CCP Tanis, I just added the dxDiag file to my bug report. Thank you.

Still no fix for the audio problem. Submitted all necessary info into bug report and its been over a week that I've been without audio on EVE. This is no fun. I don't know how some of you guys like playing without audio. It ruins it for me.
Anyhow, these are the messages I'm getting when I log in.
1st pop up box - Audio drivers not detected. Sound system will not be activated. Please make sure you have audio drivers installed.
2nd pop up box (which I didn't have this pop up originally) - Audio hardware acceleration not detected The sound system will use only software channels until you get at least 12 hardware channels to work on your computer.
Please make sure you have correct audio drivers installed.

I am having the same problem with my Realtek HD Audio on Vista SP1, however if I untick the enable audio and then retick it the sound works fine.
Not entirely sure what is going on with it but I have never had an issue on my previous laptop with a similar Realtek HD Audio on XP SP2.
Let me know if unticking and then reticking works for anyone else?

Jygar, finally! Thank you very much, it worked! After clicking and unclicking about 5 or 6 times I stopped getting the error codes and the audio started working! I have XP SP2.
Its the good folks like you in this community that keeps EVE up and running. I wish I could say the same for CCP and the devs.

This seemed to happen to me when I changed the audio source in-game from my USB headphones to the RealTek speakers. When I tried to starting the game again I kept getting that error. So I closed the game, plugged my headphones back in, and restarted the game. The sound worked fine through the headphones, so I quit the game, unplugged the headphones, started it again and the RealTek audio worked fine.

"Direct Sound" means that the game will use whatever sound the system is using. Besides, Realtek HD audio has a long history of problems with Eve, read here. I have Realtek audio and use it without hardware acceleration, without problems. Of course, sometimes it misses some of the effects, but I can live without it. I prefer that than a BSOD when I engage in combat My advice would be: open DXDiag (Start > Run > dxdiag [Enter]) and check there if you have the audio setup correct. Also check the sound control panel and the device manager to see if the system is using the correct hardware. ----

Don't forget that we can only fix issues by putting out a patch. That means we need to get reports of the problem, find the cause, code a fix, test and verify the fix, then add the fix to the next scheduled patch. This process takes time. ____________________________ I break things.
