OK guys, if anyone would like to help out it would be great.
How about a huge massive one, i mean one that will be running for months! All we need is to have one 0.0 system to utilise as the tournament system, pref with a station in it.
I'll start working on the logistics of it now, more details in the next few days.....
til then 'RUBBER DUCKY '

hell yes! I guess that means interceptors should be excluded.
So you are thinking something like a tournament season? players score points from wins/losses.. round robin stuff? I'd pay. Even for just participating in a couple of rounds

Ok, so far the ideas that i have for the tournament goes like this:
1, the classic 1v1
2, 5v5 Corps wars. (The corp enters the tournament as a whole. Can be any 5 members, not necessarily the same ones)
3, race wars 1v1. (For the RP guys out there . 4 subsections are Amarr flying Amarr against each other and so on for Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar)
All of them will start on a League system and once everyone has played against a certain number of other competitors the top players are entered into a knock-out tournament.
I now it is all still a bit vague, but better organisation of the exact structure will be a hell of a lot easier when i know the roughly how many ppl will be entering.
oh, and entry fees will be required . These will all go into the prize pot for the winners.

P.S. I'll be making an Alt char for ppl to eve-mail their interest and ideas to. The Character will be the official co-ordinator, I'll tell yas the name in about 20mins when i've created him/her. More details to come over the next few hours as i sort out the jumblt that's in my head right now

OK, anyone interested in the Tournament please eve-mail The Mook ingame. This way i can get an idea of what exaclty you guys are looking
This will not be a 1 or 2 week run event, it is gonna be massive. I would love to run it for at least 2-3 months but this will only happen with your help

Sounds great! I'll definitely be competing >:)
And excluding interceptors ? Why ? You'd just make it so only interceptors could fight other interceptors/magnates. Unless of course someone wanted to fight a superior vessel >:)
At any rate I think it's a great idea, should do it arena style with an audience and big brawny bouncers/peacekeepers. Dev/Aurora support would be cool (possibly a prize from them?) And corporations should sponsor it. I'd definitely bring a bunch of people with me into this kind of a competition.
Once it's established you should branch into cruiser vs cruiser and battleship vs battleship duels and competitions, have a system where you get points for every victory depending on strength of foe, with grand master status and a ranking system..
Loads of potential

maybe have 3 on 3 ladder matches with one pilot getting 2 pick 2 entry's in the tournament as his wingman. Also maybe limit the use of certain weapons such as cruise missles so that frigates without the ability too launch 4 at once aren't immediately obliterated. Also have different levels of competition such as rookie level, advanced, and expert with entry at each level costing different amounts and having different payouts depending on the level their competing at. Also limiting mounting of such devices as ecm too keep the fight fairer in the lower competitive ladder seeing as electronic warfares a fairly high level skill.

Okay, I think its a bit too ambitous, to be honest, I think you might just manage it if you stick to your original plan, whilst the other ideas are great, I think he'd die of exhaustion if he put them in too
I agree with not having cruise missiles, or maybe no missiles at all? Because a ship without launchers can't really do anything about them, unless he/she jammed the ship, but then the ship could just equip anti-ecm devices and missile launchers... and would win every time...
As for ECM, sorry, but I think it should stay, its an integral part in ship setup, and to be honest, it doesn't require that high a level skills, and neither do anti-ecm devices. Remember, this isn't just a newbie tournament :) .

