Sad to see tri go out so shortly after MC, about a year ago i was thinking tri would shortly be one of the next superpowers, Idle Guns was blue to tri and got to do a little 0.0 ratting. the year went on Tri grabbed deklein. It looked like everything was going great up until quite recently. looks like nano dreads just don't hold up to holding space

so I'm hitting this thread pretty late, after all "1337" pvpers and mr/mrs knowsitall.
Triumvirate was good fun and good pwnage. We witness a couple of few alliance roll over on their backs when we got the steam up and things went so easy. We set good traps and good fights and won and loss some good ****s. If people could've just settled down and respect one and other things whould've been pure fun, but that's not the case, cause if it's a slow day u sure as hell gotta stirr some trouble cause ur expecting everyone else to have more isk and more fun then urself.
thanks Doom, mdk, wreck, omen, vipersquad and cora (darknsss, xaeon, sacul, elliott and sith). We had some good times. To Dorm, I were against u fellas from getting in from day one, but thanks for takeing care of all the logistic bull**** everyone forgets about. Thanks to all drama queens who came and left, it was fun nursing your emo tears.
thank you Darknesss, all love baby. _

What will be interesting is who piles over each other to take their space... It's a very nice area of space, quite valueable... Does Smashkill go for it? Insurgency? Tri's pets try to take it and hold it (LOL)? BRUCE retreat there from fountain?
Or... IRON... Which is blue to everyone in the drone regions yet helps no one... Tries to take it?

You don't GET tri then. The comparisons were purely on a scale of enjoyment, and everyone loves to win. BoB love to win eve, TRI loved to win fights. As an alliance TRI. did what it did for fun and to keep this goddam game fun,
This ended on a alliance level about a month after we took Deklein. The fear of uber lag was allways deeply rooted in the alliance leadership and the average Tri member had a attention span of 3 hours.
Cpt. Blood won Deklein for Tri with financial backing of Erwin. Fade, Pure Blind and Cloud ring were also won by the guys camping 23/7 and digging in but since they got scorn and contempt from pvp monkeys all the ppl with a attention span of more than 3 said hours left because taking space is the opposite of fun, slowly all was left was css kids and isk *****s hogging moons ....ow the irony.
Were Triumvirate ever anything but that last phase? Who knew?

I'm not sure what part of that was meant to challenge anything I said, XxAngelxX, because its having the opposite effect.
Make whatever claims you want, but I know that alliance attitudes aren't very different across EVE. Triumvirate members would've fought a long and brutal war, if there were visionary leaders and a sense of purpose driving it. The alliances TRI wants to be compared to have had countless opportunities to play the fun/POS card and chose not to.
Lacking that is what made TRI an inferior alliance by comparison. Copped out on the first go. Otherwise every group in the game has the same exact potential for greatness.
The only interesting thing now is we get to see whose going to reject this stupid announcement, and whose going to embrace it. _______________________________ http://epicwords.net/ |

I pretty much agree, if there had been any real leadership pushing towards an attainable, united goal in the last six months (save the BRUCE op which never came to occur) TRI would probably still be around and in better shape then it ever had been.

tl;dr. "Greatness is measured by an alliances desire to bang their heads against a wall to prove a point."
When Dark was ready to compare us as we were, to BoB and RA, i seriously doubt he meant our ability to wage POS warfare, which everyone in Tri has admited we did everything to avoid. He meant our pvp and fleet ability.
Tri as an alliance could and would have held on to Dek, the fact is it seems nobody really wants to. Dek isn't really under threat from anyone, Tri isn't surrendering to anyone. The alliance just isn't what people want it to be anymore.
I don't think anyone really cares what attributes you assign to your definition of a good alliance, the fact is BoB fleets were weary of us and even went as far as to sit out of the way on the few occations we crossed paths.
So whatever, continue your self important rhetoric. All you Great War fanatics can measure your greatness with your ability to lag each other out, shoot POS and DD each other, or whatever the hell it is you do with your time.

I worded it to avoid alliance comparisons completely, because I knew it would spark a ****ing contest. Not having to say GS is better than someone was a side perk, that you somehow called me on. Edited by: Ackaroth on 13/05/2008 04:47:44 Its been a great 10 months or so. TRI has been the cause of sooo much fun for so many people both inside and out of it. I have had the privilege of flying with some of the most skilled, and some of the most crazy pilots in eve. Things like the nano-scimitar still make me grin. Like them or hate them, TRI closing is the end of a legacy. I wont begin to say we were as good or better than anyone, but we were pretty good at making eve a fun place to play.

I'm sorry if my BoB comment insulted some people... but it was my opinion.
It was merely meant as angel said to express what i felt about the alliance, in its time we were killing a load of people, having a great time, we had a nice cap fleet... times were good.
Thanks to all the pilots giving respect!

Sweet, banging our heads against a war is one thing we can do.
The irony is that half of Tri blames the other half, when in reality Oree was spot on. In order to hold space you need to do the boring things, you need to run towers, you need to siege and engage in fleet warfare. In order to do this you're going to end up with people that will reduce your effeciency and decrease your l33tness, and bore people only interested in the flavour of the month and their killboard stats. 3 corps leaving might have resulted in the eventual dissolution of Tri, but getting rid of the ones holding the moons would have resulted in the instant dissolution of Tri. lose/lose.
There are plenty of good pvp alliances out there that have fun, just don't plan to hold and take space. You can't do it and always have fun, and you can't do it without an industrial and logistics backbone.
