Eventually, ELP had to hire another artist to airbrush the phallus into the shaft of light that exists today.
Hiring Giger and afterwards demanding that he should remove anything offensive from hist art is rather stupid to be honest...
What did they think he would draw for them? A puppy? ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I dont see any ship on that page... just some very disturbing cyborg and chairs...wth. BTW, most of the artist, after creating something totaly original and plausible...dont do it afterward by lack of inspiration.

H.R. Giger is without doubt a genius with many of the character "flaws" that genius's often suffer with. He has had a less than straight forward life.
Its worth remembering the Alien designs from the film are over 30 years old. They stand the test of time very well and are true landmarks in the history of cinema.
As for eve ships I can think of no one better suited to t3 Gallente design!
The one project however I would be fearful of would be Giger designing is the mobile phone - who can guess where one would need to stick it for it to work? But you just know it would look out of this world.

No, moa is a shame. Support the introduction of well thought out Amarr solutions!

If CCP went that route, I would rather see CCP hire a artist that sees fields of depths, understands shapes, and most of all, has a creative mind.
HR Giger, genius for some he may be, is not. He is completely swallowed up by his own world of fetishistic biomechanical and sexual imagery, and that means that he is ultimately boring in the end since he is unlikely to create anything else.
And it is a shame that a great artist like John Barkey recently passed away, because if anyone outside CCP should design ships for them, it should be him.
A example of his work.

I agree with that, I can see why an artist like Geiger wouldn't be cool with censorship, I really like the album art he did for Celtic Frost's "To Mega Therion", it's suits the music so well, don't know how well it would fit in with the world of eve though

I don't like his stuff, even if its an inspiration for a lot of other sci-fi. It might be good to some people the first time they see it, but you wouldn't want the same style everywhere. If you want famous outside talent, they should hire some freakin' composers to write epic scores, cause EVE sound hasn't changed significantly since Beta.
My vote goes to Clint Mansell, Phillip Glass, or Klaus Badelt. Any one of those would do good EVE music. _______________________________ http://epicwords.net/ |

In fact most of the Amarr ships have a bit of Gigers Alien in them...and to the OP, in my opinion Amarr ship designs are very much like something he would create.

Bull.
Have you seen the premium graphics content? The new rogue drones look excellent. The new Rogue Drone Battleships (still based on the delightful Dominix) are especially impressive - aside from the more obvious activity, if you look closely you can even see the large silver-white growths on the front pulse like lung sacs or hearts.

Simple solution: don't try to tell him what to do and what the object should look like. Let him work.
Looking through the Alien movies, you can clearly see that every expansion of his original Alien designed for Alien 1, done by others, lack that extra bit of unorthodoxy that made his design outstanding in movie history.

HHAAHHAA SOOO TRUE
anyway, no need to work with him. pay him to design and deliver, thank you, goodbye... tho they did nice work with the latest ships. One remark tho. Don't the caldari BS's look a bit smaller than other races BS's? shouldn't they at least have more speed or agility de to that fact? And due to their shapes, shouldn't they be bigger, I mean all those shapes...ewww... ?

I don't like this idea.
Has anyone ever seen "Alien"?
The whole thing was filmed at such a low light level that half the time you could not see what was going on. That's not dramatic, it's boring.
Giger did the designs for "Alien". He can make Eve just as boring.

They have also created some of the most butt ugly, as well. This is fine - real hardware is often ugly even if it is functionally elegant. But couldn't they be a bit more creative with different manners of ugliness? It's not that the ships aren't modeled and textured beautifully, it's that some of the designs are just not convincing. It's hard to be menaced by a battleship that looks like a giant cyborg spaceturkey.
As for Giger, he designed the creature, he didnt direct the movie. You can "blame" the darkness on Ridley Scott; I for one think it was great.

Aye, one of the movies u are still amazed with effects and designs even if it's almost 30 years old. Take a look at some newer movies with OBVIOUS computer generated effects, they are pathetic! And Caldari ships need a lot more make up, they really look pathetic compared to gallente and amarr, hell even minnies look better, or at least intimidating. The Caldari on the other hand look like the birds they were named after, just defected ones...
