Hi,
Question: What's the biggest betrayal of trust you have gone through during your time of EVE?
I've heard of people telling, that there have been thiefs in the corp and even people who said, that the corp has taken stuff them. As to speak for me, I haven't had such an experience, yet, during my two years of playing. *knockonwood*

1st place: High-level spy offlining several POS (2007)
2nd place: CEO running off with lots of the corps assets (end 2004)
3rd place: corp-thief (2003)
1st and 2nd place are pretty close, but the spy wins by the damage this has caused. |

I once ninjad [Blade of Wizardry] and sold it for 1000g on AH. That doesn't count though since it's not EVE.

Greatest betrayal of trust to this date, though it is not talked about anymore, was the Dev scandal when BPO's were illegally spawned 
Next to that - I have not been victim to anything like that quite yet. Usually it was me sabatoging enemy corporations  I still have not been done in or had by another player in the giant board game of EVE - however several attempts against myself or my group have been made before, and they all failed so far. |

I dunno, perhaps when Samirol (original char holder) did a 180 and decided that a long time of friendship meant nothing and started spreading crap about the corp to everyone he spoke to. We've had two corp-thieves that stole some assets from us in our history, and that never affected me nearly as much as when people who you thought were good friends turned out not to be.
The social betrayal means a lot more to me than the financial or pixel-based betrayal. |

I helped a new player get into 0.0, but he threw a tantrum when he found out that iteron IVs cost 50% more in 0.0 than in hi-sec as if it was somehow my fault, and cleaned out some crappy mods from the loot hanger (about 5-8M worth IIRC) and quit. What a disappointment; he even failed as a corp thief.
Mostly I associate with some pretty cool, trustworthy people. |

You were CEO for what? 3 weeks? Which is rather insignificant to me for a corp that I have run for over two years. The assets you left with was worth maybe 90mil and hardly what I would consider a real corp-theft (maybe a try?). Though I remember Valentin being very disappointed (since a lot of the stuff came from his mining), you can rationalize your behaviour any way you want - it's nothing that I care for much about any longer though.

Ore Mongers was scheduled to merge with another corporation to gain access to 0.0 space. It was discussed with the leadership and all were for it. I joined the other corporation to help get things settled, and began moving assets over. During that time, I left you as CEO to hold the corporation and help ease members out in to the new corporation. Part way through the merge you then decided to evemail me and state that you were keeping the corporation, then you labeled me a thief to cover your tracks. Any attempt I made to contact you about it, you proceeded to simply block me, and then ban me from the public channels.
But like I said, it was long ago and I've since then moved on. I have never stolen from a corporation, and I never will. When I join a corporation I am loyal to it.
Edit - I am not trying to call you a thief Tobias. You are possibly the only person in EVE to have earned my full trust. You simply decided to keep the corporation and carry on leading it. I admire how far it has come since then. |

A couple of years ago, when in Celtic Anarchy, once in a war in Syndicate, after infiltrating the enemy corp I put their alliance, gang and intel chats out to IRC channels, and their TS piped over our vent server.
Thanks must go to NeoThermic for his help in that endeavour, especially for the IRC bot.

Well, I suppose this is a way to rationalize it. You made a choice to join another corporation and "move assets" over there. The rest of us (admittedly, we had 7 members at the time) didn't know. I remember your intent to join EDF, though you never mentioned that you would take all the corp assets with you.
Interesting how things can be viewed so differently. Only me and Baleor are still in the game from that time and place. Time to move on.

Yeah, depends on the amount ISK you have lost, I think. But I would agree, that at least the personal/social aspect of the whole hurts (feelings) more than the monetary thing.

about a year ago xCeo nabbed 50bil in cap bluprints cap component bluprints and about 3-5 bil in T2/fac mods back when T2 was still expensive... all the while when we were tryin to support the guy on our own forums...
then a about a couple months later a BoB alt wrecked up another corp in the same alliance...

So far the only players hurting me have been pirates that i underestimated(IOW, if any trust was betrayed, i did it myself in thinking i could beat their gatecamps). I guess i am either lucky or simply too paranoid to suffer a real breach of trust (so far).......
The biggest breach of trust i have heard about was the infamous incident where the GHSC wrecked a corp and it's CEO in one well orchestrated sweep.

Morkt Drak stole our (joint owned) Raven bpo like 4 years ago. It hurt extra much since I actully thought he was a nice bloke, and it ended up with him threatening to petition me if I kept on contacting him about it - which I always did in a perfectly civil manner. Talk about a slap in the face.
In this case the hurt was most definitely the feeling of betrayal we all had in our little corporation, not the actual isk loss (which in itself was rather substantial considering the times). No idea if he's still playing nowdays but if you're reading this I'd like you to know I for one haven't forgotten what you did to us  |