Heavy missile will prob be the biggest missile allowed, if we removed missile all together it would prevent the likes of a Kestrel, Inquisitor and Breacher from being viable ships to be used in the Tourny.
I want as broad a range of players in the tourny as possible so everything else modules ways is gonna stay
But one thing that is definately needed is a rough number of ppl who are going to enter, this will help greatly in working out the logistics of it all. I'll post up any help i need soon, right now i'm off the eat my Dinner

how about fights like 3 frigs vs 1 int, or even cruiser? (3 might not be enough, not sure. whatever to make it roughly fair.), kinda like in rome where theyd have a bunch of slaves try and take on a) gladiators or b) Lions. Could be interesting :)

well so far i have looked into three systems that may be viable locations to hold the tournament in, they are:
1, SKARKON/ MOLDEN HEATH REGION 2, NAGA/ ARIDIA REGION 3, EZA_FM? SYNDICATE REGION
One thing i will definately need will be some support from all the major alliances. It will be great if i could get a representitive from each alliance to offer their services in a security council to help protect the competitors and spectators. I also ask if any alliance lays claim to any of these systems to contact 'The Mook' in game and state whether they would allow useage of the system during tournaments.
I want to try and get the full support of the community in this endeavour to hopefully have competitors in the tournament that reflects the broad spectrum characters in this great game that is called EVE
oh by the way, if any of my previous posts, or future ones, are damn near unreadable i've an excuse . My grammer is deplorable due to having slight dyslexia half the time when i proof read something i can't even makes sense of it

Oh, was wondering. could someone from the Aurora Project leave me contact details?
I'm still gathering up info about how much organisation this will take and would love some official help . Hopefully tomorrow by about 9pm GMT i'll have a broad plan sorted out about how the tournament will work. Thanks in advance

ya know, theres really no reason for this not to take place in Empire space... just have the people who are fighting gang each other so they wont be blown up by concord.

I'd recomend X-7omu or one of the other SOE systems in Pure blind, they have stations, are only a few jumps from empire and the nearest Alliance is the PA who can generaly be trusted.

Or you could do this in Empire by setting up a couple of corp at war with each other (ie Red team and Blue team), that the contestants can join for their battles.

only problem with the two corp thing is the hassle for the contestants to leave their corp just for an hour or two and then rejoin it again. Was thinking that maybe entropy server would be handy for it, but i don't know if ccp would allow this

With the new leaving/joining corps rules, a red/Blue corp war wouldn't work! It would take 24 hours to leave your old corp! and the rejoining and resetting peoples rights would also be a pain!!
But I like the idea of the frigate tourney!! WOW will be putting a team in!
I would "suggest" 2 to 4 regional fight areas! That way you could start them as regional events, and work up to a champions tourney at the end. That way someone from Stain would have to run the gaunlet of 1.0 space all the way to F-E as an example!

I am interrested in 1v1 and free for all 0.0 is fine with me. I will not leave my corp to join a BlueTeam or RedTeam corp.
Auldare contrat on starting something like that, don't give up! --------------------------------

I wouldn't be too happy about it being on entropy, sorry. I feel it would detract from the game experience, it would just feel, wrong?
I'm all for the regional tournaments idea, though .
...you know, I can also see a possible opening for a bookmaker in all of this (for gambling), maybe BIG Games could get involved? Might be a monumental task, but, hey . I were thinking that instead of having odds, they could just split the money from all the losing gamblers, with all the winning gamblers, dead easy, and maybe they could make a small profit out of it too? Oh man, that would be sooo cool , all in all, contact BIG games!

was thinking the same thing Haggis, I'll get in contact with BIG asap about it. Regional would be great, it just depends on how much staff i can get to help run it all. i'll post more in the next hour or so as i digest everyone ideas.

ach, propper betting with odds would be much more fun (if anyone is upto the task), being the longshot and winning, making sure you only just win to keep your odds good and of course match fixing

The problem being it would only end up in BIG Games being completely broke (for instance, someone putting a massive bet on something, and then winning, yes, it could go the other way, but, with odds it would mean that the 'other side' most probably wouldn't pump in enough money to cover the winnings and also the losses of the 'other side' simply being split evenly (and everyone only being allowed one bet, unlike in the lottery) would actually allow BIG to make a profit, for a change, as well as it being dead simple, although, time consuming seeing as the money would have to be given to each player individually (maybe ccp could help there?))
