I'm glad Boris won, things need changing & the only changing Ken did was to put prices up on travel & introduce those stupid bendy buses where anyone could get a free ride & not pay, cuz tickets barrelly ever got chequed!!
Also does Boris remind anyone of this phrase "ooohh suit you sir!" |

We have "Bendy buses" here in Cardiff, but like everywhere else that has them and isn't London don't have a second entrance at the back of the bus, that's just stupid. Although I was on a London bendy bus when it stopped in Peckham (I think, not too sure!) and they had a conductor/police raid to catch fair dodgers. |

I wonder if the cost of the fines made up for the cost of hiring the conductors in the first place... |

I think op is tbfh see the world through rose coloured spectacles. one only has to look at the the complete mess the previous administration has done to realise why londoners voted for boris ... a few that spring to mind... the milenium dome ,the congestion charge and the london olympics are just a few royal gaffes (and no i dont live in london thank god ) but one can see why londoners said enough is enough

1. Boris Johnson supported the Iraq war - Personal opinion but WW2 debt paid and Israel signed a new peace agreement.
2. Boris Johnson supported both the election of George W Bush in 2000 and his re-election in 2004.- So
3. Boris Johnson opposed the Kyoto treaty on climate change and supported George BushÆs opposition to it - Bad
4. Boris Johnson strongly supports nuclear power - Good
5. Boris Johnson, on more than one occasion, talked about black people as æpicaninniesÆ, he has referred to Africans as having æwatermelon smilesÆ, and claimed that the original inhabitants of Uganda were capable of only æinstant carbohydrate gratificationÆ. - Media hype and selective reporting
6. Boris Johnson said that in South Africa under Nelson Mandela there was established the æmajority tyranny of black ruleÆ - Bad
7. Boris Johnson was prepared to discuss with Darius Guppy, who was later convicted of fraud, having a journalist Stuart Collier beaten up - See above re journalists
8. Boris Johnson opposed the introduction of the national minimum wage - Good
9. Boris Johnson opposed full pension rights for part time workers - Good
10. Boris Johnson is against the Social Chapter of the EU and against its provision on paternity leave. - Good
11. Boris Johnson is opposed to the congestion charge - Good
12. Boris Johnson supports both fox and stag hunting - They get shot instead, people wandering around with guns instead - great. Easier to kill with a gun more animals die.
13. Boris Johnson opposed the repeal of Section 28 and LabourÆs æappalling agendaÆ of the teaching of homosexuality in schoolsÆ. - Bad

I say t'hell with the EU. They've done nothing other than screw over British farmers and the British people. And Labour dont deserve to be in. Although, to be honest, the voting system in Britain is so messed up. I cant recall offhand how it really works, its too damn complex. I had it explained to me properly once, and even then its still didnt make sense. I think it is jsut a complete loss of British Values. Now dont get me wrong, im not one of these angry 'Get rid of every non-Anlgo-Saxon-descendant from our land!' types, cos to be honest that would include most of the country :P But I seriously hate chavs and their ilk. I mean, come on, they can hardly speak English! If people dont have respect for other people as people, it all goes to pot. Labour are just a bunch of money mongering (insert choice insult here) who dont actually care about the British people. I think, so long as people work and bring something to Britain as a whole, they should be welcome. Those who just sponge off the backs of others, whoever they are, can damn well be kicked out. I may just move to Canada and live in the mountains with a tent and a horse XD It nice out there. |

Firstly, he's Mayor of London, not Lord Mayor; thats a completely different job.
Secondly, while most of them are out of his remit, his position can be logically extended to his own role. His support for Bush tells us that he shares a political standpoint with the Republicans (further right than most Conservatives), and has sympathy with an embarrassing, bumbling foll-character (no surprise there). His antipathy towards the Kyoto and similar treaties tells us he probably won't be pursuing any pollution-cutting measures in London with any real vigour. His opposition to the minimum wage and Human Rights Act tells us he probably isn't going to pursuing a policy of creating and protecting wealth for the working classes in London, nor attempt to force London's big employers to treat workers more fairly (as was one of Ken's flagships). His vague homophobia and not-vague racism have fairly obvious impacts as leader of one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.
The rest are mostly character snipes, but valid all the same. ------
