Obvious answer: account sharing.
isn't that a bannable offence? if so then hes not leaving hes kinda forced to
I don't think you get banned for one instance of account sharing.
It looks like what happened is he friend knew his account name or e-mail password and used it to figure out how to get into his account.
Sorry to hear that though, after such an event I can't blame you for taking a break from EVE. Best of luck.

Originally by: Malcanis I'm not saying that's what's happened, just that it's a possible cause for the effect.
Or maybe DHB was simply incautious. CCP do say that they won't be responsible for the consequences if you let someone else access your account. AFAIk, it's not bannable if someone else logs into your account after you gave them the ID/PW, but it's tough luck if they take your stuff or start a war or whatever.
It could be even simpler than that, honestly.
I use some of the same passwords for different e-mail accounts and accounts at various social networking sites. A couple friends know some of these passwords, so if someone really wanted to hack into my EVE account all they'd have to do is figure out my username. My username is an online name I've used for quite some time, so that wouldn't be hard either, really.
BRB, changing password. ---------------- Tarminic - 35 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |

Originally by: Tivookz in a crystal clear case of password theft / account scamming I find it quite disturbing that CCP refuses to reinstate what once was for the one who got affected considering how long it takes to build up something meaningful in this game.
Tiv
Which is weird - in other cases of hacking, all of the stuff in question was returned, if I remember correctly.
It would be nice if a GM could comment on the situation, though I don't know if that's possible without breaking DHB's confidentiality. ---------------- Tarminic - 35 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |

So, Man up! Learn! Adapt! or GTFO! and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way to "Hello Kitty"!
(Just repeating what I've heard from this crowd for years..).
Oh yeah,... and "Your stuff??... Oh wait...
Yeah,
I did it to prove a point. These forums are filled with hipocricy of the worst kind. This right here shows it:
Originally by: Veng3ance Yeah, if it would have happened to you I would have laughed in your face,
But its not you, its a top end PVPer and major contributor to the game and community.
If you're part of the "elite PVP club" then you can **** up and get 's. If you're not, you're sent to WOW with 's and 's.
Welcome to Eve!
I dunno, I think it had a lot to do with his attitude, honestly. I've been more than happy to flame the OP in the past, mostly because I thought he came off as a self-important arrogant *******.
But that doesn't mean I want to see his account hacked. ---------------- Tarminic - 35 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |

Originally by: Matrix Skye Well, like I said before, if any other poor sap would have admitted it was a friend he knew that hacked his account the eve-o forums would've been kicking him back to WOW or Hello Kitty Online strictly blaming him for the supposed hack.
Well if we find out that he did give out his username and password, I'd do the same regardless of who he is. ---------------- Tarminic - 35 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |
