
1. AC is an entertaining chap with a good reputation and good head on his shoulders, that makes him a viable investment in my book.
2. This is high risk, so it's exiting. It has potential for very high rewards, so it's even more exiting.
3. It's different. I'm bored with all the "meh" investments with dull fixed returns and no real spice to them.
Of course, as I've already explained, I only put my spare isk into these investments. I never put money in I can't afford to lose and I treat every investment as a gamble. I'm backing this particular horse in full knowledge that it could fall at the first fence and end up as glue. Some times you have to live a little! |

Actually, that's exactly what this is. 7% per month, regardless of actual profits.

I think you may want to re-read some of the thread, particularly since you have reserved a stake in this. In particular, you should look at the part that states:
Quote: The amount of the dividend will obviously be based on the profits I am able to make during the month. 50% of the profits will be used as my monthly salary while the other 50% will be issued as dividend payments.

You know, you really should see someone about that. The whole envy/grief thing that you have going on. Latching on to a handful of successful people and attempting to grief them at every opportunity is why your IPO thread was the trainwreck it was. But maybe you get joy by hoping that you've inconvenienced someone over the internet, so enjoy the little things I guess =) I just find such behavior rather silly and unfulfilling.
For everyone else, there is plenty of documentation in the thread linked by AC, as well as in-channel, and I'm willing to answer any evemails wondering about how this works.

Every forum has it's trolls. Although I think it's quite damning that the MD forum hasn't managed to attract ones of a better calibre. |

Just an FYI to anyone. This is a variable interest IPO based where the % of the dividends are based on how much profit I can turn each month not a fixed interest loan or bond. If my profits amount to a 6% dividend, then everyone will receive a 6% dividend. If they amount to a 20% dividend, then everyone will receive a 20% dividend.

Thanks for not reading any of the other questions/replies or even the IPO document itself. The entire 15b won't be used for poker. And as I mentioned in another reply, I doubt half that figure will be used most of the time. And at no will I gamble with the whole 15b as I've already explained in other posts.

I don't blame you for not reading the ipo document or the questions and responses found in this very thread.
Originally by: YouGotRipped Oh and Selene, I hope you're not using the isk people have stored in their E-bank accounts for this, i.e. ripping people off and using their own money to do so.
Please don't troll. If you want a thread of your own to say stupid **** in then please start another one of your IPO threads. Don't hijack mine for the sake of making accusations. |

Lot of talk in here. The guy clearly stated what his business was and that it was high risk.So those who feel like a gamble invest in it and those that don't like to gamble keep their money.
I really can't see what the discussions all about.
