Edited by: Siadyu on 29/04/2008 08:37:38 The arguments in this thread are fairly disingenuous. It's true that you can't do very much with isk alone. However, you can use the isk you purchase to buy characters, which will put you years of gameplay ahead of someone who rolled their own character. There is little question that isk and character trading have a large impact on the game.
On the other hand, I'm not aware of any MMO in which RMT doesn't have a large impact on the game.

Isk alone is useless, I totally agree.

Character trades must go through the character selling forum and follow some rules. So, the amount of characters being sold legally is totally visible. Getting a more experienced character with isk is maybe the only true investment, as SPs, if properly protected (updating clones), are never lost. Assets are lost so fast that I wouldn't imagine giving money for them...

And also, no MMO where RMT doesn't exist at all. So, while CCP could have banned all form of RMT thus loose some customers that want to play with their real money, they made rules for it, they based the trade on something that has value for all players : playtime. Also, they made it safer for us, having identified sellers. Another point in this way of doing is the price of isk. It's all offer and demand as everything in this game, it regulated alone, and even better, the price is chosen by the players! And the last thing is increasing the playerbase, yes it's more money for CCP, but it's also more players for us to play with, and it's CCP's right to choose who can make money on their product, theyc choose the GTC resellers and not some random company of (macro)miners, (macro)farmers and (macro)spammers that are not improving our gaming experience at all, just annoying us with their presence. |
