Which "configuration" are you using? Do you use multiple clients?

Edited by: Lara Kotran on 02/06/2008 19:43:40 My pc: 8800GT 3gb ram ddr2 intel duo core 6400 HD 160 gb sata-2
Before Trinity 1.1 I run 2 accounts per time by the same folder without problem.
After trinity 1.1 I have always these errors, dual box impossible or very difficult, crahs of the client (and I need to reboot my pc).
I tried everything, 2 eve folder, rivatuner, AA settings, enhancer, windowed and full screen, all settings to the max, with hdr, without hdr, ect...no solution yet.

Is there an advantage to running EVE from more than one folder? I run 3 chars (classic) from one folder with sound and everything switched on, on a machine that is 2.5 years old. Everything seems to work ok, could it be better with a folder for each char?
*wonders why everyone has more than one folder and feels left out*

The main purpose for using multiple folders was to keep cache files separate. You could even gain a bit of performance by putting each client's eve files on a different drive. Since the cache was moved to documents and settings it doesn't make a difference anymore since separate folders no longer gives a performance improvement. The only way it helps now is if you use the /LUA:OFF switch but since that's been blamed for crashes and whiteout now you might as well just use 1 folder.
The only benefit to separate folders now is to keep your settings files separate for each account.

Originally by: CCP Sputnik My System: Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254) Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 2048MB RAM Page File: 1955MB used, 4030MB available DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
On this System multiple clients (tested up to 4) work fine, I used only premium clients form one or multiple installations. Could you guys please post your system information so I can try to run the test on a machine which is more similar to yours?
By looking at your system and comparing it to mine, something HAS to be wrong. I have a: Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP2 Processor: Intel Core Duo E6750 @ 2.66Ghz (2 cores) Memory: 2048MB RAM Page File: 3937 available, never over 1800 used at any time DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c Card name: XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS
With the above settings, if I run 2 premium clients with Shadows Normal and Bloom High, I will not get more than 10-15 FPS on both clients. If I turn shadows off and Bloom none (any difference between bloom none and un-checking the bloom box?) then I can run 2 clients premium averaging 50 FPS
How on earth did you ran 4 clients premium? Also both my clients have their separate folders. Only 1 of them run sound. |

could one of you guys with the whitespace issue set the cache size in all used clients manually? and tell if it solves the issue?

Up till around 2 weeks ago, I could run 2 clients at the same time.
Everytime I start a 2nd client now, my GFX drivers restart and then my system locks up

Possibly related to: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=810031 and http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=820570
When I run 2 clients at same time then sometimes when both characters are undocked and I dock one of them then both client's FPS drops drastically. If I dock then both characters either it magically goes up a little again, or it drops even more. When both characters are out in space the FPS goes up again. Strange thing is that this doesn't happen 100% of the time, but it will happen every day after playing a bit (docking, jumping, market checks).
Another odd problem that sometimes occurs is that I have one client open for a few hours and I want to start another client then it gives that .dll error. If I then change my first client to full screen and back to windowed mode and minimize it again, then I can start the 2nd client without problems. After both are logged on the problems from above will occur again.
From what I can tell resetting the graphics (going to full screen or disabling/re-anabling HDR) will solve the .dll problem at start up. I've had the .dll problem before with Premium too, wasn't able to play EVE for a long time, it just wouldn't start at all, each time the .dll error. Turned out that it was related to an audio problem, I had DTS Interactive turned on in my audio settings, disabling that solved that problem (took me 1 month to figure that out...). But the FPS drops have something to do with a session-change I think, after docking lag starts. Not difficult to reproduce.
My system specs & info: - C2D E6600, GF 8800 GTS 320MB, WinXP SP2 - latest drivers are installed for all hardware - two seperate EVE folders on different hard drives - both clients are running Premium graphics - both clients are running in Windowed mode 1600x900 - graphic settings: HDR/Bloom High, Shadow Quality Normal, Cache Size Normal (I tried Low and High also)
I'm really trying everything I can to get this fixed, I just can't play properly anymore with 2 accounts running. If I tested a few things I'll to keep thread updated.
Thx
