Got me a farmer infestation. Mostly of the cloaky Raven kind. But every once in a while, one of them will actually attack me with a Drake (wtf?). Haven't had much success being able to catch them. Was wondering what a good 2 man team setup would be for catching these guys? |

engaging farmer ravens will result in this
One held down 6 more warp in
Hmm better yet be in a heavy interdictor and cyno in some firepower |

Short of a Cyno, maybe a 2-man dual-repping BS sniper gang? This is something I'm trying out myself, don't take my word that it works.
Happy Hunting anyways.

I really hope you're joking. That's the type of mentality that's currently wrong with EVE. "bring a cyno and hot drop on them".
Yeah, theres a chance that if you engage them, they'll bring friends, but isn't that what you want - a fight?
Imo, if you're looking at strictly a (2)man gang, and you're going after raven farmers, then there are quite a few ways you could go;
Fun for me would be a heavy dictor and a hac.
You could also use a couple command ships.
Also, a couple BS of your own. You could remote rep them and have a small remote rep tank. Could be a good fight if he brings some friends.
There are lots of different options you could use. Personally, I like fast agile gangs of hacs (doesn't have to be nano either). Hacs can take down BS rather quickly and either continue engaging (if he brings friends), or get out quick afterwards.
I would seriously _not_ bring a cyno and hot drop people. That's pretty lame imo. To each their own though.

They are dirty mindless rang-rang farmers, who gives a toss about what you or I consider lame. They are a scourge that need be wiped from the earth and if a doomsday blast is what you happen to have on hand then why not have a go.

heres why you bring the cyno
Farmers rat in groups (where I have seen them ****in huge groups with scouts everywhere) so you jump in 5 guys you wont get a fight 1 guy with a cyno will get the fight.

Each to their own indeed. The point when fighting ISK farmers is to kill them, no matter what. If hot dropping a carrier on the grid is what's needed - HOT DROP A CARRIER ON THE GRID.
Dead ISK farmer CNRs make the game better for all of us. No tactic is too 'lame'.

I think this is what is making Eve unfun on occasion.
I don't have access to a carrier (nor can I fly one).
I can probably barely fly a command ship in about two months.
Right now, someone good shows up in a command ship in low sec, and all we can do is sit and watch him pop us (even if we attack him in a group).
Hearing that the solution to all problems is a carrier or a gang of command ships is laughable and disheartening all at the same time. ------------------
Let me show you around. That's my lab table, and this is my workstool. And over there is my intergalactic spaceship. And here's where I keep assorted lengths of wire. |

Unless you can get some mad hax going and nerf local you aren't getting a gang on any farmer op so capship****ging is the way to go

Hardly.
There are places, like the also-mentioned Mamet, where a corp that purports to be anti-pirate hangs out.
The farmers obviously have no problem with them being around in local, so all you have to do is let the farmers get used to your presence (maybe mine some veld for a week to get them used to seeing you around).
Of course, this may not work if you're a famous pirate, but that's what alts are for.
Social engineering, mate.
Now, given that I can get a group onto some farmers, what should I be flying? And don't say carrier or command ship. ------------------

don't engage unless you're going to win. immediately disengage if you're in doubt or surprised.
command ships are not that hard to kill, maybe except a full mad passive nighthawk, but that thing wont have tackle+point on it.
and pick a spot with poorer pirates.

Farmers seem very disorganized here in Eve. Back when I played Lin2, the farmers had some of the best pvpers in the game. They even went so far as to organize alliances and lock down boss spawns and siege castles.

Because CVA is obviously going to ignore your criminally flagged ship outside the station.

I'm sorry but if we're talking about 7 BS's vs. 1 then I'd say a hotdrop is perfectly in order. They decided to try for the gank with overhwelming force then they deserve to see what overwhelming force really is. Plus they're farmers so the normal gentlemens rules of combat don't really apply.

I would use a heavy dictor/HAC team. Dictor goes in first and locks one down, dictor should be setup to tank one way or another. I know of a guy who likes to solo battleships while taking station fire in his, so a farmer raven shouldn't be tough to deal with
Then the gank fit HAC flys in and goes to town. Within a minute you should be looking at "farmer 103930's Raven Wreck"
