Hi all. I've recently been getting back into the world of EVE, and am simply awestruck at its sheer scope and following. It's hard to keep track of everything, but two things that have leapt out at me are the musical score and short stories here on this site.
I was just wandering who the author(s) of these extracts is(are), and whether they had any intention of publishing a book either based entirely on the EVE universe, or a collection of these tales. Also, I've downloaded all the available music tracks, and can't express how highly I think of them and Mr. Jon Hallur. Similarly, I was curious as to whether his work is exclusive to CCP, and if he is considering producing a soundtrack available to purchase.
Thanks for any feedback. "A sigh escapes from heaven, and worlds end." |

Good choice, although I prefer Home at Last. When I hear that, it reminds me of my newbie days when the universe seemed so big and endless. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

The only thing I don't get is the lack of back story on the Jovian/Amarr war and when the Minmatar's rebelled.

Indeed, inspiring music.
Two of my favourites are 'Merchants, Looters and Ghosts', and 'Opinions Of the Misinformed'.
Still, back on-topic, if anyone can provide any information regarding the author(s) and Jon Hallur, It'd be much appreciated. "A sigh escapes from heaven, and worlds end." |

The authors of the fiction (with the exception of some player submissions) are the content team which consists of T0rfifrans, Gnauton, and Clover. There are probably some minds that I have overlooked or do not remember.
I do not know of any plans for a compilation of the short stories. However, if there is sufficient interest in such a book, I'm sure the Marketing department would love to know.
I forwarded the link for this thread to RealX, perhaps he will be able to drop by and give an answer or two. If not, I'll follow up.

Ah, thank you kindly, kieron. I look forward to any further news on that.
And Eugene, if you do manage to complete creating the wad of stories, and are happy with sharing, I'd be very grateful for a batch via e-mail or something =)
Although, this would only be a temporary fix; I'd buy a book based on EVE in no time. There is truly some wonderful talent amongst the content team. "A sigh escapes from heaven, and worlds end." |

Seriously if there are two/three things I want to see in the online store it would be:
1: Ship models/miniatures: The more detailed the better. I'd pay $10 or more for a pack of 5 or more micromachine sized frigates any day. Maybe $10 for each cruiser if they are the size of a brick. and $15-20 for a BS if was the size of my keyboard :)
Would I play with em? You bet your ass I would! I'm a HUGE child at heart :) I can hear the manmade sounds of rockets and lasers now... PEEW PEWW BOOM! KRAKRAKRAKRAKRAK!
2 and potentialy 3: I want to see a LARGE (least 100 pages), full color hardbound book with pages of stories and background info, Concept art and of course complete ship data and artwork (inclduing large full color prints of the ships, and blueprints). More importanly the book should be like one part text book, and one part short storie book, what I mean is, A nice detailed timeline of EVE, and all the technical data your writers can possibly squeeze into the book. For example, Show illustrations of the inside of a pod, and point out some key features and explain them. Basically, I want a book like you might get for D@D Like a good source book. that would OWN! What would I pay? Probably between $30 and $50 easily. You could split this into two books if need be. One full color book with each ship/station ETC in it with a crapload of concept art and in game screens. And one that has all kinds of source material like background stories (please put some new ones into it), technical info, and a detailed timeline with fewer full color images, but lots more stuff to read.
Anyway to be honest I don't buy things like mugs, T shirts and Keychains. They are nifty, but not my cup of tea :) The things I suggested above on the other hand, are the kinds of things I'd buy without thinking twice about it.
Galaxion > If you drove a car shaped like a thorax women would call you Demangel > Dude... I would call.. Demangel > wait that sounded g@y I bet. Galaxion > Just a bit.

Hello everybody
Thank you for your kind words. It's really been amazing how well my music has been received by the EVE community considering I'm just a n00B in the field of professional music making, although I've been making music for myself for over 10 years now. And I can assure you that there will be a CD sold in our webstore (perhaps CDs if the demand is high enough) with a collection of my personal favorites from the EVE soundtrack, which is wast (somewhere near 6 hours, will not fit into a single CD). What else is newsworthy, yes, I'm working now in CCPs QA department helping EVE to grow into it's destined size and greatness, and if all goes as planned I shall be making more music for the world of EVE soon(tm).

I noticed that some of the tracks that are available to download are not currently in the game. Are they likely to make an appearance? In my case I particularly like Akat Mountains and The Dealer.
Could more tracks be included in forth coming patches?

It's all sterling work but, "Omens"....Loud. Through a decent sound rig. (Only a pity you couldn't get a real choir instead of the pad. )
Mind blowing.

That's my favorite track too
I'm also liking the "Do You Know Where You Are" track because of the begging bit, it's really creepy and atmospheric and sounds cool :)
There's a few other tracks I hear when I'm playing and think "that's good" but by the time I get to check the track name it's random jumped to a different one
I'll listen to the tracks people suggested and see what I think to them.
I love listening to film / game music because some of them have the best dance / atmospheric tracks. There's a couple Matrix Reloaded tracks and FFVII tracks are great too, that Aeris theme is tops.
Can we post about other games or not? If not can I say the games totally suck and Eve rules to get away with it?

While the other tracks are good, I especially like 'Surplus of Rare Artifacts'.

You have no idea mate, my friend actually thought about buying and playing the game just for the music, he had little to no interest in the actual game at first, it was the music that cought his interest and kept him playing, wich made him see the overall greatness of the game. ______________________

It's really good to get some feed back from officials on this, thanks guys.
I'd also like to express my interest in the chronicles and short stories that you guys have done. A lot of them are extremely interesting and a book with extensions on these or a history or a collection and background or even a new book based on these would be very very interesting.

Current favorite: I saw your ship.
About the story, here's a little article which discusses the origin of it. The original concept was co-written by Reynir Hararsson (co-founder and art director), ̾r¾lfur Beck (co-founder) and Hrafnkel Ëskarsson (Clover). ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Wow, by RealX I had no idea you meant Mr. Hallur himself. Thank you very much for replying personally =D ... Haha, I feel kind of wobbly ^_^
I'm extremely glad to hear that at least one CD will be in stock eventually. Someone mentioned that not all the tracks on the site are played in-game; the vice-versa is also true, and some of those in-game have been 'moderated' slightly, probably for the sake of size, which is understandable.
Demangel, the description you gave for the ultimate book was superb, and indeed, if something of that quality and content was produced I'd be willing to fork out the cash.
Thanks again for all the support and info. I'm still just overwhelmed at the support and community this project is receiving, not to mention the development that's behind it all. "A sigh escapes from heaven, and worlds end." |

Sounds like you're interested in a combination of the BattleTech Mech readouts and House books. That is something that I wouldn't mind seeing myself, to be honest. I'll throw this by the Content team and Marketing and see what happens.

I dunno if CCP really want this to be well-known, but you can extract all the music currently in the game, as well as a few extra 'hidden' tracks. On the eve-i site you can download a program called the 'stuff extraction too' found here...
http://www.eve-i.com/home/kreischweide/page/page_exstuff.php
What this allows you to do is extract files from the 'resMusic.stuff' file in the ccp>eve directory. You'll find about 76 music files, and two playlist files.
Firstly, the music files are in .ogg format, so you'll need the right codec to play them. However, you can also convert .ogg files into MP3 fairly easily (just google 'ogg to mp3 converter'.
So there you have a kick-ass bunch of music files (i personally like the rock-type songs).
Also, the playlist can be edited to play your own .ogg files in-game, or at the log-in screen. (or is it the character scree, dunno ) Aparently its best to convert any music you want to play in-game to .ogg, rather than just playing mp3's.
List of music files:
