Im not up on the conservative vs liberal stances in britain...
My question is is a london conservative the same as a US conservative?
Also, according to the wiki link he doesnt seem that bad. |

My understanding that British left is like our ultra fringe left and their right is like our moderates. With a very few fringe rights being what we would consider right. (In our terms Bush is actually very moderate) |

Well if thats the case then I would always go british right because I am typically moderate to slight right...
Seems like britain made the right choice....HAHA delicious pun. |

I think it was a hard choice for people to make. Ken has taken huge sums of money out of the londoners pocket not just with the congestion charging but also how expensive public transport is now compared to before his terms.
Boris doesn't like islam and many of his views on race in general with the things he has said have drawn criticism. I don't think he understands or cares about the communities he represents, bearing in mind London is now as multicultural as rio de janeiro.
But he will be tough on things like crime, and tories traditionally like keeping their money in their pockets so im expecting life in london should get cheaper.
Above all else the people have voted and above all else democracy must reign!

I find it funny that all elections are about picking the lesser of two evils. In the Uk we have to choose between an idiot and a commie. In the US a rascist and a corrupt buiness woman. Fun eh? |

Since Brown, Labour has been all about telling us what to do with our lives. Now they get decimated at the first poll since he took over. Work it out please? |

But anyway, I wouldn't have voted Boris. He's entertaining and all, but his policies are appalling. He's against a drive to build new homes in London to help out first time buyers, he's against trying to reduce pollution (to the extent that he supports Britain's withdrawal from the Kyoto and similar), he's for re-privatising the London Transport network (because gee, that worked out so very well last time, didn't it?) and he's even against funding new cycle lanes and similar (even though, shock horror, he rides a bike himself).
I'm not a huge fan of Ken or Brian Paddick (the Lib Dem), but I'd probably still have voted one of them or the Green, if I were a Londoner. Being funny on a TV quiz show does not a sound politician make. |

I can't help myself :P
I wouldn't vote for either, if I had the choice - however in my opinion a drunkard, lustful, old fool is better then a corrupt, rich, power hungry fool.
If you have two equally bad leaders, It's best to vote for the more stupider of the two if your looking at domestic and internal issues. They aren't cunning enough to utilize evil plans as much as the other. |

I glanced over the entire thread - I think I saw the world 'Moscow', so... Yea. :P You can't blame me for that, you would've too.
EDIT: I saw the world Social and Labour a lot too.
Looks like there is no Moscow mentioned in this thread, but there was a thread of the same topic here that had Moscow in it in - in the forum board. The mind is a odd thing :P |

Ok, so he has strong views and he isn't afraid to voice them. I don't agree with many of his views but all this tells me that he doesn't change his 'views' depending on which way popular opinion is heading. Better him than some spineless Labour *****. |

Right because sticking with unconscionable, bigoted, old fashioned, outdated and ignorant views is the hallmark of good character. |
