have you run all windows updates ?
if no.. Do so ..
As it happened to me in different game.. I reinstalled to win-7 .. .and the game wont even start ..put some error message.. Later on, when i updated system, it fixed the problem, and it worked. .
Also if you got EVE installed in "system directory" you will have to run it as an administrator.. or something along the lines.. As it will require permission to change files.. etc. |

Make sure you have the latest updates for Windows, drivers for your graphic card, DirectX updates, all administrator rights, and / or codecs, also try another game, try to play movie and YouTube video & sound check. May sound silly, these little things are very good indicators how well your computer is set.
Also make sure EVE is installed correctly, try safe mode to run it. If no luck, try to run under Windows XP for example via right click on EVE icon, properties, compability
By the way, this is a bad forum section But don't worry, we still love you |

Windows 7 works for me. Are you sure you are putting it in the correct gender mode? :P I mean 32 or 64 bit? |

Also I tried updating with windows update and that did not help.
I also tried playing skyrim and that also failed to run.

Have you uninstalled & reinstalled Skyrim/EVE/etc after your OS upgrade? You really should, if not. |

That.
If that doesn't solve the permissions error, disable UAC and then see if it works.

I can get skyrim to run now if I set it to run as admin but eve is a different story. I will have to reinstall it I guess. Unless anybody else has other ideas. Vote Xenuria CSM7 |

Currently Reinstalling EVE.
Any idea on how to turn off UAC for windows 7? I had to turn it off for vista because it made it impossible to run stuff. Vote Xenuria CSM7 |

Real UAC? No. MS thinks you're an idiot and don't deserve admin out of the box accounts like admin and guest are hidden for most distros of win 7 and it doesnt consider 'user' or 'owner' as admins either nor does it give you the 'tools' to make it so.
You can avoid alot of heart ache though by running the installs as admin and installing it for 'everyone' on the terminal.
Mac and Linux are the same way as far as Im concerned with root user but at least root is easy to get into on most macs its not even funny.

... You do have drivers all updated?
you may also need to turn on the advanced interrupt protocol your bios has to make it work which it should already be on by defual.

God Damned BULL **** MOTHER ******* CCP CRAPPY ******* FORUM!
Ok, my last reply was eatten by the forum. So.........................
The short of it. Reinstall Eve FIRST. If you want to back up your Eve settings copy (can't use slashes so each comma is a slash) Users, local settings or something, application data, CCP. Uninstall Eve, reinstall Eve. Copy that stuff back to where you found it. Good luck. We want breast augmentations and sluttier clothing in the NeX! |

It's not the OS because I've been running multiple accounts (up to 6 at a time) on my Windows 7 machine for over a year now. So it must be something in your configuration, etc. My suggestion - uninstall the EVE software and re-download/re-install it. Sucks if you're on dialup but... |

You have to reboot three times after re-install.
I am running EVE on 64 bit Windows 7 Professional and have UAC turned on. Maybe one of your video drivers is not Windows 7 ready |

downgrade your graph. drivers
I had similar problem, but it solved itself regardless of my tries.
Try tomorrow is absolutely not logical conclusion, but could work
Or just move whole installation somewhere else, another totally meaningless task, but could help. |

This is a typical sign for DirectX9c not properly installed
Try running C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe
Maybe you have to run this setup as Administrator.
