So I recently started doing this, red the guide and found some sites succesfully, but now...
The past few days, I drop my Multispectralprobe and find lets say a Radar signature. The system is perfect, I can put one 4AU probe at ever planet, but still I get no results!!! not even after 3 times...
Now the question is, should I continue scanning or is it just not gona happen?
What am I doing wrong here .

First, make sure you have your exploration skills at 4 or so. Second, make sure you're using the correct probes. Third, be aware you may have to scan dozens of times if the signal is very weak. Fourth, have a good book or a movie to while away the time you're going to spend on a weak signal. Fifth, try booze if books/movies aren't your thing. Sixth, there is no sixth. ------ "When in doubt, aim for the crotch." "There's no problem that the application of suitable firepower cannot fix."

Nothing.
Sometimes it takes 1 scan sometime many many more.

I have yet to see a 'perfect' system for scanning. The innermost probe often covers a few planets. With bookmarks, its possible to cover on ecliptic space, but it can be very difficult to cover the space off the ecliptic. This could be where your signature is hiding. |

Ok to put it real simple. Some exploration sites i have spent more then 5 hours tracking down. Just expect that to happen. If it has a week signal, you have better odds of getting a decent site. All sites will be within 4 au of a planet, (unless its bugged) but after 3 scans, you are no where near a point to give up. All my scanning skills are at 4 or 5, I have the sisters probe launcher, the rigged ships ect.. basicaly just about the best i can be. And still just last night, I found a hard to find signature, with quest probe after about 2 hours that put me in comb range. 15 scans later i got a hit that put me in sift range, and even with a sift that is much easier to hit a site, it took me 10 more scans to get a 0 acuracy hit. This was a medium sized hidden belt.... that is longer then it normaly takes me to find a medium sized belt but its all about luck. Large belts i have been lucky enough to track down a few, but they took a very long time.

I yesterday discovered 'eve radio' as a good way to pass the time while probing. |

As the guide says, exploration is chance based. |

3 scans - that's absolutely normal. If I were to average hitting a site after 3 scans I'd be happy. 3 sets of probes - that's uncommon, but not unheard of. Skill up. You should be able to scan in under 3 minutes with decent skills, rigs, and sisters launcher. This will give you many more attempts per set - but can still take multiple sets to get a hit. |

Thanks for your replies.
I have yet to discover what the 30 milion sisters launchers has for advantages other then that you can launch the next probe faster ?
Also what about these myths in the guid "don't warp off or press scan or cloak if your launcher is still blinking"?
Sometimes my solar system map does not show the 'bubbles' from my probes wich make it sometimes impossible to know where you just were, or where there will be overlap...
any answers?

That's the advantage, and a huge advantage it is for most people. Quicker scans = more scans and less probe dropping = more iskies for your time.

Not myths, but outdated information. (At least with COCII ships.)

It happens, and I don't know of a solution. However, it's more of a nuisance than anything since you should be setting up scan bms by range rather than just visually. Only time it bothers me is when I'm dropping a short range probe but am still keeping the rest of my Quests up. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

The bubbles show up on the solar system map if you select the probes on the system scanner screen.

Except there's a bug where you can have all the probes selected, but only the spheres of some will be displayed. |

But when you drop a probe, you warp to the next spot to drop another probe, surely even if the next BM is only 5000km away, your launcher will be done blinking in order for you to drop the next probe, what advantage am I missing of the sisters launcher....???

LOL the scans run faster. Are you using exploration probes (quest etc) or recon probes (snoop, spook, fathom, etc?). Sisters scan probe launcher runs faster scans.

Ah, I understand now. No, the bonus to duration doesn't affect the activation time of the launcher, it affects the time it takes to analyze your probes.
e.g., max skilled, rigged up CovOps, no implants...
Scan Probe Launcher: 122 seconds to analyze SoE Scan Probe Launcher: 91 seconds to analyze * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

It is my understanding that warping still messes with a scan in progress. Did this change? Easy enough to test - drop a multispec, start scan, then warp.
Cloaking - you only have to be uncloaked to drop probes (which makes sense, you'll be decloaked as soon as it's in space anyways). Get 2km away and cloak up again - further still if you're in hostile space, 'cause some people will scan for probes (easy to do) show up and smartbomb... I'm hiding from my main. |

You can run missions for SoE and get them from their LP store. Or blow up a player's Exploration ship and loot it off the wreck, I guess. :P Good luck with that.

In a COCII ship, warping no longer has any actual effect on scans. I remember this working a little differently on other ships, but it's been so long since I've used something other than a CovOps or FReakon and so many bugs have been fixed, I'm not going to guess about it. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. Last but not least... I've been plunging threw all the availble ships, there seem to be no cruiser sized vessile that has the same scanspeed bonusses then the covertops or their tech I causins, minus amarr offcourse (no tech I hoodie ).
Is this a correct assumption?

That is correct. Only covert ops and astrometric frigates have a scan time bonus. |

Sisters of EVE loyalty point store. I don't know if there is any safe way to earn them... seems like mostly courier missions in 0.0. I would really like a set of their low-grade virtue implants but I'll bet they're a ***** to earn.

lol, 3 times ay
sorry, though that was funny, but ive have spent 5 hours looking for 1 radar site in a system, it had 6 planets so i had to drop 6 probes every hour but i did evently get it.
got some nice amarr data cores out of that one. :)

14400 LP and about just under 10mil from SOE store. Plus a standard scan launcher to trade in.

One other thing, are the multispectral probes also chancebased e.g. you may need multiple scans, or do they tell the truth about a systems content regarding sites after one scan...

Multifreqs always tell the contents of the system on the first scan, no chance involved. They don't tell you the number of sites though. So if you get a rad or mag hit it means 1 or more sites of that type.
