Not sure if this is the correct forum, if it isn't hopefully a mod can move it.
Back in 2006 I started playing eve, and after building my character up quite a bit I ran out of RL funds and had to stop playing. At the time I had a clone set to 12 million skill points (kappa) and was driving about in a Prophecy battle cruiser running level 3 agent missions. I just jumped back into the game yesterday to find that my skill points are at 2.5 million, even though my clone was still set to 12.5 million (I can't imagine why I would have bought one at the time if I didn't need it). A friend has only been playing for a few days and he's already up to 1.5 million.
So I’m wondering:
A) If I have a battlecruiser, drones, my learning skills finished running level 3 agent missions, does 2 million skill points seem right? B) Has there been any change to how skill points are calculated? Maybe a lot of skills have been removed or something? C) To be running level 3 agent missions, does a 2.5 million point character seem low?
I'm just a bit confused as it seems like my character is lower than it should be, but I can't quite remember what is considered high or low when it comes to skill points. Does my skill points seem about right, has something changed?
Thanks for any information guys, I'm very confuzzled.

someday back they changed the starter characters. you started with 80k skillpoints, learning all from the scratch up. "new" characters start with 800k skillpoints.
second, 2,5mil is realy low for a good prophecy, you canŠt fly one, just sit in, with bad drones ....
yes its possible that you flew lvl3 with 2,5mil. but... i wouldnŠt recommend it :)

Well that is interesting. See I'd been using my prophecy for ages and was getting ready upgrade to a battleship, so maybe something is wrong with my skills. At the time I started playing I thought I was more around 13 million skill points hence the clone I had (I remember hearing BOB had a 20 million skill point entry barrier, and thinking I was getting close to that, not that I had any intention of joining). On the other hand does 13 million sound too high, or more along the lines of someone who would be flying a prophecy with level 3 agent missions?
How odd this all is. If I contacted support over it, is it something they could look at? Maybe they have a better history of the character?

Well the skills for the ship seem to be there, but it seems that a some of other ones are missing. For example electronics upgrades level 1 is now missing, despite the fact I had a cpu booster installed on my ship.
Perhaps most bizzare of all is that upon logging in, and not having played for a year, my Drones skill is still learning |

You still need to train your skills during your year off, just having a 12m clone doesn't mean your character will train skills untill it has 12m sp automatically - that's what you don't understand as far as i understand it from you.
How many SP did you have before you quit? Because you won't have more than that, skills don't train themselves. You technically can fly a battleship with less than 1m SP (if you started out before the 800k sp starter char change), so being able to fly a battlecruiser or battleship says nothing about the amount of SP you have. I know plenty of characters who can't even fly cruisers, yet have more than 10m SP.

How long did you play for? 12.5mill SPs must be around 8 months of gameplay iirc; are you sure you played for that long? -----

Oh yeah I get that. I just meant that when I logged in I thought I was around 13 million or so points from memory, then when I saw the clone I thought "yeah that seems about right". I get the clone has nothing to do with how many points I might have had, especially if everyone got their bumped up anyway.
I'd been playing for about 6 months at the time (10 including the missing 4 months between my last learnt skill and when I cancelled my account) with level 5 learning skills.
I've sent an email to support to see if they know what is going on, so I'll see what they think about it.

I am missing the defender missiles which I learned in my early days, before noticing that the module is utter crap especially in missions. When I turned to invest in missile skills after drones and gunnery I got the 'you meet all prequisites to learn defender missiles' entry.
Not that I miss that skill .

At the time when new players were getting 800k starting SP, they altered the base SP kept by the first clone to 900k.
This meant everyone else effectively got a boost to there clone as those with the "first" level of clone were now sitting with one a level higher.
The fact you are saying you have a 12m clone suggests you actually had one at a lower level that got upgraded due to the above.
I was running lvl4 missions in a BS (admittidly the easy ones) with only 3m SP, so it's likely you could have been running lvl3's.
You also mention starting 2006. If you'd read up on ways to maximize your SP growth rate when starting and put in +4 implants (200m for 4 back in those days) you could have ended up with around 15m SP after 1 year.
So did you play for over a year? Did you leave a long skill training when you stopped?
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |

You must be pretty terrible at this game if you can't handle a level 3 mission with 2.5 mil SP and a bcruiser.
Terrible advice imo.

Sounds like you just have a rosy remembrance of your previous time playing eve.
As everyone else has said, they buffed starting characters, implants are cheaper and clones hold more.

A similar thing happened to me once. I hadn't taken a break, but logged on as usual to find I had lost a load of skill points. Turned out my Black Market Trading V skill had dissapeared (yes I am aware it apparently doesn't work), losing me 512,000 skill points. Confused, I petitioned it. A few days later I got a reply along the lines of: what's wrong? we don;t see anything, were you killed with a clone lower than your skill points? etc etc. But by then my skill had magically reappeared... maybe some of your skills have magically dissapeared, but will reappear in a few days? ----------------------------------------------------------------- check out 'narcotics' channel for what you need :) -----------------------------------------------------------------

That is true, I've had friends who have lost Caldari Cruiser 5 once they resubscribed after a year, then it appeared again a day later.
