Sadly some have ruined EVE for others. Those who used to fly as "honorable" pirates a few years back has mostly been replaced by boys who believe they get famous for being an ass. Full repect to those who still does honor the ransoms but tbh with EVE today i wouldnt set my hopes up to much for it. Therefore dont pay the ransom and thank the jerks who didnt honor it in the first place for ruining a before repected area in EVE. |

What was the ransom anyway? Unless it was significantly less than the cost of a new pod then your probably better off getting podded. |

You can be pretty much 100% guaranteed that anyone with a sec status over -10.0 will likely take your ransom and kill you anyway. I've said this before but pirates while aggressive and bloodthirsty draw the line somewhere. As much as we get hate from some of you for being so visibly hazardous, often those with higher sec status are far greater monsters than we are.
I remember specifically ransoming people in Abudban 30mil/month to be guaranteed not to be ganked by Heretic suiciders. About a dozen people did pay and were set corp blue so they would not appear on our overviews and I challenge anyone to find even a single case where someone claimed to have payed and was victimized by and "overview glitch". In that same thread the carebears there confessed exactly what I'm talking about. Things like: "You'll just take our money and kill us anyway, because that's what I would do.", and that was their own words, not mine. While -10.0 sec status may not be a mark of a truly nice guy we're at least willing to honor any promise we do make, usually only on the pod though, we're really in this for the killmail. |

Best way I found to deal with someone warping into your missions when I was still able to go in high sec wass quite simple, immediately abandon all wrecks and ignore them completely. 9/10 times they won't even take anything, they'll just warp straight back out. By abandoning all the wrecks you take away the one thing they were really after: an easy kill and/or tears and rage.
Don't quote me on this last part but if they still insist on being a pest and bumping you repeatedly so you can't warp out I believe it is petitionable in high sec only as harassment as long as you take no aggression timer against the bumper. |

That is actually well worth knowing. Thanks for the tip.
As Lady Spank likes to call them, it is possible to get tears from binmen too. Just abandoning the wrecks annoys them, yes, but so does sitting there with sentry drones out and waiting till they get the wreck in salvage range and (carefully) popping it. Last time I was in Gone Berserk I "accidentally" hit a trigger or two and the new npc spawns targeted the binman. Oops. He warped before I could loot him, sadly. |

He had a full set of +3's. Paid me 25 mil for his pod. Why would I want to screw that up? TBH, I wish people would ransom me if they catch my pod. You're right, but in hisec you can't ransom twice the same guy or even other guy from his corp because they won't fall again for this stupid trick. Also it's really funny after you dishonor ransoms how mad they become; it's totally worth it to not honor ransoms only for this (not to mention the isk).
Sorry Kazacy, but you sound like a bit of a dou*che, allow me to explain, if you were to honor the ransom most people would probably just pay to keep their stuff (thereupon making it a far more profitable enterprise being a pirate)
But of course you want to make it harder on pirates who are looking to make piracy a more profitable business. I don't pay ransoms myself, because I am well aware if you do you just lose twice. If there was a system wide protocol in place that would guarantee non-aggression then this might change
So pay heed noob pilots of new Eden, *most* pirates will NOT honor your ransoms, because the kind you will most likely run into is an egocentric idi*t like Kazacy. |

My gang refunded a 1 billion ISK ransom of a pod tonight because someone in gang screwed up and misclicked his gun grouping instead of turning off his point. As much as the full high grade slave set was a nice mail to have we would have preferred the Legion + loot and 200 million ISK a piece but 200 mil each is a small price to pay to retain our reputation. |

Thanks for the typical canned quote K, but honestly expected no better answer , for some reason I think you might be challenged in some way.

If only there were more like your group, I would happily pay a ransom if I was caught in a bad spot; however as of late, you may be the exception rather than the rule. Until there is a better ransoming system in place, I still say go down with your ship.
